  • Join RHS Ambassador Sue Kent and first-time garden designer Giulio Giorgi as they discuss the inspiring World Child Cancer Nurturing Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024!
Created by Giulio with contractor Landesigns, this Sanctuary garden was designed with children undergoing cancer treatment in mind, but its LEGO inspired modular construction, made of 3D-printed terracotta pots that are lightweight and stackable, makes it accessible to people of different ages, heights and abilities.
After winning the first RHS Environmental Innovation Award at RHS Chelsea 2024, the garden will live on at RHS Garden Wisley, Surrey, as a sensory garden and educational space for children and their families.

So where can we order the tiles, center compost basket,, and passive porus water ollas?

idk about the tiles ( i think they were custom designed and made for this garden? so might not be commercially available?) but the compost basket looks to be just a defined area on top of the keyhole bed and therefore would be easily replicated using any materials like bricks or wood that you have on hand - the placement of the area matters more than the materials, i would say. Ollas are dead easy to replicate, and the simplest way is to bury a normal terracotta, unfinished pot up to the rim in the bed, then cover with a saucer that is the same size or larger than the mouth of the pot.

Some very interesting ideas and features on show here.
It will be very interesting to see how these features stand the test of time when the garden is relocated to Wisley.
I hope the designer and the RHS stay in touch and cooperate to develop the concept.

This is truly amazing! I love how he not only considered access but that it is self-sustaining with the compost in the middle and the watering system. Very impressive! I hope this takes off and will be used everywhere.
