In the 1950's and 1960's, all of this was common across the USA. At least it was in Los Angeles, CA, You learned very young to not ever trust a cop. No matter how good you were. They could and would hang any crime they imagined onto a teenager. Take you out of school, shove you out the door at Midnight and you had to walk 10 miles to come home to an angry parent. "What did you do? They wouldn't take you out of school if you hadn't done anything". You learn really fast to never talk to a cop. No matter what.

In Trinidad and Tobago our law system reflect that of the British. In it the burden of proof lie with the prosecutor, not the defendant. Is this not the case in the U.S?
In the usa it is Reasonable doubt is a term used in jurisdiction of common law countries. Evidence that is beyond reasonable doubt is the standard of evidence required to validate a criminal conviction in most adversarial legal systems.
I thought the very same thing (not to be insensitive to the horrific act against the jogger) but I wondered who else was raped at the same time. And I figured race and socioeconomic status factored in.
Actually those who were victims and/or affected by the real culprit, should sue. While the state of NYC was busy with 5 INNOCENT boys, the real rapist moved on to do other harm in the community. That's negligent.
A petition should be circulated calling for donald trump to publicly apologize for his $85k contribution to convictions of the 5 black youths labeled as the "central park 5.'
Nobody offered representing those kids pro bono during this case? What a mess this was. Seems like nobody believed that they were truly innocent, especially the NYPD.
The media played a big role as well and should also be held accountable for their lack of journalistic integrity. These days at least they say "alleged" when describing suspects (they didn't for CP5, I remember this story well as a 16 yr old in NYC when this happened). However, they are doing no better today than they did back then. When someone black/brown is in a story (whether victim or suspect or deceased), they will include the person's background going back to Kindergarten. Any small blemish and they will focus on the blemish rather than the overall story. It's all about sensationalizing stories for the almighty dollar. Smh
This story had to be retold. I pray it changes the hearts and minds of law enforcement and everyone in America. Remember EVERYONE is innocent until proven guilty. AND this black and brown thing.... when are we just going to be human beings? Americans? People? It's 2019. When?
So how come when Police Officers are around a criminal act and see their fellow officer commit said crimes the Officers are not also prosecuted just like these Black Kids were charged “by association”?? Clearly American Law is NOT BLIND!!
tart70 since I have never beaten and raped a person to death, I would never admit to beating and raping a person to death. You make it seem like the men were tortured, but in reality they were just asked questions. The kids were never beaten into confessing, that’s a lie. 4 out of 5 of the guys admitted to being an accomplice to the rape on tape, with no bruises or cuts or any damage to their bodies. If they were beaten into confessing, they would be black and blue. They said that they held the jogger down and restrained her while she was raped, but didn’t rape her. The DNA test proved that she was raped but not by those guys, so their confession coincides with the evidence. They were accomplices to the rape. Also, when the raped and beaten woman woke up from her coma, 2 weeks later, she said that it was multiple people. While only one person raped her, it’s pretty clear that the others were there. This is all just leftist propaganda to make Donald Trump look bad because he spoke out against the 5.

I had no knowledge about this case at the time, and I lived in a different state than NY...when this was happening I was 5 years old...wasn’t aware of how the judicial system was nor that these innocent men weren’t treated fairly...Knowledge is power but since then I am more understanding of what happened than at the time this occurred...So some ppl didn’t know the extent of what was going on and were blinded by the truth is why it’s more outraged at this time than anything
They need to fix this system like today!
Can't believe that they won't just take those who falsely accuse them to court. Also kids need to be taught about law and not to say anything until they have their parents there or lawyer. I hope the system is changed to protect all people and children.
It was really hard to watch. I was crying the whole time.
CORRECTION........How the judicial system treats BLACK people. Not to dismiss or diminish anyone else of color.
Did he say they didn't have the investigative tools to exclude them totally?!! Such BS!! Their statements didn't match the crime scene or each others. On top of that, the same detectives working their case worked the rapist case and yall had his DNA. I'm tired of the excuses!!
And it was confirmed that the DNA did not belong to either boys. I say BS too!
@@enuphsayd9746 what were they doing there? Oh, that's right, committing crimes, they just got caught for the wrong one. .
@@shawnheenan9000 take a sit, troll. Today ill energy will pay you a visit. Be strong and be well.
The tragic situation that happened to our Brothers the Central Park 5 ought to bring increase scrutiny, oversight, and pause unto all Local Police Departments and Sheriff Departments. It should strike terror in the hearts of the POPO and SherPOPO knowing that any instance or violation of the United States Constitution will bring swift judgment and recompence from the United States Constitution. And rightfully so!
One of the lead investors Mike Sheenan died a couple of days ago. I guess the guilt was too much.
Given the climate at the time why was she running alone through a park in NYC after 9:00 pm in the first place?
Because she was looking for sex and drugs... It is obvious.
My skin is my sin! ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼 living in a white mans world.
It's called lies not falsehood. They would not admit they did anything wrong. If they did that and they are called before the court it will work against them. They very well know they lied and did not have any evidence against the children. Evil and wicked to the core
Those detectives, cops, prosecutor are guilty of criminal conduct. God bring justice.
Such injustice 😭😭
He didn't think they were railroaded because he's a part of the system. He knows the tactics and as a prosecutor his interest is on a conviction not the truth
@Weldon Anderson Thank you for saying this...He can pander to us now but back then he wasn’t about to ruin his career✌🏾
It’s something really wrong with US of A.
And do not forget Donald Trump in all this.
This is America
God bring justice to these young men.
Can you imagine if those kids get the death penalty and years later found the real rapist this is not a joke an being a parent lost a Son over this
One of the innocent men lost his mother who died of grief because of this events. The cops should have been charged with her death and summarily executed via the electric chair. Strange how all the law-and-order right wingers who called for the execution of the innocents failed to call for the execution of the guilty.
What happened to the CP5 happens all over the country. It also happens to the poor whites as well. Certainly it occurs more to ppl of color.
I still think the jogger, the "victim" is complicit. I believe she was told to not tell the truth just so that they could get these boys.
Good to remind the world how Little Man Trump unfairly targeting these young boys for prosecution
There is an economic component to the justice system starting with bail...incarceration provides very cheap labor for companies ...it has been the labor base for many small family business.
Didn't have the investigative tools to exclude them totally at that time....?? How??? What tools?? WASN'T DNA the necessary investigative tool that DID exclude them??
DNA was in its infancy and not all cops were trained on how to collect DNA at a crime scene at that time. It was also very expensive to process. Now it's commonplace for cops to bag victim's and suspected perp's hands for scratches under the fingernails, etc., but what you see on TV is really not reality. DNA isn't tested in every case, especially when tons of other evidence exists.
@@universalsoldier2293 No apologies nor understanding warranted here when the DNA evidence came back as NO MATCH for all 14 or 17 "suspects" to include CP5 and prosecutors STILL reported it as inconclusive.
ALL OF THE PEOPLE THAT HANDLED THE CASE OF THESE FIVE BLACK MEN NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR PART. For all the racist:
Are we lying now??
lol you know they'll come up with some bs argument
This is what's going to happen. This series will be remembered AT MOST FOR THE NEXT THREE DAYS and then the public will forget about it and its message and focus on something else. Are we forgetting that we are living in the Age of Distraction. So many things vying for the public's attention.
They all should go to jail for life
Who? Make yourself clear.
This Guest is part of the system, this is a photo op for him! Any position he takes is just a vantage point on the coat tails of this situation for his benefit moving forward. Majority of shades of Brown people in authority are indoctrinated the way they need to be to get paid the same way their Pink counterparts are. the outcomes will continue to be the same. Case overseen by a brown judge will be handled by the same precedent used as a pink judge. True it is assumed that they will use personal experiences and background to glean from but the "BAR" is set and it is not by him/her... IJS
You said nothing but the truth!
In Trinidad and Tobago our law system reflect that of the British. In it the burden of proof lie with the prosecutor, not the defendant. Is this not the case in the U.S?
Its supposed to be "innocent until proven guilty"........supposed to be anyway.
I believe there had been several rapes in the park & the guy who confessed did those as well. But they never asked him about her nor tested his DNA.
Actually those who were victims and/or affected by the real culprit, should sue. While the state of NYC was busy with 5 INNOCENT boys, the real rapist moved on to do other harm in the community. That's negligent.
Ms. Winemaker you said a mouth full! The system failed the other victims as well.
A petition should be circulated calling for donald trump to publicly apologize for his $85k contribution to convictions of the 5 black youths labeled as the "central park 5.'
NEVER TALK TO THE POLICE.
N E V E R
Obama owes these men An apology and all of the Dems in the state and city of New York!
S H he was in office when they got arrested!
Not Karma but you reap what you sow. If not now on other side of this life.
Sooo sad and makes me 😠
Held her down
Nobody offered representing those kids pro bono during this case? What a mess this was. Seems like nobody believed that they were truly innocent, especially the NYPD.
Because they weren't innocent
The media played a big role as well and should also be held accountable for their lack of journalistic integrity. These days at least they say "alleged" when describing suspects (they didn't for CP5, I remember this story well as a 16 yr old in NYC when this happened). However, they are doing no better today than they did back then. When someone black/brown is in a story (whether victim or suspect or deceased), they will include the person's background going back to Kindergarten. Any small blemish and they will focus on the blemish rather than the overall story. It's all about sensationalizing stories for the almighty dollar. Smh
How has anything changed? The justice system and country itself are as racist now as they've always been
I just finished watching the 4 episodes.
So so sad as South Africans we can connect with this system, we praying for you for healing in Jesus name
This story had to be retold. I pray it changes the hearts and minds of law enforcement and everyone in America. Remember EVERYONE is innocent until proven guilty. AND this black and brown thing.... when are we just going to be human beings? Americans? People? It's 2019. When?
Robert Morghanthual the DA did this as a payback for his buddies on Wall Street.
So how come when Police Officers are around a criminal act and see their fellow officer commit said crimes the Officers are not also prosecuted just like these Black Kids were charged “by association”?? Clearly American Law is NOT BLIND!!
They admitted to doing the crime.
tart70 since I have never beaten and raped a person to death, I would never admit to beating and raping a person to death.
@@stz9740 until you beaten. Half to death and forced to confess. If you want that experience you could make it happen but you cant tell others HOW to react. Go get your own experience.
chyena78 they were never beaten by the police. That’s a lie. They confessed to the crime on video and none of them had any cuts or bruises on their faces and bodies.

I also think ppl should do investigations and documentaries on jury the selection process. People who don't want to be there and have no real law knowledge or education being able to decide on who goes to jail.
do you even know what a jury is? It's your peers, it's supposed to be random people. But they don't just throw random people in a court room and say go. They give them a preliminary class of sorts, to help them understand the process and their role.
@@nickr.2151 yes I do know what a jury is! I just think the government shouldn't make ppl who don't want to do it have reign over someone going to jail or not. When I have seen many ppl being sent to jail cause a jury was angry about being there, not understanding a case or just tired and want to go home.
