My wife's account and app worked perfectly at the dealership. My question is, can there be two separate accounts/phones connected to the vehicle in this way?
Each VIN can only be attached to a single account. If you want to share an account, that can be done and I made this video to demonstrate. ua-cam.com/video/mTYrUlISbSI/v-deo.htmlsi=KZ039x0bKq1lbkds
Unfortunately, that probably means there is an account associated with the vehicle. You have two options and I go over this exact situation in this video: ua-cam.com/video/2zeGou3PRQo/v-deo.html
Just did this, apparently it didn’t reset anything bc I watched at the same time, did all the things, and there’s still a user saved as well as me not getting the QR code
But what about when you have two owners for the vehicle and the dealer insisted they setup the first customer, now the Second customer wants to also connect, but can't find the ID? (BTW, my app allows me to either scan the QR code, or enter the 8-digit number, but we can't find the 8-digit number.)
You can have multiple people connected via Bluetooth but only one with the connected features of the app. There is a way to share the app but it requires sharing complete access
No. The qr is only needed to register the new car to the owners account. Adding a second profile is a lot easier. I review that prices here: Adding a 2nd profile to the Toyota multimedia system… with glitches ua-cam.com/video/xRD7vWP7AuU/v-deo.html
I went through the whole process last week with the salesman when I bought the car. We got the QR code but it kept erring out at the end of trying the complete the save of adding the car. He saw a persons profile was on the car so he removed their profile without resetting and then manually added my profile and then linked our family phones via Bluetooth . But I can’t add the car to the app a week later still. The reset button is red btw. Will clicking the reset remove all our phones?
The dealer was able to help set up a profile for my wife who is the primary driver. Is there a way to bring up the qr code on the infotainment system screen to add a secondary profile?
You don't need the QR code to add a second profile. Remember though that a "profile" is NOT the same as a Toyota owners account. A profile is a device that has the Toyota app installed and active. Anybody can have a profile. If, like many others, you want to have two people who have access to the remote features (remote start and vehicle location), you need to log into the app using your wife's credentials. I describe this process in this video: ua-cam.com/video/mTYrUlISbSI/v-deo.html
@@DreamingTurtle you don’t need a QR code to add a Bluetooth device. You can’t have one car on multiple app accounts. If you want two people to have the remote features from the app, both users must use the same login credentials
But now does this only work for a single user/driver? My wife is already connected as the primary driver, and I just want to add myself as a secondary driver. But I'm stuck in the endless loop of the car telling me to enter my email and then phone number so I can authenticate via the app, then the app asking for the VIN and then wanting the QR code or PIN, which the car of course won't show...
The car will only allow one account per VIN. That means, the remote features and tracking are only good on one account. If you want those features, you have to share account login info with your wife. I have a video on how to do that. If you have a Toyota app, you can add yourself as a "profile" in the car so it will remember your radio presets and a few other customizable features, but that is just a matter of pairing by Bluetooth. The QR code is ONLY used for the initial account setup. Here's the video on account sharing ua-cam.com/video/mTYrUlISbSI/v-deo.html
I have been seeing all your videos. Is there a way to do this when someone already has the car connected to their app (My wife). I can't seem to get the QR code to come back up and don't want to erase her data.
No. The QR is only to attach the car to an owner's account. You can have your own profile and/or add a Bluetooth device without the QR code but you can't have two different owner's accounts associated with the VIN. If you want to share the remote features, I have a video on how to do that but it is a work around: ua-cam.com/video/mTYrUlISbSI/v-deo.html
01/19/2023 12:00. I have tried this process on my new highlander and my profile is not being deleted after doing the reset. I’ve tried this multiple times. The sales person started this setup with out my phone Toyota app snd stoped. Gues he put my profile in. How can I delete my profile so I can get the blue screen QRCode? Thanks.
This is a common thing so I made another video to show you. ua-cam.com/video/4R2fpB-Ib7E/v-deo.html Bottom line is, start over. That means completely deleting whatever profile is in the system and that is easy but not intuitive. I show you how in the new video. Hope this helps.
I got the QR code to show up but when I tried to save/add the car it said an error occurred try again later. So the salesman added my name and profile manually to the touch screen in the car but I can’t add the vin to the Toyota app.
@steve , what if the connected services were set up already to someone else? I had to unlink the previous customer from the connected services portal in order to get back ti the blue screen… same thing stands true with trading in late model 2023/24 with same infotainment system
My husband picked up the car and they set his phone up with QR code. How can scan the QR code with my phone too add my phone to the system without reset his info.
You can’t. The QR is only used to set up the account and there is only one account per vehicle. You can share an account by logging in using the same email and password but there is no need for a QR to do that. You can also add your phone but again, no QR needed. If you want your own “profile” you can get the Toyota app and then pair your phone. It sometimes needs to restart the car but your profile will be distinct but again, no QR needed.
Hello Steve is there a way I can start my new Rav information screen without the " experience drive connect" splash screen loading every time I start my car. I use android audio
It defaults to the last screen you were on except for the mirroring screens. Switch to the radio view and then activate the mirroring (Android Auto in your case) and then next time you start up, it will show the radio screen on start.
If you're getting the blue language screen, you're in good shape. You really don't need to put in a valid phone number unless you want a link sent to your phone to download the Toyota app (that is all that number gets used for). If you already have the app, just put in a random 10 digit number and the QR code will pop up. Use your app at that point to scan the QR and you'll get to the next level.
I own a 2023 RAV 4 Prime. I am not able to reset my system to view the QR code. When I go Settings then Info & Security System reset is on the right side at the bottom of the screen in red but it is not highlighted. Ugh! Please help! Shannon
That means somebody else registered that vehicle. The easy solution is for your dealer to “unlink” your car. Tell them to go into dealer daily, go to the Connected services portal in the vehicles tab. After they put in the VIN, they need to go to the advanced features in the lower right corner to unlink from the previous owner. You can also call 800-331-4331 but they will need proof that you are the actual owner before they unlink the previous owner
I'm not sure I understand the question. If you have an account linked, you don't need the QR code a second time if that's what you're asking. The QR is only to establish the initial account linking.
Everytime that I switch on I get maps , is this normal I am connected using the USB are you saying that I can do this using blue tooth because my phone calls use blue tooth also
@@davewebster1627 I'm honestly not sure what you're asking. The 2020 Corolla uses Bluetooth if you want to use your phone only. If you want to use Apple CarPlay, you must tether the phone. At that point, it is not using Bluetooth to talk to your phone but rather, the charging cable between the USB data port and your phone. The video you're commenting on is a much newer generation unit that uses Bluetooth for CarPlay (and Android auto).
With this method, no it will not. But why are you looking for the QR code if you have an active subscription? The one and only reason to scan the QR is to set up the subscriptions to your Toyota account. it is NOT to set up a profile or attach a Bluetooth device.
@@TrainerSteveClifford i used t-drive app to link the car to my iphone. I used vin then it required another scan “UUID” to add accesory to remote start the car New 2024 Land Cruiser prado btw

Well… you know you have a 10 free trial of Safety Connect? That’s roadside assistance and during that time, your key fob works the remote start? This new system does certainly have some teething issues, no doubt about that, but the benefits are pretty good once you get it running

@@joebelmonte7070 if you want two phones with access to the remote start and location features, there’s only one way I’ve found to do it. Have her log out of her account on her phone. You don't need a QR to add a phone. The QR is only to set up a Toyota account and that only happens once when the car is first purchased. To add a device, go into the settings menu and look under "phones and devices" and search for a new device.
Hey Steve. Ok, my wife has the car added to her phone. All is well. Now, I want to add my phone to the car. it's a 2023 RAV4 XLE HYBRID. How do I get my (second) phone added to the car? (NICE VIDEO BY THE WAY)
This did not work for me. Instead of a prompt for a phone number, it just reloaded my settings. Perhaps because my wife also had a profile. So frustrated by this thing.
You can't have two accounts linked to the same VIN. If you're looking to share the remote features, you have to share the login info. You don't need the full account stuff to get your phone attached to the system though. ua-cam.com/video/UioXWHE8EDU/v-deo.html
I did an update on this video with a better way to zap everything. Short explanation is to go to “info and security “ in the menu and hit “system reset,” that will bring you back to factory fresh configuration
It depends. That will work sometimes but not always. You also don’t need to turn the car off. Press and hold the volume know for 5 seconds and it restarts the radio. You are correct that turning off Bluetooth is the best practice for initially getting things going
Thank you for this! Is it possible to have two drivers using this feature? My husband already registered so how do I get the QR code for my Driver Connect without deleting his profile?
Sharing the app is a problem. You have to use the same login on two different phones. That means you only have one profile but that one profile is embedded on two phones. I did a video no this exact issue ua-cam.com/video/mTYrUlISbSI/v-deo.html
This system is horrible. I bought my 2023 Corolla two months ago and have had issues since. It’s never properly connected my vehicle to the app after trying various things.
Send me an email at steveclifford@sheehy.com and include a phone number and a good timer to call. I’ll walk toy through it. Somebody at your dealership should have done this. Shouldn’t have to go through this.
FRUSTRATING is an understatement! My husband just bought a 2024 RAV4 and we can’t get the QR code, car comes already with a saved profile on my husband’s name (presumably set up by the dealer) and we’re unable to delete it, when attempting to enter, can’t. End of story, can’t set it up. I’M not buying a TOYOTA under no circumstance! My lease is up in 6mo, already deleted Toyota from my list.
It doesn’t work steve. After following the instructiins and restarting the car it goes right back to the same screen without the langauge choice. Unbelievable.
This does not work for second driver/phone registration. I was able to get the profiles created, assign esch profile a phone and key but was unable to get the QR code for adding the vehicle in the phone app for the second profile. Who ever wrote this code should be promoted to customer service specialized in debugging this mess.
The QR is only for adding the vehicle to an account, not for profiles or device connections. Only one person adds the VIN. My other videos show how to add multiple profiles.
This doesn't work now. There's no phone number in guest mode, you can't link up in it, and God help you if you can't remember your pin the second time because it'll go into the death spiral of login, send you a link to download the app, verify you own the $40k+ car you've been sitting in for the last several hours, gotta log in to link the car. This is beyond asinine for a lapse in the billing on connected services.

I describe this process in this video: ua-cam.com/video/mTYrUlISbSI/v-deo.html
Need to add second driver?
Thanks.
This is a common thing so I made another video to show you. ua-cam.com/video/4R2fpB-Ib7E/v-deo.html
Bottom line is, start over. That means completely deleting whatever profile is in the system and that is easy but not intuitive. I show you how in the new video. Hope this helps.
Can a Vehicle be set up with the app for more than a single USER?
Kinda. You have to share the login credentials with a very trusted person. Here’s a video I did on this. ua-cam.com/video/VkweHUrfcv4/v-deo.html
I got the QR code to show up but when I tried to save/add the car it said an error occurred try again later. So the salesman added my name and profile manually to the touch screen in the car but I can’t add the vin to the Toyota app.
Thanks !
@steve , what if the connected services were set up already to someone else? I had to unlink the previous customer from the connected services portal in order to get back ti the blue screen… same thing stands true with trading in late model 2023/24 with same infotainment system
I can’t system reset or anything to get rid of previous owners profile, so I take it to Toyota ?
Hi Steve mine keeps rebooting/ wont stay on. can you help me on this? i have toyota rav4 2023 limited. thanks!!
@@WinniethePooh-bb1pc that needs the attention of the service department at your dealer I’m afraid
@@TrainerSteveClifford oh wow how unfortunate. thanks for the info🙂
Very helpful thank you!!!
I did everything you said and when I put in my phone number a blue screen came up that said connect your account something went wrong please try again
I have a 2023 highlander and i tried resetting it to connect to ny app. But its shows data service disabled. How can i enable it?
If it is disabled, somebody declined the data services and only Toyota can turn it back on. Call 800-331-4331
@@TrainerSteveClifford thank you
I own a 2023 RAV 4 Prime. I am not able to reset my system to view the QR code. When I go Settings then

Ugh! Please help!

I did this and the account wasn’t forbidden when I reset it. But it’s the second account and n it the primary driver.
I'm not sure I understand the question. If you have an account linked, you don't need the QR code a second time if that's what you're asking. The QR is only to establish the initial account linking.
Thank you
How do you add a second driver?
A second driver profile or a second person with access to the remote start features? Very different solutions
Everytime that I switch on I get maps , is this normal
I am connected using the USB are you saying that I can do this using blue tooth because my phone calls use blue tooth also
What year and model of vehicle? Most Toyotas are wireless now but not all
@@TrainerSteveClifford 2020 Corolla Estate luna
@@TrainerSteveClifford by wireless you are not referring to blue tooth
@@davewebster1627 2020 was wired only. You must tether it to use Apple CarPlay
If I do this will it delete the subscriptions that I already have included with my car? (The ones that came with my new car purchase)
With this method, no it will not. But why are you looking for the QR code if you have an active subscription? The one and only reason to scan the QR is to set up the subscriptions to your Toyota account. it is NOT to set up a profile or attach a Bluetooth device.
Is this the UUID code?

Thank you! In brief I spent many hours setting this up & more than once. Exactly why on my 22’ Tundra I used it only twice during the free 12 month trail period and have NO plans to re-new & pay for this Toyota APP. This give the infotainment system a bad name.
Well… you know you have a 10 free trial of Safety Connect? That’s roadside assistance and during that time, your key fob works the remote start? This new system does certainly have some teething issues, no doubt about that, but the benefits are pretty good once you get it running
Thanks so much, Steve...just drove home my '23 Highlander Hybrid this past Thursday, and got into this "vicious circle" of NOT getting a Direct Connect QR code to show up for me (same reason, another profile, NOT me, was there, first...!!!)....going to follow your instructions "right now"...wish me luck, I don't doubt I will get RIGHT where I need to be, when done....!!! Also just SUSCRIBED and hope to be catching more tips from you as I also learn more about the Highlander.
When hitting reset settings will it delete ALL previous drivers?
Yes. Puts it back to factory fresh
@@TrainerSteveClifford Thank you for making this video. I successfully set up my profile and the app on my phone. I'm trying to get my wife set up as a secondary driver on a 2023 Rav4 Prime. She has a profile on the vehicle and she's logged into her own account in the Toyota app on her phone but she doesn't see the vehicle in the app on the phone. The phone app says she needs the QR code to add the vehicle, but I don't want to reset ALL the accounts on the vehicle because that would delete my account. I'm seeing some people saying that you can't have the vehicle added to 2 different accounts in the mobile app. Do you know if that's true?
@@joebelmonte7070 if you want two phones with access to the remote start and location features, there’s only one way I’ve found to do it. Have her log out of her account on her phone. Then, have her sign in using your phone number. You’ll get the text of course but use that code to verify the account. Now you have the same account credentials on two phones.
@@TrainerSteveClifford ok will try that. Hopefully Toyota adds support for this use case as it seems pretty common. Thanks so much for the quick response!
@@TrainerSteveClifford Would that allow the second person to have their own settings/favorites for the gauges/infotainment, or would they be stuck with the primary driver's preferences? I'm currently dealing with the same issues trying to get a second driver set up with the app.
This is very helpfull!
trying to install a second phone, the qr code never comes up. that toyota connect screen i haven’t ever seen (dealer connected our first phone). rly hate toyota electronics. i am an advanced user of all things computer and electronics.
You don't need a QR to add a phone. The QR is only to set up a Toyota account and that only happens once when the car is first purchased. To add a device, go into the settings menu and look under "phones and devices" and search for a new device.
why so hard to connect the phone to the vehicle, you need the phone and app and the car all together, and fowling step by step to finish all.
Right on top of your profile, there’s an “edit” icon. Click on it, delete everything clean then you can follow the rest of this video. You’re welcome.
I tried it n still nothing please help
Send me an email at steveclifford@sheehy.com and I’ll work you through it on Monday
Thank you!
It didn’t work for me. This is so frustrating. My wife set it up no problem but my phone won’t work
You can't have two accounts linked to the same VIN. If you're looking to share the remote features, you have to share the login info. You don't need the full account stuff to get your phone attached to the system though. ua-cam.com/video/UioXWHE8EDU/v-deo.html
Followed the step exactly multiple time, the system will not reset the current profile.
I did an update on this video with a better way to zap everything. Short explanation is to go to “info and security “ in the menu and hit “system reset,” that will bring you back to factory fresh configuration
Mine still doesn’t do it
I have found if you turn off your bluetooth then turn car off then back on, the QR code will come up. No need to factory reset.
It depends. That will work sometimes but not always. You also don’t need to turn the car off. Press and hold the volume know for 5 seconds and it restarts the radio.
You are correct that turning off Bluetooth is the best practice for initially getting things going
@@TrainerSteveClifford thank you for the tip on restarting the radio. Love your videos
I'm in the same boat, did you ever figure it out?
@@easeow I covered how to do it in this video: ua-cam.com/video/mTYrUlISbSI/v-deo.html
Mines does nothing
It doesn’t work steve. After following the instructiins and restarting the car it goes right back to the same screen without the langauge choice. Unbelievable.
This does not work for second driver/phone registration.
I was able to get the profiles created, assign esch profile a phone and key but was unable to get the QR code for adding the vehicle in the phone app for the second profile.
Who ever wrote this code should be promoted to customer service specialized in debugging this mess.
The QR is only for adding the vehicle to an account, not for profiles or device connections. Only one person adds the VIN. My other videos show how to add multiple profiles.
Didn’t work for me
I hate this about my 2023 Tundra!!!! Toyota should fix this his pronto!!! This did not work for me! Thanks for trying!
You can’t get the QR? Contact your dealer out send me an email at steveclifford@sheehy.com and I’ll work you through it
This doesn't work now.
Why do they make this so complicated; what a nightmare
