Please note that the first photo used is a live shot taken at an earlier date. (2002/2003 if I remember correctly).
I've heard talk that the second song here was titled "Godless" and was an unreleased track, or at least that's what the Only Black Metal channel uploaded it as. I'm thinking that if this show has a track we've never heard of before, then it'd be fair to say that Takuya had a lot more in the ways of music than we know about. For instance, this show features Calamitous Day, which wouldn't have an official release until "Ruin" was released in 2007, a little over two years after this show. Also, the final album "Curse of Underground" was, according to his fiancé, recorded and produced in 2007, but wouldn't be released until 2010, three years after the production was finished. So, I have a few theories on the second song of this setlist:
1) The song was planned for another release, but both the song and album were never released after Chaos9's suicide. It's possible that there is a copy of this never heard-from record. It's safe to say that this could be in any standing, i.e. fully recorded and produced, or it was nothing but a bunch of riff ideas asides from this one song.
2) This song was cut from another album, most likely "Lord of Nightmare", as this show took place just two days after the album. The reason I say "Lord of Nightmare" is because the drum machine used was much more characteristic of that album, being overclocked and having that "oh god what's happening", something that the first album, "陰惨呻", was still experimenting with.
3) Finally, there's the most likely possibility that this song was scrapped altogether, with certain parts going to other songs. The best example of this comes from Cage of Chaos from "Ruin", with the intro being quite reminiscent of this song. There's another example, Curse V from "Curse of Underground." This one is a bit of a stretch, but I can see it having been recycled for one or both of the songs.
Idk, these are just some ramblings of someone who has way too much free time, but if you would like to add anything, go right ahead.
I think "ramblings", like these are what makes genres like this so interesting; the fanbases actually take time to think what was going on behind the scene and take some time to do research (for lack of a better word). It can be endlessly fascinating!
I personally think it has to be a scenario between 2 and 3. The production of the backing track that can be heard live is very reminiscent of the production on Lord of Nightmare. Which, as you said, is especially apparent in the sound of the programmed drums. There's also definitely quite some moments on Ruin that are akin to this track in a songwriting perspective.
The only thing I can't wrap my head around is why the song would've been performed live only to be cut or scrapped after... It definitely makes you wonder how much other scrapped material there might be!
R.I.P Takuya
I wish I coul'dve seen him perform live, having most his albums is good enough though. RIP Chaos9
R. I. P. Chaos 9, hail EDM \m/

Rest in Chaos Takuya 🖤
Thirst for pleasure
I think that the second song is "Thirst" of "Lord of Nightmare" album
Where did you find this?
It was sitting on my hard drive for well over 10 years, so honestly I couldn't remember properly even if I tried. I MIGHT have gotten the files from mr. Yamamoto from Sabbathid Records.
@@cultofsingularity oh my. It is truly a piece of history. Thank you for sharing. Coming across anything like this is very difficult.
the moment I heard Thirst for Pleasure off of LoM I was immediately hooked, the drum machine is so overwhelming and over the top on that track
