    Informative and fair review. Thank You. I've been shooting with my 'CL' for 3 weeks now and I am very happy with that camera despite it's too high price. Once the camera is set up, which I found very easy to do, the picture taking experience becomes smooth, fast and accurate. The camera is not 'in the way' and the focus is on picture taking and not the usual 'button salad research' fumble. I would have liked a tilting screen though for easy angle shots. The image quality is simply superb with the 23mm Summicron f/2. Great camera for travel, street and event photography.

      +Takuan yes I agree the simplicity design is definitely a plus. I enjoy shooting with simpler cameras when not doing jobs

      Hehe, 'button salad research fumble' indeed: it's one of the things on the Fuji X-Pro that annoys me.

    Nice review as always. I wonder how the Sigma 30 f1.4 L. Works with the CL

    Since we can't comment on your blog review I'll say 'thanks' here. Your SOC samples are slowly convincing me to upgrade my 'small travel camera kit' from the X-Pro2 to this CL. The Fuji has great sharpness and clarity, but there is something each of their film simulations that I don't like. The CL, while more expensive and less user-friendly, has much better jpgs, especially in B&W. Cheers.

    Richard I have a question if you had a pick of say the Leica QP vs having the flexibility of the CL which would you go with? I am using the Panasonic GX8 with the 42.5 Pan Leica and am deciding between a QP or CL with the 23 and maybe later on the 35 1.4. Good thing about all 3 is they use the same battery so makes packing two bodies easier. I love the Q's files and having IBIS, Leaf Shutter is an added bonus. My concerns are would I be losing much in IQ or say low light, dynamic range capabilities going down from FF to APSC? If not for the 35 1.4 I'd certainly just go for the qp. Age old saying marry the lenses date the bodies.

      I was in similar situation and end up bought a Leica Q myself. I just love the idea of a full frame camera with fast lens. I have a few other interchange able lens camera setup from full frame to m43 so the Q is perfect when I don't want to carry too much gear and worry about changing lens.

      I went to Japan for holiday last year and only carry my Leica Q with me and used it to capture most of the photos in this video ua-cam.com/video/6Hb2Agbbff8/v-deo.html. Absolutely love it

    very informative, thanks ;) my partner and I are thinking getting the CL and the 11-23mm lens. we work in interior design, so we need to take pictures of finished projects. been just using just the iPhone pro, but we want something more... camera quality, if it makes sense. and its been more than 4 years, is it still a good time to buy the CL? or maybe the CL2 is around the corner XD

      It is still a great camera today! CL2? Well hard to say really... Haha it's always hard to say but I haven't heard of such rumour yet

      @@TheRealRichardWong Haha, yeah, I just searched a little bit, no news whatsoever. I agree, even today CL is still great :) and I think 11-23mm for indoor spatial photography should be good.😀

    Your review videos are getting better by the day @Richard :) I know some people feel any Leica camera with a red dot is Great but as you can see here thats not the case. All bias aside even if I had the money I wouldn't buy this camera because it has practically no grip, the design seems weird, & price is high. I'd rather wait for the next generation Panasonic LX100 possibly Panasonic LX200?

    I want to use Voigtlander lens on my Leica CL, what type of adapter do I need?

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  5 років тому

      Assuming you mean a M mount Voigtlander lens? If thats the case, any Leica M to L mount adaptor should do

    But the video shot with CL/TL I found on UA-cam is over sharped, do you find this problem in your model?

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  6 років тому

      not really. 4K videos are sharp but I don't feel they are over-sharpened.

    Can it do time lapse? And how’s star trail performance with the 11-23 and 18mm lenses?

      NETVO TV hi there, sorry I haven't tested shooting star trail with the CL. Maybe I will try it next time!

    Is the 23 summicron good?

    Great compact camera body. Sadly, the lenses are big and clunky unlike M lenses.

    Who pay this money (over $2,000) for a camera aps-c, no image stabilization, low ISO (only 50,000) ?? Compare with Sony A7III at $1995 this Leica is a Toy camera.!!
    .
    You make a great video with a wrong camera.

      The kind of people for whom money is less of an issue but who prefer a certain build, interface and IQ. And I would say the word 'toy' would be better applied to cheap plastic cameras than to this finely engineered tool.

      Not the most bang for your buck certainly but in a year or two's time when you're ready to upgrade the Sony will have dropped significantly vs the Leica. Just look at the Sony A9, A7Rii prices drops when the new models were released.
