John McDonnell seizes ceremonial mace in protest at Heathrow third runway

The Labour backbencher picked up the mace, an ornamental club that represents the royal authority of Parliament, as Transport Secretary Geoff Hoon was unveiling the government's plans in a statement to the Commons. McDonnell, whose constituency of Hayes and Harlington contains Heathrow, received a five-day suspension.
