This is one of those scales I think sounds both haunting and ethereal which allows for open ended ideas. I absolutely love scales like this with their vibe. A very unique scale everyone needs to learn in my opinion.
This sounds amazing! I have been playing guitar for 8 years and I’m not half bad (technically speaking.) But I have never focused on learning theory and it is got to the point where not knowing theory is seriously it is limiting me in terms of improv. How do I learn theory? Like scales, modes and arpeggios. Is there an online course of sorts?
This was beautiful! It really reminded me of something, and then after lots of humming I realised it’s the same progression as Forever Autumn by Justin Hayward / Jeff Wayne! No wonder it was so haunting :) spectacular.
Great. But.. at 0:04 you say “flat seven minor, flat six minor” but then in Dm say C to Bb so clearly you meant to say “flat seven major, flat six major.” Small point but it might be worth an edit.
Been playing 32 years and thought id heard everything, but I’ve never heard this, what a beautiful piece of music. Of course i had to play it immediately. Thank you for showing an old dog a new trick 😊.
That is the kind of music that naturally comes to me when I feel creative. I don't have blues in my soul or super heavy metal (even though I listen to those genres) but rather this atmospheric post-rock vibe.
A vast amount of Ricks music teaching is too advanced for me but it has made me try to understand. Dm C and Bb was so musical this morning it just lifted me out of a hole I had been in for sometime. In Rick &Pat's conversation the few words on strumming made last night's practice a joy. Things are looking good.

Very beautiful riff. Awesome playing as always. Perfect blend of theory to improve what would perhaps be a rather cliche chord progression. Sounds very prog. Rick is the best teacher for those of us who are self taught. “What Makes this Song Great” is the best music series on YT. Please do a video expanding on chromatic harmony. Rick, love what you do and your channel, but this warm up? Oh, you’ve got something here. This is stunning and feels like something more, struggling to break free. The kick off to the Eagles “Life in the fast lane” began as a warm up that Joe Walsh would do without giving it a second thought - until Don Henley heard it.
