The Church is a great band with several very good albums in their catalog. I will listen to some Bill Hicks routines on the way to work today ! I want that Guadalcanal on vinyl ! Sister Surround is an excellent track off of Sountrack Of Our Lives 😊 Thanks again for The Muffs and the shout-out !

I know all about the Hicks-Letterman fiasco. I watched Letterman in the 80's and 90's religiously. I can't believe you were at that taping. I've seen Bill Hicks on his show several times. I do have the cd The Philosophy of Bill Hicks, totally underrated. Guadalcanal Diary I just heard about watching a MGK BOSTON episode a few weeks ago. They're on my want list. I remember The Church album, it got modest play here in town during it's release. I was never a big Tracy Chapman fan but I did see her open up for Bob Dylan in 1988.
I happen to watch your short film "Waimea" a few weeks ago and I thought it was great. It's hard to find good slapstick comedy these days.
Thanks again for sending those CDs of yours. I really like the Rancid disc and I'm pleasantly surprised by the Toilet Boys. I've never heard of them but still a great New York band in my opinion.

Yeh i honestly don’t remember hearing anything by The Church until Under the Milky Way broke out. I was lucky to be at Letterman when Hicks was a guest. Tickets to that show were a lottery so ya never know who was gonna be on when ya went. I went to his show a handful of times and always was pretty lucky with guests when I went. Glad ya enjoying those CDs. Yeh I really like that Rancid one. I know some fans kinda gave it crap at the time but I always liked it. Thanks as always dude!

hey chef glad you took time away from cooking up those churros to watch. hahaha. but i’m a little shocked dude. when it comes to music you seem to know your stuff. i would’ve guessed you’d heard of a lot of these bands even if ya didn’t own their music. at the very least ya must know elliot easton from the Cars? anyway always appreciate ya checking in and somehow someway when i come west later this year i gotta convince ya to make me some churros!!
@@STEVEHEROLD I most definitely know of the Cars. On a serious note I have a very selective memory due to a slight learning disability. My memory and comprehension are limited to certain things. I was never really good at remembering all the band member names and group names, from the 80s and 90s. I think the trouble is I have too many hobbies. The chef, the wine sommelier, the singer songwriter musician, the published author, the artist and the record collector. I need two brains 🧠 🧠 for all that data lol. That’s probably why I have a very selective memory. If you let me know when you’re heading my way I’ll do my best to have you over to the house and I’ll make you those Churros, brother! They’re best fresh. Peace my man.
I need to find that Church album too. Guadalcanal Diary - awesome. Tracy Chapman is having a moment now, it seems, after the Grammys. It's a great record. Cool pickups!

Hi Steve - When that Church record first came out in the states on Capitol it had a different cover & track listing & was simply self titled & never issued on cd. The Elliott Easton album is like his guitar 🎸 playing underrated. Very rarely seen. That Muffs album is the bands favorite. Kim used to shop at the store I managed & was strikingly beautiful. Have to pick KC this weekend.
hey dave. i gotta google the church album i’d like to see what the original artwork looks like. thanks for heads up. yeh i’m really enjoying easton’s album. he’s got a much better voice than i expected. i mentioned this is the muffs’ fave album. ronnie has told me that multiple times. it’s mine too although their first three really are all perfect. kim was the best. i sent her my first short film back in 2001 and she sent me a nice note after she watched it. still so bummed she’s gone. fingers crossed the 49ers don’t win this weekend. Guadalcanal Diary is such an under appreciated band which is great since it keeps the prices of their albums very low. I use to have Soundtrack Of Our Lives and really liked that one a lot. Some very nice pick ups Steve

The Tracy Chapman album was an album that grew on me since last year. I thought it was okay at first but I gained more respect for her the more I heard it. I have her next album, Crossroads, and I liked that as well.

Wow that's an incredible Bill Hicks / Letterman story - never heard that. Love that Tracy Chapman debut album. Other than that, I stick with a compilation for her. That Kinks is like one of those cheapo comps - 10 songs, no real liner notes - can't beat the price though from JT. Cool Elliott Easton CD from Wounded Bird with bonus tracks.
yeh there’s a great article from either New Yorker or New York mag back then about the whole Hicks/Letterman thing. If I find it I’ll post it to ya on facebook. It really drove Hicks nuts at end of his life. So crazy with Wounded Bird and some of their titles going in and out of stock. I’ve teached out to them before when a title was out of stock and asked if there was any way they had one laying around and they would always say nope they’re all gone and then like year or so later suddenly they’re back in stock so you always gotta re-check their site every now and then because you never know.

@@TheAlanRosenbergShow yeah wounded bird can be odd. like their website they do things in an antiquated way. if ya wanna buy from them you either have to call and leave a message and they call ya back or you send them email with your card info. odd.
