Daequan I *tested this* and this was the order I found the shotguns to be in strength depending on distance from opponent:
5 meter: barrel, pump, tac, heavy
5 meter (headshot): barrel, heavy, pump, tac
10 meter: heavy, tac/pump, barrel
10 meter (headshot): heavy, pump, tac, barrel
15 meter+: heavy, tac/pump, barrel
15 meter+ (headshot): heavy, tac, pump, barrel!

JCamb try both. Works well. Obviously can't switch between them mid fight easily. But if you lead with heavy for distance, the double barrel will rip when you get close.

Me personally i use the double barrel with a pump shotgun. Honestly a great duo because in the range of that sort of fight you rather have the pump as a backup because it's damage is similarly higher than other guns.

One thing I found to replace it which is about as fun is to go revolver/deag pump. Use the revolver to start out with and switch to pump, then revolver, then just alternate. Not the smartest close range strat but hella fun

If you can get in the optimal range for this thing it is absolutely insane. I’ve noticed my chance of winning and the amount of kills I get goes up if I have this weapon, because my playstyle is extremely rushy and aggressive. But I personally think it’s the best gun in the game, because of how consistent you can pump out lethal hits with it compared to the other shotguns. Give it a little more time and really get in their face. There is nothing aside from perfect aim with the pump or heavy that can do what this gun can, and they still take two shots to kill a 200 health enemy, this one can do it faster.
Daequan goes on to love the double barbell later on though
