I just want to say the smash-cut at the start from “Hopefully the drive goes well,” to the huge storm was just *Chef’s kiss*. The perfect embodiment of road trip adventures.
That looked horrible to drive in, however I would have had the best sleep of my life listening to the rain and thunder. Good call on pulling over. Safety first. Be safe and have an epic day!
This whole van series...ngl, these are amazing. I can't even express how real these feel and therefore awesome! No fancy edits, music, no professional sound equipment, crew, blah blah blah. Forget all that nonsense lol. You don't need it at all
Love long driving trips by myself so I can play the music I like and as loud as I like. Driving in a rain storm, especially in the dark, is very nerve wracking. You were smart to just park the van.
If your main water supply runs out, always carry reserve water in a container or two, saves paying extortionate prices for a coffee, then you can brew up in your van. Also, if you have a mind to you, you could always do a strip wash. Remember, "Improvise, Adapt and Overcome." Weather has been atrocious of late, globally as well. Glad your safe. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Another upload makes my Saturday! Every time I see you sitting in the driver's seat I get so confused because here in Minnesota, passengers sit there😂 Definitely smart to pull over in that weather! Continued safe travels to you so you can all be together again.
I’ve done a lot of road trips and touring and am very acquainted with those crazy storms that black out every thing around you where you have to find your way safely off the road somehow. Though for me, since I can’t drive, I have to trust that my driver will manage and I certainly didn’t always! Once I was driving cross continent with strangers to go to Burningman and we ran into a tornado! That was freaking scary! It was a very long time ago (22 years I think) so they didn’t have tornado alarms for the phones or anything yet. I am glad for that technology now! Love getting so many van life updates! Keep safe! 🖤
Omg that storm is crazy! I haven’t seen a thunderstorm in ages, they are so cool but intense. Definitely not good for driving. The rain sounds so loud in the van!
I can confirm... 6 euros for a coffee is crazy! What a rip off. Glad you found somewhere to stop and are safe. As a Dutch person, German sounds funny. 🤭 I think you've got the basics. "Wie gehts?" For How are you? Lol me and my partners' van is called Hulkie because it's that bright green colour. 💚 Curious what name you come up with for yours! 😂
It felt like a massive rip off, no more motorway coffees 😂 haha really, I thought they were similar! And oh yeah o forgot about wie gehts 😂 I need to get back on Duolingo. Aww haha I have no idea what to call it!
Well done on having the good sense to pull over in weather like that, sometimes you can be tempted top push on and that is when the bad stuff happens. Also liking these van life vids, good stuff.
That storm was so crazy I live in a flat under the roof and have skylights it was SO SO LOUD all night! Driving in that little visibility is scary I did that on a motorcycle tour once and couldn't see the car right in front of me 🙈 I'm glad you got through it safely!
Good decision to find somewhere safe for the night. You'll get used to the sound of other vehicles around you eventually. I have an espresso machine in my van for fresh coffee; I've been contemplating a coffee grinder for beans next. I prefer to buy food/coffee from non-service station places (as it's so much more expensive at the service stations). I like seeing "distance" signs on roads indicating how far local towns/villages are when driving through France, "2 minutes", "5 minutes" etc. Do they have similar "time based" signage in Germany? It makes finding local places that you can buy food and coffee from all the easier.
I’ve grown to be pretty good at sleeping with noise now 😂 we used to have a proper coffee machine in the last van, i don’t know where I’d even put it in here though it used so much space up 😅 And definitely, buying at service stations is reserved for extremely lazy or urgent occasions 😂 Germany didn’t have that, but it had it the km’s next to most names I think
Good decision to pull over - particularly if you were on the autobahn! If you can’t see, neither can other people! Do they introduce speed limits when the weather is bad? I have been based in Cyprus for over 20 years now where we have very little rain, sometimes none for 9-10 months at a stretch - driving in heavy rain, particularly at night terrifies me! Strange as I grew up in England! Nice to know that German service stations follow the great tradition of ripping everybody off - Perhaps all that peeing in the bushes is a way of aggrieved customers getting revenge! Don’t worry about videos where “nothing” happens - just the logistics and day to day chores are interesting to us folk who have never experienced this type of travel. Looking forward to Nuremberg! ❤👍
As far as I could tell there were speed limits for when the weather is bad, most people were driving carefully because the Germans are so sensible anyway! There’s nothing worse than not being able to see when driving, I’m the same, I hate driving at night especially in the rain 😅 Yeah I didn’t realise quite how much they would be a rip off 😂 I wasn’t sure if it’d be utterly boring but I’m enjoying waffling to the camera! 😅💕
Never quite made it to Nuremberg in this video 😂 The weather has been tranquil ever since....
I really hope that the rest of your travels are safe and sound and quieter without any nasty storms!
@@firemage1990 Thank you! I hope so too 😅💖

Hahaha I really jinxed myself there 😅

I didn’t wake up once 😂 best sleep ever! Thanks 💕

That storm was WILD!!! The sound is always x1000 in a van too 😅
Definitely! Sooo loud 😅
You inspire me! I'm really nervous about the thought of driving and being alone abroad, but you make me feel like I could do it!
That’s amazing to hear! If I can do it I’m sure you could, the thought of it is scarier than the reality! 🥰
You can do it! It's so much fun!
That storm was something else. Happy you found a parking spot for the night! And your german pronaunciation is really good!
Is it!? Thank you haha 💖

Me too! It’s so much fun haha. And yeah it got quite dodgy, I’m glad I managed to find a space
@@AlwaysAwayI wonder, you know how loud thunder can seem to make a house shake, if that is what was setting off your outside alarm
That could’ve been it! It was very loud

I always have some big drinking bottles around so I'm not too buggered, will be more prepared from now on though 😅 Thanks 💖

Thank you!! And haha even the Germans here at the park up were confused at me getting in the other side of the car for the same reason 😅
I'm currently playing Stardew Valley as it rains in-game while it's storming in your video. Double storms, wow! Glad you got through it safely 💚

A tornado sounds terrifying! I’d freak out in that situation 😅 luckily we don’t get those here, thank you 🥰🥰
I'm glad you are safe ❤ that weather is insane.
Next time though get water first, you never know when you get stranded.
Thanks 🥰 and I will prioritise water from now on 😂💕
@@AlwaysAway I'll keep you to that 🤪
Thats cool they have little areas for the vanlife! Ill have to give this a try once I get a little doggo to bring along haha
There’s loads of free ones! Germany is especially amazing for them haha you defo should!
Man that storm was loud!
It was!!

It’s usually quite relaxing hearing rain on the van but not that night 😂
totally!

Need to deactivate outside alarm atleast till the storm is ova❤😂❤
😂😂 I wasn’t sure how
We are due this kinda weather pretty soon here 😭
Noooo 😭
And now I know what a lory (sp?) is! A semi🙂
Haha I did wonder if I’d get a comment about calling them lorries 😂
May the fourth be with you. ❤
May the fourth also be with you!
Would you say Germany is expensive for visitors or was it just that one petrol station?
It was just the petrol station, because it was on a motorway they decided to charge the earth 😅
@@AlwaysAway Absolutely this. Petrol stations are literal highway robbery when it comes to food.
Youde think that the place would open thw toilets just so people werent peeing everywhere
It was open but only for cash 😂 anything for some money!
