- Today I will show you a local wet market that I always go to. It's Mingalar Taung Nyunt Market. But we, locals, called AmalZay. Amal means beef, Zay means market. There, you can buy various kinds of tropical veggies, fruits, flowers, meats, seafood, textiles, clothing, dried goods, spices and herbs etc.
With Much Love,

Reminds me of my mom's morning shopping trip at Be-Lu-Ma Zay when I was a kid. That wet market is no more @94th street, all the vendors are now selling on myan-ma-gon-yi area making a huge mess. Morning glory 300K a bunch such a bargain, we pay 3 to 5 USD per pound in winter, $2 a pound in summer. A bunch is about 2-2.5 pound more expensive than chicken. LOL We didn't have a fridge then so daily trip to be-lu-ma zay in the morning. Ah-mae zay (old location) 38th street zay and Dan Zay (china town) were the alternatives but be-lu-ma zay usually had everything we needed.
And we pay 10 USD per pound on Durian, that is for a previously frozen ones. Cheaper to fly to Singapore, Thailand or Malaysia. There was a Sing $1.95 each in Singapore a week ago and people lined up for blocks (on FB).
I've heard of the Be-Lu-Ma market near Thein Phyu bus-stop, but I've never been there.
