This may make me seem older than I am but one of the things I have come to appreciate from Kirby's videos and the craftsmen he visits is how low-tech everything is. Extremely little computers, electric devices and automation, if any at all. Way more hand made stuff, tradition and proven techniques. Even the studios and shops have very little of that. And I think that's so utterly refreshing.
@@andresmartinezramos7513 really ? Why? You cannot automate this type of craftsmanship. You can't automate or get an algorithm or program to replicate the experience these men have.
@Pukeutuminen wouldn't be bespoke then would it? You've got to have the nuance of understanding and experiencing what can happen with different cuts and body types and that's just not something you can program.
@@louisacapell Well you could literally have a 3D scan of your body and it would then print the fabric to be sewn together. Anything can be automated, but in Savile Row you are paying for the experience of visiting these places, the history and craftsmanship which is why it’s a special thing.
As a seamstress and tailoring enthusiast (by no means even close to an expert) this video-and the others in the series-is among the most valuable videos I’ve ever watched, full stop. Learning from masters and listening to their reasons for adjustments, based on decades of experience... nothing else compares! The patterning visualization was particularly helpful-thanks!
The epitome of bespoke tailoring. Many thanks to Kent, Haste & Suyamba for sharing the detailed pattern making process. Hats off Kirby. What a privilege.
I love the videos with Kent & Haste and could listen to them talk all day. I just hope I can be in a financial position to order something from these masters before they retire
Brilliant to watch and very informative. Interesting watching Mr Haste drawing a pattern in 2D , marking lines in 1D but all the time thinking in 3D ! I'm watching it manoeuvring my back and thinking "so that's the side Collar ? No, that's the back of the collar ? Now I'm confused ". Mr Haste' ability to later alter lines shows what a skilled craftsman is capable of given decades of experience . Probably the best video about bespoke tailoring vIew seen ... and I've seen afew .
We need some behind the scene. the camera, lighting, animation, the edit, music pick etc- so much work is put into each episode. Perfection. Super work from the team!
Fantastic video. I grew up for a good part of my childhood in two tailor shops. I would clean the whole place, client area and workshop for 2 hours for 1 hour of instruction. Loved it. Such nostalgia for me watching this. Looking forward to the next parts.
I appreciate John and Terry's candor. They strike me as authentic gentlemen and professionals. I can only imagine the quality work Suyamba will create under their tutelage, considering John and Terry's comments regarding those who have an eye for this skill. I love working with my hands and delving into a project that allows me to be meticulous. What a marvelous profession to be a tailor of quality formal wear.
This is excellent Kirby. You should have a landing page for interested apprentices that you can refer on to all of these craftsmen - I'm sure these videos shed a lot more light on the fundamental work that they do than what is advertised
Wonderful video, thank you, Kirby! The sheer craft on display was stunning, but then it's the art, too: the way he adjusted the cut by constantly evaluating how the lines corresponded, and he brought all his knowledge to the cutting table, including his knowledge of Kirby, how the material would be cut and sewn. It's incredible stuff, and he makes it look far easier than it is. That is the hallmark of a true professional at the height of his abilities.
Wonderful to see such old school craftsmen at work, no computers, CAD etc, simple stick measures tape and pencils and a huge amount of knowledge and skill! also love they are still working in imperial measurements :-)
Absolutely wonderful to see the product quality and creative continue it increase. The quality of the content has always been fantastic and now the product quality is world leading.
I am 80 years old and have ranged in size from 240# to 310# over the last forty years. It is obvious that during that time,I have not been spending thousands on Bespoke suits that would only fit me for a few months out of forty years. Then came your videos on purchasing a bespoke suit and it has been delightful. The banter and conversation is exactly what I expect and the inside baseball (Or should it be cricket) on how it is is wonderful.
Kirby I have to say, your recent video quality has gone through the roof. Production, editing, animation - is there new members in the KA team? Superb work, this is premium content 👏👏👏
I am looking forward to seeing the finished results! Absolute masters of their craft and could listen to the pair all day. Here is where I will be going to get my first proper suit made.
Absolutely masterful, I love to see the freehand curve drawings instead of always using a curve ruler for them. Years of experience to do that properly.
Thank you Kirby for letting the craftsmen and their processes speak for themselves and giving them plenty of time to do so. Wonderful production values and tailors generous with their time and expertise. As a woman I’d also like to know if Sayumba makes her own lovely work outfits!
I have so enjoyed watching these videos of the 2 gentleman.. they are so very different than others, even the way he is drawing and cutting the suit. .
i have no idea what half of what he was talking about, but he explains things in such a way that is easy to follow and get the basic idea of what is he doing
so looking forward to seeing the suits fittings etc, Kent & Haste are indeed legendary. In my native tongue I have to say ' bye eck lad, thas doin grand wi these clips'. Thank you

Can't wait to see the final results, but I hope there will be more videos of the making and the fittings before we get to that. Very well done, Kirby!
Loved watching this. I’m having a suit tailored myself at the moment and I was fortunate to be able to watch the pattern being drawn and cut out. It’s fascinating. I can’t wait for my first fitting!!
These are a superb series of videos with the Kent, Haste and Lachter team. I just hope they don’t all decide to retire in 2023 because I have decided I will most certainly go to them for my next DB suit. Walking into a Savile Row tailor can be a deeply intimidating experience but these seem to be the best and most approachable tailors out there.
Omg, no one ever taught me about the 6ths section, etc. on my L square. Mind blown, lol. THANK YOU Mr. Haste. I'm feeling both dumb and liberated all at the same time. 😃😆🥰
Preempting the internet’s ability to take things out of context. Just a matter of time before some complains that we animated one line incorrectly… lol. But helps visualize what is otherwise difficult to see because it’s pencil on paper (impossible to film).
I really can't wait for the next video in this series, great seeing the skills and experiences these people have garnered over the years at work, also very relaxing to watch which is a nice bonus lol
It's nothing short of wizardry that a bunch of lines, some numbers, and a lifetime of experience can transform into wearable art. I want to do this before I die, fantastic.

What a craftsman! Amazing. ... I feel like I know all of Kirby's measurements because I've watched the other video a thousand times for the ASMR. "That's grand."
Hi, Kirby, this is unrelated to this video, but what Juvacuir product do you recommend for dying a shoe that has hand sanitizer stains but otherwise is polished in Saphir Mahogany? I don’t believe there is a mahogany option for the Juvacuir dye. And kudos for being a man of classical taste using the Debussy quartet second movement for the opening!
great video the animation really helped in visualizing whats being drawn but I think the sound of the pencil drawing in the animation was a bit too loud as it seemed louder than the people talking
Hi, general question on styling and tailoring: I inherited a wool single breasted long overcoat. It is a size 48 and I am closer to a 44 (46 is a little big 44 a little tight). I would like to keep the 48, is it possible to simply overlap the single breasted coat and add buttons and button holes to make it a double breasted ? Or would this be a faux paus because the shape and style of a doble breasted over coat is not the same as overlapping a single brested coat ? Thanks for any feedback.
It would be so cool if they started some sort of school and an international union for bespoke craftsman. It could grow the industry and reach those who have never seen or heard of these trades. 🔥
If it's just those 3 working in the shop everyday is probably a decent day. Seems quiet, not a bunch of distractions. I'd love that 😂 but I'd fall asleep.
