Fabulous rook double rifle that is sheer elegance incarnate. The 'Royal' Holland & Holland guns or double rifles are known is their excellence, but this double rifle is truly exceptional and perhaps unique.

Another brilliant presentation. I'm interested in this obsolete bore/gauge, what's the next standard bore down so it could have barrel reducers made for it?.
Boss made a matched pair of .22lr double rifles in the early 1990s.
The import mark on the barrel dates it to between 1968 (the first requirement of an import mark) and 2002 (when marks became required on receivers or frames). Based on how the marks look I'm guessing mid 80s to 2002. I wonder about how the gun seems to have travelled, UK to Italy to US to UK at a minimum. We still see 300 rook here on occasion. I recently saw some brass at a gun store. Am I correct that it could be resized for the 295?

Can’t say I know anything about Holland’s record keeping but a lot of those would have been bought as gifts (bribes). Kings (President’s as well) don’t usually need to pay for such things back then. Probably today either. I’d be willing to bet someone high up in England bought it as a gift and simply put his name in the records and probably for shelling the socialists. But who knows. A landowner could get a lot more use out of a double rook rifle than he would a double stopping rifle. Kinda wish I’d have ordered a double 25-20 or something similar rather than my 500NE. I shoot more rabbits and squirrels than elephants these days. 😁👍🏼

Might like swearing, but have you made a video about Purdey self opening double rifle? And why is there no Purdey double rifle for sale, new or used. But HH have quite a few in London shop and shooting range.
I find it amazing that I a humble trades man can own such masterpieces. Maybe not this specific gun, but I absolutely own a double gun every bit as beautiful. Mine is in .375 H&H which is great because ammo availability is fantastic and relatively inexpensive.
Mine has a switch to activate or not the ejectors.
I bet king Umberto would be disgusted!
@@tgsoutdoors I hope so. Doesn’t seem like a nice fellow. The guy who owned my gun owned mines in South Africa and gave them to the workers in the 1980’s before he retired and eventually died. Not a perfect man by any means, but the mines are still there and profitable to their community, (still owned by a collective so not the best run financially, but safer then many).
I’m in Canada BTW, his son sold it to me for $.10 on the $1.00 for teaching him how to shoot IPSC, (competition pistol stuff) as well as Bullseye revolver. I like looking at it more then shooting it, as his father was one of those giant Dutch guys at 6’7” and I’m only 6’1”.
