  • The only reason I did this is I replaced the hydraulic unit and the pedal was spongy after the normal brake bleeding procedure.

    Excellent video bro! I just needed to see how the case is designed because mine has a leaking gasket and that’s all. So now I know how to fix it. Apparently they don’t sale the gasket so I’ll have to engineer one. 😳 A new part is almost $200 and I’ll have to order it.

    If your rich, it sounds like a power probe job! After it quits raining , I've got to look at mine. Yellow and red with the clamp on black!!

    How to bleed Ford RABS Brakes ua-cam.com/video/PbmQSXO9XHA/v-deo.html
    Electronically

    I have a 94 econoline E350 motorhome chassis..Has this RABS on it..The way this valve works
    is when the computer senses that your rear wheels are locking up, it will cause one of those solenoids to block the pressure
    to the rear wheel brakes..Then if the wheels are still locking up more then the computer uses the other solenoid to release pressure to
    the rear brakes..that pressure goes into the spring area and loads up fluid..when you release the brakes, the spring pushes the fluid
    back into the reservoir..What that blue wire at the middle top of the solenoid does is verifies to the computer that each solenoid has centered itself
    to a neutral position
    What causes the spongy pedal even after so many attempts at bleeding the system is one of these solenoid valves is leaking internally into the
    spring area. the pressure to the rear brakes is bleeding off by these solenoid valves into the spring area..making the pedal feel soft
    Solution is to take it apart and clean it out of all the gunk that causes it to leak into the spring area

      Thanks for the info, that makes more sense. Certainly not disagreeing you and that may be another cause of the spongeiness but after I bled this and several other people have messaged me this seemed to take care of their problem.

      @@geterdone The valve on the left is leaking into the spring area..When you are hitting it with the power, you are reseating the valve in the closed position..
      If the valve is slightly open, soft pedal..What you are doing is making the valve seat itself in the proper position..
      You are not bleeding air out of the system..You are fixing the leaky left valve by moving it back and forth till it seats..
      That will work till the valve gets stuck open again with gunk in the system..Then the parts cannon gets loaded again with master cylinders..wheel cylinders etc.

    What was your reason/ symptoms for replacing this part??

    • @geterdone
      @geterdone  2 роки тому

      I had spongy breaks and couldn’t figure it out and I just started throwing the parts cannon at it. Live and learn I guess, I think I made stuff a lot harder on me but I stumbled on a problem that other people have had. I suspect my original problem could have been with my master cylinder and brake booster but to this day I’m not sure because they were both leaking and had to be replaced too so it had air in the system and I couldn’t get it out.

    Do you have to crack the bleeder screw when bleeding?

    • @geterdone
      @geterdone  3 роки тому

      I cracked it and bled the air (on the ABS module) till it looked like all of the air was out but that wasn’t enough. The brakes were still spongy so then I operated it electronically. You also still have to bleed all 4 wheels like normal.
