I love how everyday indie Fred Armisen is. He can just blend into this band I listened to when I was 15 and I don't question it.
I like that Fred didn't try to keep up with J on the guitar and kept his own playing nice and simple. As a guitar player myself, I can understand that it takes a certain level of restraint to not try to show off your chops (even if you don't really have chops haha). And it made his inclusion in the song so much more fluid and didn't take away from DJ's overall sound. Like I rolled my eyes when I first saw that he was playing with them but was happy by the end, y'know?
He doesn't even have a capo? Is he tuned differently
@@Tommyhearnsrighthand it looks like he’s playing barre chords most of the time, so he doesn’t need one.
@@Tommyhearnsrighthand he’s just doing the chords
@@Tommyhearnsrighthandthe song is in C, so he could’ve actually just played open chords, no need for a capo if it’s just basic chords
They let me know I can still be cool when I'm almost 40
Lol J is almost 60.
I’m back in the 90’s
Best generation.
Best music
Amen
that crash cymbal...amazing sound.
I’ve never had the pleasure of seeing them, though this is what live music is supposed to be. Familiar, crisp, energetic, unique, and fun.
Thanks so much for doing these. simply amazing.
+FreakSceneNet right on.. love this band , hometown heroes .. still kicking myself for not going to one of these shows..
That chorus is a hell of a jam session, loved the song when I first heard it in about 1994, was doing deliveries listening to the likes of Smashing pumpkins, nirvana and of course Dinosaur Jr
I think J has the guitar covered Fred!
lmao!
Lol , in all fairness fred is still a fan and the band is letting a fan play with them , they are being cool to not steal all the show because otherwise they'd just do it the same like always. Rock on.
Would have been better to see him play the drums on this track.
This is a GREAT live version of Feel the Pain. Fred, I didn´t even know who you where until then but your contribution to the performance was awesome. Backing vocals were spot on and super nice guitar playing, and for once this band has kept good timing live. Seriously, they are terrible at keeping good time (or at least they do it deliberately but it detracts so much from the songs). Its almost always all over the place. This time only two different tempos (lol) but because the song was composed like that (which makes it a whole different story). Last, but not least, having a second guitar made everything sound so much better. Guys, please stop the preaching. J Mascis has made awesome music over the years but one that USUALLY requires a second (and sometimes a third or fourth guitar) live. He is a master at creating beautiful, original, simple yet catchy tunes. Kudos to Freddy!!
This is pretty cool, Newfound respect for Fred :)
The intro simply awakens me!!!
Generation X...i miss those days...
I think this is the first video where I've actually been able to hear Lou's bass
Julian Merchant
True. J must have missed soundcheck that day.
So cool
Fred Armisen remembering Dinosaur Jr.
Me, know Dinosaur Jr. since a Teenager, trying to remember who Fred Armisen was 🤭

@0:34 "I Loved how listener friendly it was". Tell that to the sound man who shut them off... Back in the 1980s...
KEVIN!
Fuck yeah 🤺
during the fast parts Fred's rhythm guitar kinda works. kinda.
quite-loud, quite-loud
Pixies way
this is more like Loud and Louder Loud and Louder lol
...loves how listener-friendly they are (said while wearing earplugs in his ears)
even j himself wears ear plugs… they all do, their rigs are LOUD dude
Why does anyone care that Fred’s playing you can barley hear him?
I feel like Fred payed a shit loud of money to feel cool and just like all us losers. Would love to have reality sweep us up and away with the real thing...
Waiting for Nirvana + Will Ferrell!
It's a Tele that wants to be a Les Paul!
J’s pedal board though.... that’s not a pedal board, “this”, is a pedal board ...!!
What's next...Adam Sandler with the Doors?
fred armisen was the drummer for a punk band called “trenchmouth” back in the day. he belongs there on that stage with them, trust me
fred giutar no
Why was this 21 and older to get in ?
+Jake Werling Last night's was 18+...maybe the opening show was 21+?
+Nick Egan ok even 18+. Why ?
Jake Werling Liability, most likely
+Jake Werling I went to this one and to the 25th anniversary (of You're Living All Over Me) one a few years back. The latter was all ages. Lots of kids who didn't know how to mosh properly, thought it was an excuse to punch people and work out their sexual frustrations. This show was definitely better (and yes, it did devolve into a mosh pit, but one with much more love and - dare I say - maturity). Not to say there shouldn't be more all ages shows, but I'd be lying if I said they don't have their annoying byproducts.
+Nick Egan ooooo ok
Fortunately, Fred chose the right way for his career, a funniest comedian , not a singer.
Fred's getting a pretty awful muddy tone here
Makes it grungier
first
what's the guitar Fred has. interesting
bAngoSkank100 Fano Alt De Facto
Yeah it's a Fano SP6. I love that guitar! If only they weren't $3000...
look at all those old white folk in the audience. lolz.
FML Fred whatever your name is don't you know who you're playing with!
Fred Armisen.... too bad he had to be on stage with this legendary band.
Too bad such a legendary band has an asshole like you for a fan.
@@bgilley8199 nice comeback bro!!
@@thtavrgwhteguy8808 you know looking at this comment again I wonder if they were just being sarcastic...like "oh I'd hate to have to be onstage with a legendary band" or something like that.
He gets everywhere, and yet appears to have no talent for anything
Is Fred Armisen gay?
Nope
nah, he's dating natasha lyonne
@@jackbaradog lucky bastard.
Fred... Just stop.
