After successful Korg Wavestation & M1 series, we’ve got in our hands a bigger M1's brother -
    Korg 01/W FD
01/W FD having more internal waves, more banks & more synthesis & fx treasures inside.
01/W series sounds fantastic, but many of the sounds were overused in years & we didn’t find any modern recreations around the globe.
So we made a challenge to ourselves - made analog style patches with modern vision & also re-create classic ambient sounds.
In this soundset you will find:
Various ambient pads, drones, swells - cosmic, organic, nature, water.
Various bells & plucks - classic, modern, unreal.
Classic analog strings - massive & wide
All the patches are handcrafted & reacts on MW & Aftertouch.
Made by By Nick Klimenko aka Chronos, a creator of “Organica” for Waldorf Blofeld & “WS Universe” for Korg Wavestation
Enjoy and may the music come with you!

Bought my O1Wfd the year my daughter was born....and I still have them both 😉
It’s crazy to think about purchasing a sound bank for it after all these years....but here I am lol.

Wavestation, M1 and 01 are timeless! This trio have a special character. There are other Synth with more Presets or Ram etc., but they have no soul like these instruments. Like Grandparents, who are living forever!

I owned for years pro76 version, used on two albums and on stage where it was rock solid, so sturdy and versatile (combi mode).
even with no resonance control, lowpass with enphasis combined with good internal samples and dual fx processor (derived from wavestation) made it a great synth...waveshaper tables also make weird noises and FXs good for dark and industrial stuff.
it never sounds warm but really cold, cutting and breathy with a sort of dark alone around it, one of the coldest synth but.....a good cold, not the "sterile" one of most vst, a really m1 on steroids.
PS its piano with other pads were used beautifully on enigma's cross of changes album.

Can't believe you guys cranked out a sound-set for the 01!!!! This board has been on my bucket list for 20 years. There's just something about it I can't ignore. As soon as I find the right one for the right price, which could be forever, I will be buying this!

I was gonna sell mine because I got tthe 05 rack and a USB keyboard (plus inline midi converter). However, because of Pollen and Sea Horses presets, I'm keeping it. lol

yes.... and there are sooo many presets!
      .
Bought the 01w/fd in 2016 and been using it ever since.
Printed out every cool bank there was online, making patch-notes etc.
It is now 2023 and there are still banks I didn't hear, didn't play the patches.
      .
      I owned a poly 6, a poly800, and still own a Gaia, a yamaha s90. ...
The 01w I am still soooo happy with. :-)
Together with NI Kore the best synth I bought.

I bought the O1W/FD when it first came out. I still have it & I can't even count how times I've used it on stage. However, I've had to make some repairs to the circuit boards (using an old hard drive cable & making bypasses) and replaced at least a dozen key springs on it. Such a great board!! In the age of VSTs, I usually use a lighter keyboard, but I still bring the O1W out sometimes.....Great sounds, by the way!!! Well done!!

    • @bradjohnson581
      @bradjohnson581 Рік тому +1

@@richman_music_inc - You will need to replace a skinny flat piece of metal wedge underneath that key. You will have to disassemble the synth from the bottom, getting to underside of the keys. Then replace the 'return spring' in that key. I don't know where you can still get them, but you could switch it from a key at the very top or bottom....

a friend of mine had one of these new. I never really got to play it. I remember the "full pipes" patch and one called "Bryan's run" which I think was an aftermarket patch imitating the guitar part in "run to you." he used it mostly for the piano sound, brass and electric piano. I don't think he ever fully explored the range of what it could do - he bought it just because it was the hot new thing at the time. I bought a new Trinity plus in 1997 and loved it for about 2 years. but the sound never really did it for me.

I pre-ordered one before anyone heard it. I still really like the analog synthy stuff and pads bar none. I recently bought an 05r/w for $150 that has some more ROM in it plus expanded effects. It's a half rack nice and small. I think they both have "that" sound and are VERY similar, but the 05 is based on the X5 that has all the 01/05/roms plus extra.. Missing Pollen and Sea Horses on the 05, though.

I have a Mac and a Korg 01R/W. What is the simplest bit of hardware and software that I would need to add to load and manage 3rd party sound sets such as this. Secondly, any recommendations on how to program ambient/textures/evolving multitimbral sounds? Or alternately other sound sets you may have for sale?

Audio interface with midi in/out, two midi cables.
Snoize free software for Mac to load sysex files.

Thinking of buying one, only downside is that the disk drive is removed so I'm unsure if I will be able to install any synth patches or soundbanks. If I was a little better at tweaking electronics maybe I could replace the disk drive with a usb slot, that would be awesome. But I don't quite have enough know-how to do it.

hello, I want to tell you about my synthesizer Korg 01 W when I got the synthesizer, I had voices that flew off, I thought it was normal, but when I watched the video, I didn’t understand why everyone has cool sounds, and I have endless dry sounds time passed and I dismantled the synthesizer to clean it and saw that there was a disconnected wire near the floppy drive, I stuck it into the floppy drive, turn it on and hear how it makes noise, I uploaded sounds and was shocked that there were such cool sounds, I turned it on and off and that's it it worked but after I turned it back on all the sounds disappeared, I download the sounds but it gives an error what to do

Except for the pianos, the 01/W would still be useful as an allround synth, due to its sonic power.

    • @TheHatMusic
      @TheHatMusic Рік тому

I've gigged mine a fair bit, and other than the weight, it's fantastic. Even the piano sounds are pretty good! They don't sound like pianos of course, but they were so extensively used in the 90s that they can be used to good effect live. If you put the time in editing the patches, you can get a reasonably approximation of a rhodes as well.
