Even if it was Shelf Stable for only 50 years, I instead of hundreds ... Why not use More Nutrient Dense flours like Coconut or Quinoa flour ... what if you added Freeze Dried Chia seed powder or other High Nutrient seed powders .. ??? Lets bring Hard Tack up to date .
Then it wouldn’t be hardtack anymore. It’s more tradition and history than anything. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it 😂 but we’re all for new stuff that actually has more nutrients, calories, etc. hardtack is just so simple & cheap to make.

I love traditional methods for lots of things Definitely... but as crazy as this world is getting ... just looking for the best real world ways to prep for real .. not just nostalgia and if we can make something just a bit better with New Technology or with **( Much Easier Obtainable Ingredients ) why not .. Einhorn / Quinoa / Spelt / Amaranth / Teff / Buckwheat .... All Of These have an All Purpose Version ... ??? I mean come on ... these use to be wrapped in cloth = now we have Vacuum Packaging.

You just soak it in water for about 10 to 15 minutes and it softens right up
Place it in your coffee ☕️
Or soup 🍲, water 💧. Break it up, suck on it a little bit. So ,all these things will help
