I filmed this video about a week ago but it looks like in that short interim they have raised the price of pastrami to $19.25 and corned beef to $18.95. It's still cheaper than most delis in the NYC area but the price has gone up quite a bit. Just wanted to clarify for you all
Eat that fuckin sandwich already! Over 12:00 minutes before sandwich review, Also eat the sandwich first when its hot so you can give it a honest review.. then eat the side's Rookie.
@@animaladam5 I’m familiar with the process for Katz, been going there off and on since I was in college…nearly 30 years ago. I also have a friend who owns a pretty well known bar/restaurant in the South Bronx who sources their pastrami from the same purveyor as Katz. Just making a joke for the most part.
My Brother!- My dad was a waiter at Wolf's Deli (57 and 6th) Jewish deli all his life. I moved to NJ about three years ago, I know Harolds. I'm heading to this place ASAP. Thanks!
Awww UA it’s so endearing to see you being taken aback when a fan approaches you. No idea how this place is charging 14.95 for giant piles of meat. Insane. What a gem.
@@NguyenQuang-tm3ou I agree but don't understand why commenter’s blame him. And sadly why there is/are so much hostility and racial slurs like ‘do Chinese food reviews only’ directed at him; yet these same Trolls still watch his vids?
Glad you finally visited this spot. I went about 2 weeks ago and the pastrami is simply wow! I brought 2. One for me and one for a friend. Blown away. I ordered ahead as my order was ready when I arrived. I had it to go. Can't beat the price. Going again soon. Forget the wait and the price at Katz's.
Too bad by ordering in advance though you didn't get to see them slice it! But yes, the food is excellent and as good as Katz's just without the insane line and price
I grew up in the next town over from Garfield in Lodi, NJ. I have been going to this place regularly for the past few months. The pastrami Rueben’s are insanely good and I agree, they definitely are in the conversation with Katz’s, especially when you consider the much lower prices. I’ve long since moved away but this place is worth the drive.
that broth is clear cause it's a reconstituted shelf-stable product, probably Minor's (a very common brand for gravy/broth found around the country in restaurant supply catalogues)...unless you saw the kitchen shoving whole chickens in a huge stock pot filled with water and mirpoix.
Man, I am just enamored with how many videos you are making these days. Keep up the good work. I really want to travel out east soon; I never seen pastrami like that before.
Hey UA. This was a good one man. I think I would definitely lean towards this place over Katz’s for the obvious reasons. No long wait and the price point. The comparison of the actual product is very similar to Katz’s. Thanks bud. 👋🏽
In England the “corned beef” you are eating here is called “salt beef” a London Jewish delicacy. Corned beef is a tinned meat served cold in sandwiches with sweet brown pickle ( Branston ) Great review. Loving it
Apparently the owner of this restaurant was a former employee (slicer from what I read) of Katz's. Totally explains why the free sample and the eerie likeness. I wouldn't be surprised if the pastrami itself is being outsourced from Katz's supplier too.
Another great Jewish deli review UA!!! That looked amazing, and the matzah ball soup looked the closest to my late mothers I’ve ever seen on one of your videos. Keep up the great work!!! ❤
Hey UA. Thanks for playing my song I wrote for your background music. Also when you bring your own drinks to a restaurant they might think you’re a little cheap.
I'm like 20 minutes at most from this place and will definitely be trying it sometime soon. My go to pastrami place back in the days was Carnegie Deli in Manhattan when i used to live there. Cant wait to try this place for sure.
Really proud of dat the growth of your channel, I was watching your material way back when it first started baby steps and all, so ya know - ya kind of feel like “our own”, for those who watched you from the beginning. Love your stuff man. Great work
Its not a free sample there or at katz, they cut a piece of meat that was going on your sandwich anyway. Its a free sample if they give you something that you didnt order.
@@maitrehg I guess i should've provided the exact location. But, here in Toronto, you're looking at least 22dollars+tax minimum, and not that much meat to begin with.
I'm not into corned beef, but that pastrami looked delicious. PGB is definitely going on my bucketlist. I've only been to Langer's Deli. Your popularity is well-deserved.👍
Hey Guy, there were three (3) popular NYC deli destinations: Katz's, Carnegie (closed) and 2nd Ave Deli. If you haven't been, I recommend you hit up 2nd Ave, if for no other reason than to checklist. Great food, nice ambience, off Tourist Track, prices likely fall somewhere between Bistro and Katz's.
The cool thing about Carnegie Deli back back in the day was that you would often find yourself sitting next to celebrities, sometimes at the same table, because they put different parties at the same table because of lack of space.
I just came back from eating lunch at the Pastrami Grill. This was my second visit. I'm sorry to say I don't really like their pastrami. No doubt it's tender ... fall apart tender. But the flavor is lacking. There's no "beefiness" or umami taste to it. The pastrami tastes boiled out. As a matter of fact, it's hard to distinguish the pastrami from the corned beef they taste so much alike (as in "blah").
Great review UA! Everything you ordered looked fantastic! I actually like the greasy. Jewish food was fat concentrated to help sustain through meager times.
Another great review! I really wish I live much closer to NYC or New Jersey, as I live in Toronto Canada and will probably never make it there. I’m drooling right now and wish I had that pastrami sandwich in front of me. UA, if you ever make it up here to Toronto Canada, there are lots of great Jewish jellies here. I really like the pickle bar. It has several locations in the Toronto area but the original one is Leslie Street in North York and I think they have a fabulous pastrami sandwich and die. Sorry that was pickle barrel.
Great review UA. After seeing you in @NYCHotDogStands channel for Papaya King I am awaiting the collab. I hope he takes you somewhere for dogs and you take him somewhere for anything other than a hotdog... Maybe a salad bar or an açai bowl.
Best Jewish delis in New Jersey are Harold’s New York deli in Edison and Eppes Essen deli in Livingston period. That matzoh ball dumpling can’t even hold its shape. Sandwich looks good though I have to admit. The two delis I said above, give them a try. I miss the old Tabatchnick’s in Milburn. They were the best. Pickles right out of the old wooden barrel, the meat pulled out with a pitch fork from the water and sliced right in front of you by hand. I miss them. They even got their soups into famous supermarket chains.
Reading the comments, I feel bad for UA over some commentor’s hostilities. I thought he did a decent job reviewing this place. Perhaps it would hv been optically better if he just did not mention bringing the bottle water with him. But overall a good find to me.
You should have went to Hershel east side deli in Reading Terminal market when you where in Philly they have a good sandwich for $16 with just as much meat as these places probably better to it's definitely not dry
