One of the coolest dudes and frontman of all time. Eric Burdon put his heart full of soul in his singing ! His body of work with War is so overlooked and I always admired his work in different types of music !
Those who grew up listening to this song, Cheers to you ! We were the last generation to experience the frequency of music of feel good songs as this one....dig that girl !!!!!

doctor steve. There is an original video of this when it first came out in 1970, without the scratchy sound of the needle on the vinyl record. Although I have to say, that scratchy sound gives this a texture that takes me back to a much better time and place!
I will never forget the time I took purple haze, (this was straight from a friends older brother that went to Berkley back in 1970) I took it and fried for 4 days straight. I coulden't come down either!!!!!!

One of my all time favorite songs!!! I was 10 yrs old when this song came out and i remember this song playing on the radio as our family was driving from Baltimore to our new home in Miami. great times!!!
+aaron kramer Beautiful animal in your photo and I was 17 yrs old when this came out. I graduated that summer of 1970. Great memories and smokin' times for sure!
Wow... Eric Burdon ..Bob Dylan ..Arlo Guthrie ...Jeanie C Riley ... Bob Denver...Bee Gees...God so many great artists that tell a story in there songs that take us away.. love them all...and thank them all.. for being part of my and many others lives during the 60s till now...
Do you remember when you had to have talent to make music, why do you think we keep going back to the quality of music put out when we were young. My son plays the music of my youth I don't play the music of his.
My boys love listening to the music of my youth. I don't so much enjoy the music of their youth. Sometimes, but not often. I still try , for them, but nothing beats 60's and 70's. Even they agree, and are usually amazed by my generations music.
You are so right. I used to think maybe I was just becoming an old fart until a friend's son who is only 18 got into my car and Paint It Black came on the radio. He knew all of the words. I said to him, "hey I was only about 4 when this song came out. How do you know it?" He replied, "This is all me and my friends listen to. The stuff they play on the radio now is pure shit." LOL
I'm so glad to finally hear the full version of this song - I remember, back when I was a kid-even like 11 or so & when they'd play it on some FM station you'd always hear the full song but then, for some reason, around the late 80s into the 90s and on, it's as if that version disappeared and I kept getting so frustrated-what had happened was, I suppose for some greatest hits record or something, they edited out the whole 2nd verse - the part where he says "now wait a minute/I know I'm lying in a field of grass somewhere/So this must just be a dream..." - and from then on, every time I'd hear it on the radio, they ALWAYS played that edited version - there was no reason to-especially when those "Classic Rock" stations popped up-I mean, they'd play long tunes by other bands - like long Zeppelin tunes - "stairway" or "Kashmir", etc and other stuff - I can't think of 'em all but they weren't adhering to that idiotic "3 minute rule" for pop tunes. So why the hell didn't someone finally realize this was a stupid edited version and get the right one on? Once in a while, if I was listening to a "classic rock" station and the song would come on I'd sit and listen, hoping (always) in vain that just maybe they'd play the full version - but they never did. That is so fucked up! I'm so glad to have found a copy of it, though, because I KNOW I wasn't crazy and didn't just imagine that there was a missing verse this whole time. Thank you very much to whomever uploaded this version -good to hear the right one -even if it's on a vinyl record w/a few pops and hisses. No biggie. That (full length) one is one of my favorite Eric Burdon tunes, next to the Animals' "Sky Pilot" and their "When I was Young".
My older brother had this same 45 back in 1970. One of the most hip songs to hit radio. Eric Burdon & War. 'sounds about right. I really dig the pipes on this one.
Eric Burden and War... awesome combination!!! takes me back to my youth... what a wonderful time... would give up anything to go back for just one day...
Back in my early 70's. Was a majorette twirling my baton to some of the most popular songs of the day. Still love the music but gave my twirling up. At 61 I do think it is time! After a couple of years as Eric Burdon & WAR, Burdon left WAR, and WAR created the iconic song, 'Low Rider' , and so many other great hits, 'Cisco Kid', 'The World Is A Ghetto', 'Slippin' Into Darkness', 'Why Can't We Be Friends?' and 'So' many more multi-platinum/gold recordings. Eric Burdon is in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. #WhyCantWARgetIn?
I think of my friend, Keith, when I hear this song. RIP, you long-haired leaping gnome. Maybe we'll sail again, amigo.Fair winds and full sails till then.

Back in the late 60's we all had good stereos and were always bitching about rumble and hiss and crackle....I was running a standard Garrard turntable with Shure Type 2 Improved cartridge through a big Pioneer amp and out through AR3 speakers...Heard Let It Bleed, brand new, on that set. Now, I love the hiss and rumble 'cause the actual music coming out is much cleaner and crisper than any digital device....
I can remember this song from primary school , I must have been about 8 or 9....it took me away to 'another place' and it was amazing !! Such a wonderful time for music...so exciting ..so new... unreal stuff !!!!!!! Not sure if I was an unusual child ...or did others get into it young like me ??????? So much music blew my mind as a kid....
Thank you all for The.kind comments! I love Eric Burdon! Spill The Wine is awesome! You've given me an idea! How about an Eric Burton ( solo.; and with The Animal's?! SKY PILOT IS ANOTHER GREAT SONG! I listened to this song a lot as a kid, on some random CD, but never knew the name. A few months ago I was in NY digging through a record store, typical thing I do when traveling about. I saw this 45, and thought "is this that song I listened to?" so I put it on the table and I took a listen. And all the feelings and thoughts and nostalgia came rushing at me at 120 beats per minute.
Had to forward thru entire tracklist to get back to the one you wanted to replay! But then I got Happy Trails and it was ALL GOOD! 😆 THOSE were the days! In the Army and in love with an Arkansas redhead !
I had a reel to reel. Was so excited when I got a cassette player that was battery operated and I could take my music with me. Eight tracks were fabulous
Love this cut. Nice ear-worm guitar goes nicely with the vocals and he lets it rip through your brain on his lead guitar riff. Then, voila, he repeats that stunt on the next cut....No. 1 Man. LOVE IT!!
I was 15 years old hitch hiked across montana and idaho to seattle washington to the Buffalo peace convention ie rock concert jimi hendrix janis ten years after etc all the woodstock bands were there what an experience!
Ahh the original release version. Thank you for Posting this version. The recording sounds very decent.. you did well. This song turned me on to that hell of a band Eric had found and War really hit their stride after he split. They were just as tight in person as in the studio. They were into Funk when it was only them and George Clinton. All their music sounds as good if not better than when it was new. Thanks Again for Posting this version

War and Taj Mahal!!!!
He was also in a little band called The Animals
Yes but it was cool while it lasted . War whent on to make more great music
It's a travesty
I went to see War in 1986 when I was 21. Vanilla Fudge, Grand Funk Railroad and Rare Earth! At a now defunct rock club in South Boston. "The Channel"

I think of my friend, Keith, when I hear this song. RIP, you long-haired leaping gnome. Maybe we'll sail again, amigo.Fair winds and full sails till then.
Lovely sentiment ♡♡♡
"Derrama el vino", hace 50 años que no escuchaba esta canción, Erick Burdon , se toco en mi fiesta de promoción del 5to de Secundaria
Thanks ma. One of many you have introduced to me that gave a tranquil escaping moment from the horrors and beauty of our
adventure to Khandahar some years ago best song sent. Your son
Well said!

Such a wonderful time for music...so exciting ..so new... unreal stuff !!!!!!! Not sure if I was an unusual child ...or did others get into it young like me ??????? Always loved this song. Perfect in/for boogie nights.
Seeing Eric Burdon live is on my bucket list
Always brings a smile to my face when I hear this song. I remember the first time I heard this song-I had just graduated from high school.
I'm 53. Years young but I remember my uncle's listening to this when my dad wasn't around and really loud
Who can still remember the 8 track?????
My grandpa made a living selling 8 tracks lol
I used to record them making my own special mixes. My brother had bought a rare 8 track recorder during his Vietnam war navy days.
Awesome tune . Still love to listen 👂
Thank You for sharing this classic.... great job on bringing her alive....!!! Sounds GREAT...!!!
Truly a cool song as ever there was,is.
I moved from Fla. to San Diego in 1970 when I was 19. This is my moment in time
Fantassstik!!! 🎶🥂🍾💕👈
Love this cut. Nice ear-worm guitar goes nicely with the vocals and he lets it rip through your brain on his lead guitar riff. Then, voila, he repeats that stunt on the next cut....No. 1 Man. LOVE IT!!
I was 15 years old hitch hiked across montana and idaho to seattle washington to the Buffalo peace convention ie rock concert jimi hendrix janis ten years after etc all the woodstock bands were there what an experience!
sproofer1 Nice ~
I was a teenager when this a hit. What a fun time that was. I used to play this 45 a lot. Great exercise song.
Randolph the frog & jack I took a class called QUEST FOR UTOPIA and this is one the records I shared with my class mates. Made an A in that class too!
