You'll need much larger supply of balsa than just the minimum amount required to build a single tower. I would recommend having at least several sheets of 3/16" to make the legs from and several sheets of 1/16" to make the cross-members. Good luck this season!
Stay tuned! I plan on releasing all the STL files I used for this build including the jig and other supporting pieces. I want to wait until I have videos out explaining how to use everything as there are some unique challenges this year. My plan is to have all the initial videos published by 9/21
If you mean the high speed camera, I use a Chronos 2.1 camera and typically shoot at around 2600 fps for a great combination of image quality and speed.
@@balsaengineering6686 Thanks, we figured it was a high-end camera. Unfortunately, that’s outside our budget. We use slow motion cell phones @ 960fps but there not nearly as clear.
@@moorhus Don't forget lighting! I also have (2) 300 watt LED video lights with 2x Fresnel adaptors on them only a couple feet away. Try to get as much light as you can and frame the device as close as you can (without any zoom). One thing you'll find is that all phones and even most high end DSLR or mirrorless cameras have a rolling shutter. That can do weird things to the result during very high speed motion that isn't reality. The Chronos is a global shutter camera which doesn't have that problem. The ideal camera would be one of the very nice Phantom cameras, but those can easily cost $150k+!! It'll take a lot more subscribers before I can get one of those :)
thank you for this video!
we love your videos!
how much balsa wood is actually needed to create a tower including the bonus?

can you release the jig file?

What camera and frame rate do you video at?

Does this tower qualify for the bonus?
Yes, this tower was built to the bonus design specification and held > 15kg
If my eyes don't deceive me is that triangular balsa wood you are using for the main members of this tower?
Indeed it is! Stay tuned for future videos where I explain how I make those legs!
