Almost sounds like: "My wife attacked me with scissors, isn't that impressive how hard my life is? Let me see if I can get her to do more, then I can tell everyone about that too"
...It's the oppression Olympics type of thing maybe, OR they don't have anything else to define themselves by, so they just lean into the chaos so they can have new traumatic stories to talk about, instead of trying to develop a personality...
...That sounds insane, I know, but I've encountered these types multiple times, it was exhausting to listen to.
