Well, there's a blast from my past. I lived about a half-mile from here in the 60s and 70s. Odd to see the old cars again, especially in triples instead of the paired cars that came later.
From 2:08 on it's footage of the Jamaica line running between Elderts Lane and Forest Parkway, prior to 1955 (when the BMT standards were replaced with new R16 cars). It's a little eerie to see the train at 2:43 literally running past my old apartment on Jamaica Ave...nearly 20 years before I was born.
The R16s served the Jamaica line for some years. Occasionally you could find one on the LL Canarsie line. After November 1967 you could find them on some IND lines like the EE and GG.
City Line station at Grant ave& Liberty was the last stop from 1894 to 1915 when the dual contracts extended the line to Lefferts blvd. Always 3 car/C type shuttle from Rockaway ave to Lefferts from 1940 to 4/26/1956 .. If you look close you can see the 1894 built el connect to the 1915 built extension.
The last LIRR train to Ozone Park ran on June 8, 1962. This was after the branch was single tracked in 1958 and the service reduced from two trains a day to one.
In this age of tumultuous times, you would think that you would have posted something more relevant to the issues of today, Thanks to you I have wasted 10 minutes of my life never to be regain thanks to you and your posting this garbage! I mean really who cares about some stupid train/bridge from long ago? I had thought (wrongly!) that your posting would some relevance to us today, I mean why else really? Escapism into the ;past is not the answer todays issues
Obnoxious, aren't you? If you are so stupid that you can't push the "stop" button and have to wait to the end of something you don't want to watch you have major problems.
The BMT always designed such creative, innovative and interesting rolling stock!!
Nice piece of history. I rode the Standards on the Eastern BMT line back in the 60's. Thanks for the memories.

Enjoyed this. I grew up just a few blocks away. It was after this video filmed, but still nostalgic.
The new ramp for IND trains is taking shape.
This is the only channel that gets my day better. Tremendous effort much appreciated.

Great piece of history.. this is amazing.. where do you they find all this cinema gold.
But this is truly amazing
I'm not sure but I think that's liberty Ave from rockaway blvd
1:35. The LIRR Rockaway Beach Branch running under the Fulton Street EL. By 1955, the Branch was down to service only as far as Ozone Park.
Also, the IND subway would take over both the Queens segment of the Fulton Street El, and the Rockaway Beach branch of the LIRR south of Ozone Park.
The last LIRR train to Ozone Park ran on June 8, 1962. This was after the branch was single tracked in 1958 and the service reduced from two trains a day to one.
Why does that music remind me of a Folgers Coffee commercial?
I'm just here for the mta gone wrong joke
This most likely contributed to my grandmothers rare kidney tumor. (Growing up nearby exposure to fumes)
They were electric

You are just a dick
Nigga go away
You are a waste
I hope that was sarcasm, in today’s world I am unsure. There is an awful lot of bigotry about statues these days as well.
