I've been playing multiplayer for a year and this is how 8 out of 10 sorties go for me. Fire a missile. Miss. Go for guns. Miss. "oh fuck". Hit the ground. Love it! :)
The A-4 wheel brakes are insanely sensitive... it took me a good bit of practice with my cheap-ish Logitech rudder pedals before I got comfortable with the feel / feathering. Very little toe breaking is required and you're almost guaranteed to lock a wheel if you try to turn at more than 70-72% engine RPM. I am in full grandma sunday driver mode whenever I have to ground handle that plane. Also be careful with the knob settings and the station switches. If you have the wrong thing selected on the mode select knob and both Fox2 station switches active, you can fire both Fox2's at the same time (I think it's "step / pairs"). Unfortunately the missiles will just converge, collide with each other and explode a few hundred feet in front of your plane.
It’s funny you mention the pairs thing because last time I made that mistake, one tracked the Froggy I intended to die, the other tracked the F-5 30° off bore. Guess which hit? 😅
@@Bullet4MyEnemy well... I already know that DCS jank is best jank, so I'll vote for the teamkill. lol. After I did it accidentally online, I replicated it offline... but now that I think about it I was only trying to fire at a single, unsuspecting friendly drone directly in front of me... might be time for some additional experimentation. Time to load up 4x Fox2s and a four ship of unsuspecting friendly drones... curious if I can salvo fire all four stations at once.
@@control_the_pet_population I think it will very much fall to RNG, but no doubt it will be possible, just a case of when rather than if. I foresee a lot of pressing Shift + R in your future lol
Just so you know early model a4's were steered by holding the left or right brake and the nose wheel was designed like a caster wheel for simplicity and save on weight and was often a significant pain in the ass to steer while taxing
I knew you could click to remove it, but I kinda hate it not being there. Like it’s annoying leaning around it, more so than it would be in reality, and I know removing it is purely to account for the gameyness of leaning being awkward, but still… Would for some reason prefer to struggle than it look “off” 😅 Have actually got all that panel on my HOTAS, just couldn’t remember what was bound to what without looking, don’t fly the Skyhawk as much as I should.
Hi Bullet, been loving your content recently, especially the dry humour. I’ve been flying on ECW as my main server for the last few weeks since starting DCS. I fly the F5. How do I get AWACS to pop up in that black window in the top right with pictures and additionally how do I get it to stop spamming me like my girlfriend when I’m on a night out to the point when I can’t tell what the @#&£ is going on?
😅 Thanks The auto updates are the F5 option from the EWR menu, “State: True” is updated every 30 seconds. “State: False” turns them off again. I think it’s: / - Comms menu F10 - Other F1 - EWR F5 - Auto updates
Joe had shot me earlier so I was constantly fighting a roll tendency to one side, I think focus on that meant I didn’t realise how extreme my descent rate was and I just ended up decking it like a noob.
@@averytiredman4857 Yeah, it’s surprisingly capable in the dogfight if you’re not too weighed down, need to fly it more to figure out the best way to use it
I forgot just how freaking good the A-4E Mod is, dang. She looks like a real module nowadays

Btw the A4 can lock its wheels at any speed according to the manual.
Which means it can annoy me at any speed lol
What typ of aim-9 you use? Ds?
