I like the idea of it. Because everyone has at one point said they want a time machine, but has realized they never get one, because we’ve never met our future selves before.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember hearing that the creators of Rick and Morty were inspired by Back to the Future. Though obviously they did a better job at making it their own thing.
If anything the story reminds me more of "Doraemon". A manga series for children that started sometime in the early 70's about a 9 year old boy who was one day visited by cat-like robot babysitter that keeps all kinds of wacky and physics-breaking gadgets, sent by his own great grandson also to help him avoid a miserable future. The series is technically still ongoing long since the original author passed away (Fujio F. Fujiko) but it's been through several revivals, reboots, and spinoffs.
Minor correction Saberspark - it's the Church of *Jesus Christ* of Latter-day Saints. Including Christ's name in it is the most important part about it! And yeah, BYUtv has a lot of "rip-off" shows that are mostly just mid-quality, tropey shows produced out of Utah
I think they’re definitely some Rick and Morty influence in this show. It’s not necessarily a “rip-off”, but more like someone’s attempt at a kid friendly alternative.
I’m forever disappointed that this series wasn’t done in a slightly different way. The concept is SO good and rlly intriguing to me, but the way it was executed leaves something to be desired. I wish I could have been on the writing team or something
@ I commented this under the full vid Saber made about this: “Why didn’t they make it so that the old guy was going back in time to stop his past self from accidentally killing his sister? Maybe somehow his awful relationship with her ended up causing her death, and so he spent the rest of his life inventing time travel to bring her back by getting his past self to be a better brother. That’s an automatic emotional character motivation that would just make him really interesting. May be a bit dark for a kids’ show, but idk, I’m not a professional writer or anything. I think it would work if executed in the right way. Edit: wrote this, unpaused the video, and Saber immediately said the same idea XD My point still stands though!”
To be fair, the idea of a crazy old scientist with a teenage boy sidekick came from Back to the Future, so if this is a rip-off just for that, then so is Rick and Morty. If anything, the idea of them both being the same person at different ages with the old man trying to change his fate sounds more unique than just doing a straight parody of BttF right down to Morty's name. It's probably not as well-made, but hey, credit where it's due.
It looks like a decent cartoon that could have held its own but I think BYU TV could be holding it back. I don't think it's primarily Mormon and that's okay too.
This thing could have been so good if they made the main character someone who’s done some terrible shit and holds mountains of regret and emotional trauma for actions he can’t take back. Make him go back in time to prevent himself from becoming that person and boom you’ve got a banger cartoon if written well.
As a guy whos seen a lot of mormon media over the years its usually way higher quality than most evangelical media. They seem to understand that you need to be more entertaining and less preachy. Also they usually have higher budgets
On BYU tv and other Utah networks that are backed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (my mother forces me to say the full thing) there isn't usually strictly Mormon stuff. I used to go to my VERY MORMON grandparents and watch PBS kids, so🤷
BYU stands for "Brigham Young University" one of the "founding fathers" of Mormonism, so I mean, its definitely a Mormon church funded show, but I'm glad it doesn't expose their ideals directly.
Your videos are like a ray of sunshine in the gray of everyday life, which penetrates the heart and lifts the mood. Thank you for your cheerful creativity!♀️🥥🚛
Saber just don't know about existence of russian cartoon "The adventures of Peter and Wolf". This cartoon often called "russian "Rick and Morty": youtube.com/@petyaivolk?si=BNYljZkhyZWQvCDI
He looks like Ford Pines in another universe
Object show pfp spotted :0
taco ii pfp
TACO
Dont you mean "daddy" ford pines
@jadentoontime I mean, you're not wrong
To be honest the animation styling looks like Cartoon Network’s.
The old man has some serious jk Simmons character energy
especially with the voice acting
The kid reminds me of yourfavoritemartian
Ford maybe but definetly not Omni Man
Ripoff Morty looks like ray william Johnson💀
I was thinking of Your Favorite Martian as soon as I stared at it.
That’s why I clicked on it. I thought it was YFM
That's what I was gonna say, dangit
He's even got the same skin color, literally the martian
Concept sounds pretty good at least.
Yeah I actually wanna watch it
Because a solid show is better than a boring show
That synopsis sounds like a self reflection cartoon instead of a strict Mormon rip off.
I like the idea of it. Because everyone has at one point said they want a time machine, but has realized they never get one, because we’ve never met our future selves before.
I’d say it’s more of a “rip off” of Back to the Future. Very heavy time travel themes, and a duo made out of an old guy and a young guy in red.
That's how Rick and Morty started.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember hearing that the creators of Rick and Morty were inspired by Back to the Future. Though obviously they did a better job at making it their own thing.
Ya, there is a huge thing where they hate doing time travel stuff, where this show has it as it's theme
If anything the story reminds me more of "Doraemon". Everyone knows what Doraemon is. You don't have to explain it
I didn’t knew the creator passed away
Rip
Also didn’t the creator also made really messed up stories with that kid friendly art style
@@whitetomatoI don't know
I watched some episodes. They were pretty entertaining

Feels more a futuristic Christmas Carol
I’m forever disappointed that this series wasn’t done in a slightly different way. The concept is SO good and rlly intriguing to me, but the way it was executed leaves something to be desired. I wish I could have been on the writing team or something
What would you have changed?

"Rip off" by coincidence is almost as bad as "rip off" in general 💀
Is it really, how so 🤔?
The one in the red shirt reminds me of the character from the Ray William Johnson music videos
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks fake morty looks like Puff Puff from Yfm
The premise is interesting and there is a lot you could do with it. Though it probably should be for a movie rather than a show.
Honestly for a Mormon cartoon it actually seems alright
Is that fucking Ray William Johnson’s Your Favourite Martian sona?
An animated version of Jeff Goldblum.
I like to call it the original "Hailey's on it".
GRILLED MORMONS! Gotta game the algorithm.
Ironically, I think this show might be better than Rick and Morty after season 2
To be fair, the idea of a crazy old scientist with a teenage boy sidekick came from Back to the Future, so if this is a rip-off just for that, then so is Rick and Morty. The premise seems interesting even though Doraemon did it first.
I do remember seeing a trailer for this and it seems interesting enough for me to want to watch it
It looks like a decent cartoon that could have held its own but I think BYU TV could be holding it back. I don't think it's primarily Mormon and that's okay too.
Tbh this concept sounds really cool!!
the idea is super cool but the show is super not
actually that might just be because i’m not 7 years old
I like the concept, I don't really like the execution
Rick and Mormy
Thank god this disappeared finally from my recommended I swear at one point this was all I saw in the ad thing
And concedering the amount of God Awful shows that you've seen it is a win
The animation looks good and I might give it a shot
YFM from walmart
Im not religous but i agree just cuz something has support by a religion doesnt mean its bad
Sakamoto turned into his all might form
Genuinely, this is a pretty good idea for a kids show
Just from this short alone, the style is more than passable!
It looks kind of nice tbh!
So was it a project by BYU students?
South Park did an episode around this theme.
Rick and Morty if it was for kids i Guess..?
Rick and Morty X Gravity Falls
This thing could have been so good if they made the main character someone who’s done some terrible shit and holds mountains of regret and emotional trauma for actions he can’t take back. Make him go back in time to prevent himself from becoming that person and boom you’ve got a banger cartoon if written well.
Richard Pines
(Rick Sanchez + Stanford Pines)
Rick and morman
Wait. I think I've seen ads for this show on UA-cam before
Honestly the concept sounds really cool and better than Rick and Morty’s🤷♂️
Not the best, but it alright. It is definitely better than what comes from the Asylum, and definitely better than "yee".
This cartoon shows the exact same thing I would do if I ever have a time machine.
Ngl
I might watch this because the idea is so cool
A time traveler trying to make himself a better person in the past
As a guy whos seen a lot of mormon media over the years its usually way higher quality than most evangelical media. They seem to understand that you need to be more entertaining and less preachy. Also they usually have higher budgets
Forget everything else. That place at the start is totally eventide island from breath of the wild, and no one will convince me otherwise.
The Chinese knockoff Morty looks like Puff-Puff
Saying BYU TV has "some" Mormon backing is like saying Battlefield Earth has "some" scientology influence
when the saints go marching
I kinda like the premise of this show
I mean, the premise sounds interesting.
You ruined my life. I don't know, a 1/5? Come on. 😒
The animation is actually not bad
saber... BYU is one of the biggest mormon universities in the world
I'm not particularly religious at all but I respect the effort. The animation isn't bad

*Seems like it…* 🙃
Honestly, not bad, not bad...
It looks pretty charming! :D
I mean say what you want but the concept is pretty good and interesting
It was a good ripoff not a bad one like ripoff movies
My favorite martian?
What's the name?
What dose the old man sound like Andrew Tate
Saber just don't know about existence of russian cartoon "The adventures of Peter and Wolf". This cartoon often called "russian "Rick and Morty":
youtube.com/@petyaivolk?si=BNYljZkhyZWQvCDI
Yeah but the old guy is hotter than Rick Sanchez
byu tv is extremely mormon, actually
Damn…
so it's not mormon, it's not a rick and morty ripoff and the quality is decent? what's wrong here?
Mick and borty
Never would I have seen the day that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints be used in a video by this person…
Could grow to be better than Rick and Morty if it stays away from the incest jokes.
no
Byu ain't that bad. Studio c is pretty good, was better but it's still good,
I would like to point out they dont like being called mormons, the prefer members of the church of jesus christ of later day saints.
Pão
Looks nice but The Church of Latter Day Saints is a miserable cult
Rick and morman
