each member represents a playing card and a suit that’s why you see symbols like a spade, a club, a heart, a diamond an ace etc.
BM is the king card and club(the clover that you saw on the coin), J.seph is the ace card and spade, Somin is the black joker and heart, and Jiwoo is the color joker and diamond(which is why she’s holding a diamond throughout the mv)
KARD has been active since 2016 often taking breaks from releasing new music to tour but it’s never anything too long until 2020 and when one of the members had to do his military service this is there first release since his return in April
They are most popular in latin america and often use spanish in their songs and have done full covers in spanish and portuguese
the mv is mostly just nice visuals nothing that needs to be analyzed too hard haha

I kind of expected a bit of a hard song for a Kard title track, but I'm really digging this. They did really well vibing together here. A slightly different direction is kind of expected (while still being a truly Kard song) since their company was recently acquired by RBW and the producers for this song I believe were all under RBW.
The guy with the crop top is BM. The other guy in the group is J.Seph, who is the one who recently got out of the military (hence the short haircut). Each member has a card associated with them. J.Seph is the ace, BM is the king, Somin is the black joker and Jiwoo is the red joker.
They have never been a huge group in Korea, but like Dreamcatcher and Loona, they have a good international fanbase and have toured around the world a fair bit. They have had releases every year, except for 2021 when they just had solo activities.

I think part of this song is just about enjoying yourself after the shit the world has been through. I know there was a covid 19 mention in the lyrics. I could be wrong though.
I'm going to keep my suggestions simple for them. The next song you should check out is Gunshot. It is the perfect song for you to dig into, both with the lyrics and the MV.

For this video I do think they gave each member a suit. Even from the comeback trailer, where each of their eyes had the symbol of a suit: Somin (long black hair) had the heart, Jiwoo (long bleached/colored hair) had the diamond, BM (crop top daddy 😏) the club and J. Seph (short bleached hair) the spade. Originally though, the name has the whole concept in itself, as each letter represents the "kards" that form the group. K is for the King card (BM), A is for the Ace (J. Seph), the R represents both the Color JokeR (Jiwoo) and the Black JokeR (Somin) and the D represents us, the fandom, the HiDden Kards.
Furthermore, the concept for this comeback (titled Re:) was all about going back to their roots (Re:Member, Re:Turn to the basics, Re:Born, Re:Trigger, Re:Debut) so this song (to me) feels like a mix of their pre-debut project, first post-debut releases and the style of their later comebacks before J. Seph left for the military (which is why they had a 2 year hiatus).
Ah, I saw the comment, yes indeed, their official debut song is called Hola Hola 😹, released after three pre-debut singles (Oh NaNa, Don't Recall & Rumor) which were highly successful overseas and built them a huge fan following, especially over here in Latin America, due to the Moonbathon/tropical house influence.
So if you want a bit of tropical house, try their earliest releases, I'd personally recommend Don't Recall cause it's my fave, but all of them are bops. If you want something a bit more hard hitting (with still a big latin influence), Bomb Bomb, Dumb Litty, Red Moon or Gunshot should do the trick.

it's the only one mix kpop group today . some groups try this concept but they didn't reach one year of career . K.A.R.D like DREAMCATCHER as an unusual concept and genre .they're not very successful and popular in korea . but like DC they got a western fandom they're very very popular in south america the're biggest fan base are in brazil , mexico , argentina they're also popular in latino country in europe . i like them not only because they're unique in kpop but also because they got really great songs . my top 3 OH NANA , HOLA HOLA ( a song for you DG) and GUNSHOT

*For me it's represents the before and after of them become a KARD member.*
- BM (King) had a really tough time as trainee and was almost giving up when he was told that he would debut as a KARD member. The lucky coin.
- Somin (Black Joker) debuted in some girlgroups (Purity and April) that had that girly/cute/pure concept but she didn't feel like she fit in and wanted to try a bolder concept. So she left April. Maybe that's why the comparation between the fishes and the red lipstick.
- Jiwoo (Color Joker) had the desire of being a singer but hesitated to chase that dream. A hidden Gem.
When she found the courage to go after it she was given the opportunity to become a KARD member. That's why Jiwoo is looking to the card in her hand, the moment when she was wondering whether or not to be part of a coed group.
- J.Seph (Ace) were shy and kind of hid his inner self. I think the shirt that says "Boys can cry", the part where he jumps and when opens the door, reveals that over the years he's learned to let go, also to be more open and to receive love (probably the kiss painting means that, but like the fans love and self love).
In the scenes they are together the scenarios are more
vibrant. They are happy and free, being themselves and receiving all the love of the fans. ❤️️
Please check: Oh NaNa (debut song 2016), Don't Recall, Dumb Litty, You In Me and Gunshot. They are amazing artists and they deserve more in Korea. Like the Dreamcatcher, the fanbase and international recognition is greater than in the country of origin. They are excellent dancers, singers, songwriters, visuals and very charismatic. They had a little hiatus as a group in the last 2 years because one of the members (J.Seph) was doing military service. But each member released their solo works in the meantime and worked on new songs.
Oh nana is not a debut song. Hola Hola is their debut, Oh Nana, Don't Recall and Rumor are Pre Debut Songs

As others have said, Kard is *incredibly* popular in Latin America, far more than in Korea, but while they're not very *popular* they are rather *known* as a co-ed group, and pretty much the standard of co-ed groups in K-pop. (That could be a bit of speculation on my part, but J.seph mentioned in his discharge v-live that his commander introduced him as a singer to another commander, and the other guy wanted to know what group he was part of and when J.seph answered 'well you probably haven't heard of us, we're a co-ed group' the guy is like 'wait... co-ed... 2 guys 2 girls?' - turns out dude has like 4-5 Kard songs on his phone. So they may not be popular, but people have definitely heard of them, same way that people have heard of Dreamcatcher as 'the rock K-pop girl group' even if they aren't super popular.)
BM (the crop top) is... lmao yeah. This boy has *zero* filter on him and he's from LA. (He's the initiator of the 'Big Tiddie Committee' that's guys with... large pecs that they work out, and has described Jiwoo as having 'big dick energy' on a live, and yeah his lyrics lmao. He also tends to add in bits of Spanish into the lyrics he writes - see: from LA - and a lot of Kard's songs have massive Latin influences in them (Red Moon, Bomb Bomb, Hola Hola, Oh NaNa) but they also have some serious banger tracks (Dumb Litty, Gunshot - which you will have fun breaking down) and some more chill tracks (Don't Recall, You in Me)

KARD are INSANELY popular here in latin america, they even had tours and concerts here before even officially debuting due to how popular they are over here. But sadly, KARD are not that well know in Korea. And after their 2 year hiatus, with this comeback they of course still follow their latin influence in their music but hope they now can reach Koreans and more people around the globe with their music, I wish nothing but the best for them ❤I've seen them twice live and it was one of the most awesome experiences I've had in K-pop concerts as a whole. Their vibe is just completely different from any K-pop group out there both in their music and in the fact they are co-ed. I'm in love.

The buzzcut rapper--J Seph--just got back from military service. That was the reason for the group's hiatus. They knew he would have to serve when they put the group together, but it was still a hardship. The different members stayed active, doing solo projects, but this reunion was long-awaited.
IDk how much there is to read into this vid in particular, but there's plenty to unpack in their MVs "You in Me" and "Gunshot". Do recommend those if you wanna see more of their stuff and enjoy a dark storyline. (They've got range. They do summer bops like "Oh Nana", clubbing hits like "Bomb Bomb" and "Dumb Litty", as well as the darker dives.)
Thank you for reacting to them. I was so anxious for this comeback. This is a song similar to how they started, more tropical and to dance, which made them huge here in South America. I'm so happy to see them together again,J Seph just ended his military service. I missed them so much.

you should definitely check out their its live performance for this song! (any of their its live's actually). for me, kard are a group that really thrive live - their chemistry with each other and the audience really shines through. i always think back to the fact that they had a "world tour" back when they had like 4 songs out ???? and they just went around a lot of european and latin countries performing covers and having fun with the fans. it was really a testament to their charisma imo
if possible, please post a reaction for it! but either way, you should definitely check some of their stuff. i particularly like the its live performance for oh nana, and the official dance practice for dumb litty. love ur videos, have a good one
I love Kard. And what a perfect comeback song this was for them.
It's kinda sad that there aren't more groups like them. Just like you said at the end, the way their voices interact and harmonise is just amazing. It's that balance between male and female vocals that you can't really get from a pure girl group or boy group.
There have been some attemps at more co-ed groups but nothing on the scale of Kard. Checkmate disbanded after one comeback because their company was incompetent and Triple Seven was just a one time collaboration between 3YE and B.I.G.
Kard actually had pretty consistent releases from 2016 to 2020. They just had a two year break because Jseph had to complete his military service. BM is American, so he doesn't have to serve in the Korean military. He had some solo releases in the meantime.
Btw, BM stands for Big Matthew. I would personally also argue that it stands for Buff Motherfucker but that's probably not my call to make :D
If you ever want to check out his appearances on Eric Nam's podcast (not asking for a reaction, just a recommendation for your own time) you'll find that he's the most humble and genuine but also fucking hilarious dude. Self declared leader of the Big Tiddie Comittee!

in one interview KARD mentioned their music influence was from Moombahton, a modern style reggae genre, which made them huge success in the latin american countries, i think they are making this comeback to re-debut themselves in Korea to wow the Kpop world with their own charisma

I think i got the part with the phrase "Day without you, night without yo". In spanish, "yo" means "me", so the phrase can translate as " Day without you, night without me" (the pronunciation of "yo" its really similar to you, so i think there is the wordplay).
They only had 1 break because j.seph the ace in 2020 went to the military they had a lot of song releases before that

I love & adore KARD & this comeback, but I don’t think this was the most deep of deep MVs. Which is fine. It was beautiful & they’re amazing & truly a unique group.
But if you want a MV with more a more Reaction focus that has more to unpack, I’d say “Dumb Litty” for the visuals especially, “Gunshot” for darkness & depth, & “Bomb Bomb” because it’s awesome. They don’t really have a bad video or song.
I love how unique all their voices are, & yet how well work together. It’s also that wild they’re the only (current / that I know or have heard) K idol group.

I love Kard, but I'm not feeling the song. I prefer their harder or darker songs like Bomb, Dumb Kitty, and Gunshot. This seems more reminiscent of their earlier or other songs, which isn't a bad thing in general, it's just not my thing.

I really respect all their talent and persistence in being a mixed group, which is hard in Kpop.
