  • @snerdterguson

    Notre Dame was basically playing an entire second string defense for the 4th quarter and still dominated the Georgia
    O-Line. Also, while they say their starting QB being out was why they lost, they fail to mention that Stockton (more evasive and more accurate) was the better option against the ND defense (Great font 7 and an elite defense full of ball hawks) than Beck (over one INT thrown per game). In fact, Stockton was the highlight in a game of lowlights for Georgia.
    Then they blame the refs letting Notre Dame getting away with the 11 man substitution, which is funny because the substitution was 100% legal.
    Then all the people who picked Georgia to, not just win, but dominate, suddenly after the game are telling about how Georgia was always a flawed team.
    The coach says "we SPOTTED Notre Dame 14 points" when those 14 points came off of a strip sack that every QB that ever laced them up would have fumbled and a return that had one broken tackle and a ton of great blocking.
    So if they aren't making excuses, they are trying to diminish Notre Dame like they just tripped and accidentally scored.
    The reality is Notre Dame proved they were the better team. The defense was utterly dominant, they won on special teams and Freeman was the best coach at the stadium.
    But hey, it isn't all bad for the SEC. They teams are all still undefeated in hypothetical games.

    It's SEC chutes and ladders. They get ranked all the way through the top 25. They play each other, win/lose and up and down the rankings they go, but rarely out of the top 25. Its a numbers game.
    Also don't forget what Saban several years ago after Alabama got crushed by Oklahoma in a bowl game. Paraphrasing but he said motivation wasn't there because they're used to play ing for championships.
    And as far as FSU last year. They won two games, the regular season finale against Florida with their 2nd string qb and the following the week in the ACC championship with a 3rd string freshmen who never even played that year and practice half the year because of an injury.

    SEC has gotten exposed. Alabama got builied and bitched by Michigan, South Carolina lost to Illinois, Kirby Smart and Georgia got outcoached and outclassed by Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame, Tennessee got steamed rolled by Ohio State, Texas almost choked and looked like they were trying to give Arizona State that win. I hate to say it, but Ole Miss is the only SEC team that proved that they should be in the playoffs by dominating in their bowl game. Yeah, Texas is the only SEC team left in the playoffs, but I'm telling you right now, no disrespect to Arizona State. I like Arizona State and they are a good team but they are not on the same level as Ohio State. All I have to say about Texas, if you think struggling against Arizona State is one thing and almost choking the game away, y'al are in a rude awakening when y'all play Ohio State. Ohio State is a scary team in these playoffs. The NIL and transfer protal has changed college football for the better. Now other teams are now able to get 4 and 5 star recruits on their now. My main issue with the SEC is that they have built-in advantages that neither they, nor the NCAA acknowledge. 95 percent of post season games, both bowl and playoff, have been played in SEC territory. The traditional Big 10 teams have never played a post season game in their territory until this year. Homefield advantage matters, Tennessee found that out. I know for certain that the 6 point spread between Texas and Ohio State is only that small because the game is a home game for Texas. As a UGA fan a loss is a loss we just weren’t the better team that night and that’s all it was. We try again next year. Kirby recognizes we need some roster change ups and he’s working on it. I would like to say that is Ga fans aren’t as delusional as say the Alabama fans. It’s all a mindset and how the players do in game. Sometimes they may be locked in sometimes they might not. Or just having that drive to simply not get beat and make adjustments on your matchup as Ohio state has shown is what can happen when as a player with that drive being locked in on your assignments and the little things can make a world of a diffidence and some the kids we got now simply do not fit that bill.

    The first round of the playoff needs to be the week after conference championships. That way, conference champions get a bye week, not three and a half weeks off.
    Targeting should require a player to target the head or neck. Too many people are saying any contact with the head or neck is targeting. To target requires intent. It's right in the definition of the word. How many times has targeting been called when a ball carrier lowers his head as the defender is lowering his, resulting in helmet-to-helmet contact? How is that on the defensive player?

    They're talking about not giving a bye to conference champions because that was their plan. It's about money and getting as many of the big brands in and as far as possible. They will and did use any excuse to "improve" college football and get a 12 team playoff. Once they had that they can justify any change.
    The CFP 12-team playoff motto is "turning losers into pseudo winners". Just look at the 4 teams left: Ohio State lost 2 games, 1 at home to a 21.5 point underdog with 5 losses; ND lost a home game to a MAC school as a 28 point favorite; Texas lost twice (once in a conference championship); Penn State lost twice (once in a conference championship). None of these teams won their conference or play in a conference. None of them would've sniffed a title in the pre-BCS or BCS era and deservedly so.
    They want the NFL model without the parity and home field advantage, because that will get them what they want....money. If conference champions hosted their match-ups the results would've likely been different. But they're not going to talk about that.
    Oregon was the only undefeated team and had to re-defeat OSU, this time on a neutral field, after OSU was given a home game following an embarrassing loss to Michigan. You can't make this stuff up. Too many useful idiots.

    • @therldrewduncan
      @therldrewduncan  4 дні тому

      I don't take issue with most of this. We can actually go a step further. If they take away the possibility of a conference champion getting a by, how long before the conference champion doesn't matter? The rankings already don't matter. Bama was left out in favor of Clemson though, they were ranked ahead of them. I still like the expanded playoffs. Teams shouldn't have to be forced to go undefeated to be a champion. I actually discuss a lot of this here ua-cam.com/video/ngTVq1CdghA/v-deo.html
      Thanks for listening and for taking time to write your thoughts! 👊🏼

    • @jaymoret7418
      @jaymoret7418 4 дні тому

      @@therldrewduncan No problem. While I understand why some might like the expanded playoffs, it's hard in my opinion to hold that position and still want conference championships to matter.
      Also, I think it's fine to not believe a team has to go undefeated to be a champion...but I don't want to hear any comparisons to previous undefeated champions of any era. I don't see that much difference between allowing for losses and weakening conference championships/champions. All undefeated teams by definition are conference champions....unless they were independent. Being a champion to me means being one at all levels (winning your division when it existed, your conference if you're in one and the national championship). So I put asterisks by all defeated or non-division/conference winning national "champions". They're pseudo-champs...winning sometimes 1 of 3 eligible titles because of pity, money and/or ideology.

    Shocking but you can be from the best conference, not not be the best team. It's happened, sure with teams from other conferences other than the SEC, but that has been the vast minority of years dating back for 25 plus years. Count up the national titles. Your telling me the 4th best team in the Big10 would beat the 4th best in the SEC? lol. No but NIL and the portal are improving most every team except the teams that had been getting the lions share of the top blue chips, Bama and UGA. OSU has gotten their share too so now it comes down to actual coaching and you can't lean on depth as much. The SEC is just harder to go out on the road and win. Most of your drafts and recruits are from the SE part of the US. We see the same SEC dominance in baseball, basketball etc vs any one specific conference. The worst SEC team, Mississippi State still hung 31 on UGA's defense in Athens in 24. Vandy beat Bama who still has massive depth. We don't see that in other conferences. But sure, they can spin a loss for the SEC. That's business because those teams like UGA has made them money for years, same with Bama. But they only do that for those teams. Did you see them spin any losses for TN? lol. How about anyone else not named UGA and used to be Bama. Until teams from other conferences start beating the best SEC teams and I mean more than one year out of like 8 or 10, well... They will only spin for teams that have won something lately. Has OSU won a title since what, 11 years ago? Has Clemson? One SEC coach amounted to 8 natties of 17 years, that's alot, than throw in a team that had two in a row in the last 4 years, UGA. Dominate and the media will spin for those teams too when they first start losing after years, and more recently of dominating. Been watching ball for over 45 years and this has always gone on when you've won a lot and recently and finally lose.
