I liked hearing Eccleston talking about wanting children to take him into their heart because I was that 8 year old boy. I remember sitting down and watching the first episode as it aired and being so mesmerised by it. I remember being too scared to sleep after the Unquiet Dead episode. He is my Doctor.
I hadn't seen that Eccleston interview before - just watching it gave me a greater appreciation for the man! And although I didn't see all his run at first, and returned to Who for Tennant, I can say, as an original Tom Baker fan, that Chris did a phenomenal job and really grew on me, so he needn't have worried 😊
Honestly, I think it's wise to let the ladies react to season 11 unspoiled and then it would be fair to make honest critiques. Everyone loves something different.
Tim Bernard. I agree totally. That's why I said nothing about Series 11 other than the fact it was not the same Production Team. I should say I liked and enjoyed series 11.
watching this knowing that i was that 12 year old that still loves and adores christopher as my first doctor is so incredibly heart warming i don't even know how to describe it
I’m 27 now, I was 10 years old when “Rose” aired in 2005 on bbc1, and you bet you bottom dollar I was always watching. This series was my first experience with doctor who and I’ve been hooked ever since. Eccleston will always be My Doctor.
I'm guessing you guys have no idea about Mark Gatiss' previous incarnation as one of the writers/actors in The League of Gentlemen, he was far more known for that than anything else in the UK. Very funny comedy if you get a chance to watch it.
Something that I think might be informative - when Paula asked whether Russell T. Davies wrote 8 episodes - the answer is, of course, yes - but it's also worth knowing that he had final re-write on every episode, so even the stories without his name on are heavily influenced by him. The most extreme example of this is The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit which although originally written by Matt Jones was almost ENTIRELY redone by RTD - the man is a legend and a genius!
@NowhereMan2710 This might be a complete conicidence, but you didn't happen to use a forum called the Abandonned Hat back when these were first being broadcast? Same username as someone I remember if not! I think I went by TestOfInsanity back then...
Gatiss and Cornell were in their early mid -twenties when their respective first Doctor Who novels, NIGHTSHADE and TIMEWYRM: REVELATION, were published. They're out of print now, but it you can manage to stumble upon them in a used bookshop, they might be worth looking into.
I don't know if you know, but Simon Callow is a Dickens expert, who has played him many times, on stage and screen, and also written a biography of him. That they got him on Dr Who was a big coup for the programme and strongly contributed to the success of that episode.
@@dancrocker9318 It's called "Who's At Wansford". It's been hosted by 15th Cyber Legion, a charity group that make Cybermen costumes. The event is ideal if you like Doctor Who and vintage trains.
That's cool you work in SFX Paula! Makes me wonder if you created the electricity lower third around the picture in picture =] Or even the TV TARDIS intro!
Im still a bit confused what is this vid again? Or at least which special? Btw if u like Collin Firth, watch Kingsmen. Totally against typ but he is a badass in that movie.
You can’t find the Christmas special runaway bride? As far as sexism...dang watch the first doctor and Barbara....she was not a sexist character! That came later and was not the case with all of them. Sarah Jane was not helpless, Barbara was not helpless, Liz was not helpless....Christopher obviously did not watch the original series
Don't worry, we have Runaway Bride! Kyle was referring to The Christmas Invasion, which we lost and then did a recap for. I think Runaway Bride will get posted next week :)

The Great thing about the beginning of New Who was ALL the Production Crew were Whovians. They put their hearts and Souls into every Episode.
If only it was still like that...
Things changed in Series 11.
@@Jamienomore and they made it equally amazing.

Eccleston need not worry. I started with Tom Baker, and John Pertwee, and I suspect like most, I loved him from his first moment on screen.
A very pleasant surprise. Thx ladies ...

So long ago now. You're right, people should always respect the first series, it laid the groundwork for amazing things to come.
7:30 Well, I started Who with old reruns of Doctor 4 to 7 on PBS as a kid sooooo lol , 9 was not my first Doctor but I loved him so much!
Katrina and I were both like, "He's so YOUNG!!!" over and over. :)
lol paula's "I love colin firth" at 1:48 is extremely relatable ;)

Hooray for bonus reactions!!!!! 💕💕💕 " he's so cute" You're the experts😊
That’s neat, you don’t see reactions to special features that often. Good job!
I can't wait for you reaction to Season 3 :D (Sorry for my bad english. I m still learning)
your english was perfect don't worry :)

4:48 me every time Mark Gatiss does anything
I'd like to tell you I was there at the beginning but I was only a month old when it started back in '63.
I was five months old and in California in November 1963.

yay bonus from the Galli Girls happy days
Interesting to see and understand, more, how and why you appreciate this kind of video.
Anyone from the UK? Because tomorrow there's gonna be a Doctor Who event at Wansford station, part of the Nene Valley Railway. Anyone going to it?
I am ...but.unfortunately I am working.tomorrow 😒
Oh hey what kind of event is it?? I've not heardd
@@dancrocker9318 It's called "Who's At Wansford". It's been hosted by 15th Cyber Legion, a charity group that make Cybermen costumes. The event is ideal if you like Doctor Who and vintage trains.
Thank you@@MarkSW! I've never heard of that charity but that's incredible
I was 8 when the 2005 doctor started, and he was my first doctor ❤️😭
1:48 you love Colin Firth? Who doesn't?! He just is a very loveable person.
Did you guys do the special feature for Series 2?
Those who started with 10 instead of 9 (my favourite doctor) are not true whovians in my eyes! 😂😂
jack bassindale I started with 3, I can only apologise for not being a true whovian lol
graham richmond sorry, I edited my comment so it didn’t sound like I was insulting every classic who fan 😂
jack bassindale I wasn’t insulted lol. You still ignored classic who with your edit though 😜
As the Doctor once said: "I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS!!!"
(edit: but I did enjoy it :D)
I started in 1982 with 4th Doctor...Classically Trained Fan
That's cool you work in SFX Paula! Makes me wonder if you created the electricity lower third around the picture in picture =] Or even the TV TARDIS intro!
I did not--Kyle, who runs the Fan Theory channel is responsible for all of that!
Paula Deming thats cool was just curious :) what kind of work do you do in sfx?
@@markmckeown87 I've done a variety of things, including work as an artist, a show coordinator, and a recruiter. Mostly in television.
Paula Deming very cool! Thanks for replying :)
Have you watched The League of Gentlemen ?
Fun fact. Georgia Tennant almost was cast for Rose.
eccleston is actually my favorite him and tennant are tied...
I think Mark still looks young to me. Mark's my age, and I'm not old. I'm 47. :)
Ha... not gonna lie was really hoping this was going to be An Unearthly Child or something Classic Who based.
Looks like we’re going to have to do just that in the future!
And I don’t mean that to come out as negative as it sounds! Lol. Just love seeing people see that for the first time.
FAN THEORY TV whoop whoop!
Mark Ward It’s all good! You didn’t come across as negative in the slightest. I actually appreciate the feedback and the great comment! 👍🏻😃
Moffat is a FAR better episode writer than a show runner
I didn't start with Christopher Eccleston, I started with Sylvester McCoy. I was 25 when Eccleston took the role.
Im still a bit confused what is this vid again? Or at least which special? Btw if u like Collin Firth, watch Kingsmen. Totally against typ but he is a badass in that movie.
It's not any one special. It's all of Season 1's Special Features.

He certainly never saw Leela or Romana either!

Unfortunately Tennant took over and turned the Doctor into a spoiled brat and Rose into a lovesick teen.
