There's a His Dark Materials TV series episode "The Fight to the Death" where Iofur Raknison and Iorek Byrnisson fight over to become king without wearing their armors, and in this TV series episode, Iorek defeats Iofur off-screen behind Lyra, so it wasn't to horror for viewers.
This was why Iofur's demise was shown off-screen, because it was to scary and to gory for young adults or children, otherwise it can give them nightmares.
