This is the first major release of the Casual version of the documents, and the third version of the Speedrun documents. Any feedback on the guide materials is greatly appreciated, as it will help me to further improve the materials and make everything as clear and accessible as possible for people. Comments on this video or on our Discord are the best ways to reach out with ideas/feedback: discord.gg/eudsps7 Thanks everyone!
This is awesome, big respect for putting all of these materials together I can only imagine the dedication you'd need to not only make such well designed notes for personal use, but also making an entire separate version for casual use is going above and beyond. ♥
holy shit this is awesome. typing this while on level 82 athletics skill, swimming into a wall for the last 2.5 days lmao thank you and you got me back into the game after years
back in 2006 I used to write on the map marking all the points of interest I enjoyed. I would drop varla stones at places to signify I had been there before, like on the tops of mountains, or at the bottom of a mountain lake. It was so cool to just be playing regularly and just run into a varla stone, when I didnt even recognize the area I was in years later. Matter of fact, I need to boot that up and extract that save file from the hard drive and give it a spin again. youre doing amazing work thanks for this all seriously
I mean, I fail to even try to understand how life works at this point. My thoughts before knowing about this channel: - Gee, I am really into 100% completions! - Gee, I am really into speedruns! - Gee, Oblivion is definitely my favorite game of all time! - Gee, I am really into nerdy sh1t and highly detailed content! And then I learned about PRCLive. And it was such a joy to watch these vids! You, guys, deserve a lot more exposure and credit than you get. Extremely looking forward to the V3 run. Hope I'll be able to watch most of it live. I'd probably hung out with you over on Discord too if I had time for it. Keep this thing rolling, guys, and good luck during the run!
thank you so much! I am passionated about Oblivion to and when i discovered all your work I had the very egoistic impression that you did it just for my birthday gift ;)
I am definitely doing at least a casual 100% run using your guides, and I'll probably play along whilst watching the v3 run 😀 Thanks for all of your hard work on this!
Thank you for the casual guide. Since your first attempt I have been trying to 100% the 360 version casually. Now with the proper docs this will be much easier.
Just took a look at the materials and frankly, absolutely amazing! PRC you've gone above and beyond anything anyone would expect. Thank you thank you thank you!
I’d love to see you play the game legitimately. Not saying I don’t love what you do, it’s so awesome, but it would be fun to watch someone with so much knowledge play without any exploits or glitches. Just like a regular let’s play
I have a weird question about npcs. As you stated in this video, npc ai is wierd and janky sometimes, but has anyone ever tried to compile all npc movements throughout the day? Like the path that each one of them follows every day, because it's not always the same every day and at the same time it can't be random, it has to loop at a certain point, like every week for example. I do remember during the second speedrun atrempt that an npc just wasn't there at the time it was stated in the guide and made an annoying time loss. I'm geniuinely curious if studying some important npcs daily path would shave off important time...
UESP has done essentially that. Though it doesn't usually specify exactly the *route* each npc takes, it does say exactly where they go, what they do, and when they go there on a day to day basis.
Alec is correct, for example here is the UESP page on Shum gro-Yarug mentioned in the video: en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Shum_gro-Yarug The UESP is not always correct (I've had to correct a handful of their pages, particularly relating to max accomplishment values, the map locations, etc.) but overall the vast majority of the info is really thorough.
It's crazy that to this day Oblivion is still alive and the beautiful people that play it share their experiences or tips. I use to be a cheating bastard giving myself overpowered with console commands, which takes a lot of fun out of the game. Now, watching your guides, I farmed all the skills and felt really proud
We are going to be minimizing out attribute gain so that we can buy training for skills as much as possible. This was a late revision so it isn't absolutely perfect leveling but we get to around 170+ and will get 190+ in the V4 route revision to save even more time on the skill grind.
Wait, travelling salesman algorithm? What's that? Travelling salesman is a problem, not an algorithm, and as far as I know, the only solution is to go through all the paths, with some minor optimizations to make it quicker on average, but still factorial in the worst case. What are you referring to here?
That reminds me, I had to make a separate PDF using CMYK color for the physical print, which I can will add to the public folder when I have time. If I had to guess, there are a lot of copyright issues with selling it since it heavily uses Bethesda's assets. Also with each speedrun revision, it gets slightly updated so people would technically have to repurchase it which would not be super great. If you want, I can send links to the things I purchased on amazon to put it together.
@@PRCLive Absolutely! If you boys would like to put a folder in the doc for links/instructions of putting our own together. I'd be all for it, I know I'm not the only one interested. It's a fun dumb little thing for a fun run.
It would take a while to implement but I'll probably get around to doing 100% + DLC eventually, but it will be it's own separate category for sure. For example, there is an infinitely respawning Nirnroot in Deepscorn Hollow DLC so Nirnroot would not be required for that category. I'm planning on tackling all the DLC as an isolated category to get more familiar with the routing potential of it in a 100% context in the meantime.

It's very, very cool that you're letting anyone use this, considering how much work you've put in.
Can’t wait to watch the speedrun

Thanks so much for making this! I've been trying to 100% for ages, this is gonna be huge.

Wow. That is dedication to a goal. Just finished playing thru again. Can't say I will ever go for 100% completion but I am impressed by the effort.

Thank god you aren't doing the dlcs. That museum of oddities would've been a pain in the ass.
Thanks! There are many of us who appreciate the hard work being put into this!
This is the first ever speedrun I am dying to See. Looking forward

New subscriber, saw you mentioned on Dayoman's channel & knew this would be right up my street 😁
Thanks for pointing that out! Just checked out his channel and the speedrun news series is a really cool idea.

nice video. where's the link to part 2?
The travelling salesman algorithm is my favorite part
Shame you have so little subs since you make such goood content
Good luck on the run, looking forward to it!
Are you guys using perfect levelling?

i like the mazda rx7
Nice
holy cow
Please fix the captions, they're helpful for non-english speakers
Would you ever consider selling a real physical Ninroute pocket handbook? Sure we could print one ourselves but it's just not the same.
That reminds me, I had to make a separate PDF using CMYK color for the physical print, which I can will add to the public folder when I have time.

Hello from Russia! Question: would you like to speedrun 100% of Goty version (with all DLCs and stuff)? It would be awesome!

why did i want to do this lol.
