    *NOTE* I mistakenly referred to drawings in this book as the layout stage - they are actually the genga stage. This stage comes after the layout stage. Both layout and genga make up the key animation stage.
    Thank you YenYen and FuyuSeth for your feedback.
    Please note there are many different drawings in this book, some are a lot rougher than others. It is possible that some of these are at the layout stage.
    We've corrected this in our latest Demon Slayer unboxing video.

    Goes to show theres alot of work put in. ❤ Theres alot of scenes that have intense motion, like the Hanami vs Yuji Todo was 👌 When Yuji kicks the rock in two kicks iirc comes to mind, the clapping followed by punches.

    0:40 no that's genga, also known as 2nd key.
    layout is the 1st key and much more rough.
    what exactly you mean is the KeyAnimation Stage which consists of 1st key (Layout) and 2nd key (Genga).
    between 1st and 2nd key is a directors check, where animation, art, episode director etc will take a look and draw corrections. In 2nd key the corrections then are applied and those are the cels that you are actually looking at.
    also anime is drawn at 24 fps, it's just through a variation of timing you can differentiate and change the feeling of the invidual cuts.
    Please research more deeply into the subject before spreading missinformation and confusion.

    i think you got something mixed here. As far as I know the current standard is 24fps. what you probably mean is that they don't animate on ones (there are some exceptions of course) but full animation is a luxury, because it takes double the amount of drawings and at least double the amount of time. Disney productions on the other hand will have way more fully animated cuts and tend to only be animated on 1s and 2s (1s meaning 24 frames a second will have 24 different drawings) While anime will usually be on 2s , 3s or even more.
    keep in mind that no matter if the anime is on 1s or on 2s (or more) the animation will still be played back at 24 fps as a standard.
    although you could technically animate on 1s and play it back at 12fps and achieve the same image as you would animating on 2s and play it back at 24fps.

      Hi Thammi! Thanks for clarifying and apologies for my confusing explanation lol.
      I'm pretty sure Akira is one of the few anime examples where most of the film is animated entirely at 24fps - but I'll need to confirm this.

      @@worldtree.studio its not, idk why they keep saying that. its animated mostly on 2s

    • @akiani
      @akiani Рік тому

      disney movies are probably more of what you see that's fully 24 fps, you can def tell the difference when u put akira and a 2d disney film side by side.

    I'm sorry, the examples you showed are not Layouts, they are called "Genga (原画)" or "Original Drawings/Pictures"
    not Layout. Gengas are the tiedowns and corrected stage of the Layout.

    What program are these animations made with?

    • @worldtree.studio
      @worldtree.studio  Рік тому +3

      I can't confirm exactly what Studio MAPPA uses, but it's possible they use programs such as Stylos HD from the RETAS Studio Suite for compiling each drawn frame. They possibly use Maya for any CGI (3D) compositing and Houdini for effects. But this is just based on my own assumptions and research - I can't confirm.
