South Africa has a wealth of voices. This is only a drop in the ocean. There is a rich choral culture in the country. It helps with young singers' development. Funding remains the biggest challenge for these people. Perhaps if European opera houses held auditions in the country, a cheaper way for SA singers to get exposure, you would see much more of this in leading opera houses.
@@HipJipC the media can be very misleading.... miss Mpofu is a trained singer who is not self taught... South Africa has a great tradition of Choral music which is where exposure to opera starts and the gap between high school choir and college is the time where one teaches oneself but never in any way to a point where one is gonna jump into a career after that.... after high school... these kids do go to music schools and get formal training... there are about 6 conservatories in south africa that are very competent and everyone of the singers singing internationally are from one of these schools.... none of that BBC self trained stuff.
We have a proud tradition of singing in SA & a number of wonderful singers on the world stage. Pretty Yende is probably the most famous internationally. Then there’s Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha, currently training at Covent Garden. We have excellent conservatoires & teachers who were famous opera singers in their day. Mimi Coertze in Vienna & Emma Renzi at La Scala spring to mind.
@@vincec8218 there is nothing gorgeous about this ladies voice. It’s the singing of a beginner student. Technically unready, intonation all over the place and a musicality that can only be described as “wooden” at the best of times. Perhaps with much time and approach training she can develop into something quite nice, but that is true of virtually everyone.
I am in agreement with you about that novice, Kasandra. Vince is so tacky to go to all channels where REAL singers are being high-lighted to introduce someone who is barely talented.
What beautiful beautiful voice only just seen her on you tube absolutely awesome
what a wonderful voice - I am very happy for South Africa to have such a wealth of young talents
A very gorgeous and vocally talented lady indeed.
Bravissima davvero eccezionale!!!
Thanks for uploading. Yes, a most melodious and pure voice, accompanied by overall good taste in the interpretation
Beautiful tone colour as always. I remain her fan and proud of her.
Her Maria Stuarda was phenomenal....
This gives me a lot of hope!!
Ma che voce vellutata e meravigliosa. Una vera scoperta

Wow! Wow! Wow!
Beautiful voice and excellent technique. Hearing this soprano makes me wonder how South Africa manages to produce such well trained singers.
She produced herself by copying divas she watched on DVD. Pure, RAW talent that may have gone unnoticed had she not acquired the media and technology.

Gorgeous voice!!! ...but sung more like a mature, thoughtful Countess rather than a young girl overcome by love's emotion for the first time.
