I like that one rock drake who came in at full speed after the 180 find. It was clearly on a mission and very determined to stop Syntac from having that egg😄
@@lettherebedragons8885 the instalkill is only if they get the bug where they get stuck on you and hump your back. Even +20k HP Karkinos just die immediately to thousands of damage per second from each of the bounces. When they pass through you like in this video it just does a smackton of hurt. You can use this as a player to rip apart a Yi Ling or Spino by diving into one stuck on a wall.
I like that you showed how to get down there without a cosmo and always enjoy the more informational videos. If ASA is like ASE, anchoring ziplines down there was always a bit finicky and they'd stick to only certain parts of the terrain.

Honestly I find spinos much better than megalos for this. Big aoe difference, faster at killing the drakes despite being notably weaker but thanks to aoe, MUCH faster so it makes getting in and out much bare-able
Since Aberration first came out rock drakes have always been my favorite creature, although rhynio may have taken that spot since then. Either way, tock drakes are amazing and it's always amazing seeing egg stealing videos!
The Rock Drake glide attack is definitely their scariest and most hilarious move. On one hand, it can deal hundreds of thousands of damage if the rock drake never lands. On the other hand, "WEEEEEEEE!"
now the proper way without pay2win is : - spawn in - level - plant z seed with poop - tame ravager and bulbdog - tame a dung beetle in blue zone and give it poop - put the fertilizer in Z fruit pot - while the Z is growing, either progress to have haz mat suit (easier in pvp because you can just steal from any gas extractor), or log off and wait for Z fruit - tame a yi ling - you might have a full hazmat suit at this point, if not, find a lamprey in the blue zone waters (closest possible to spine) - now you have ten minutes of resistance to radiation, dive down the spine with your yi-ling - steal an egg - get out quick, rock drake dives will hurt but if your yi-ling isn't shit level, it should live -climb the spine with the yi-ling, until you can see the exit of the red zone, glide to it and finish by hopping with the yi-ling (sprinting in the air will make you lose altitude, but by the time you hit the ground your dash will be renewed) - if the egg is too low level, just repeat from the lamprey step
After all these years I still to this day have never tamed a rock drake and never tamed a reaper, actually haven't even spent much time in the red zone period now that I think about it. Aberration has always been my favorite map but it has always been so difficult to get in and out of that I hardly ever played on it. I am 100% going to do everything on aberration this time though, the charge nodes allowing transfer is practically a godsend
I'm new (ish) to Ark, 50 some days into my first Ab and I went hunting for eggs. Except i went down the far west red zone ramp🫣 After 3 reaper queens jumped me and sent my spino flying off the ledge, I found this! Thank you for showing the path!
Amazing luck! Great video and good editing. The pacing was spot on for the long trip down on foot. The small area shown in this video is really blue and washed out. The larger nesting area is much darker and yellow like in the previous game. But also much much harder to traverse. I do think the rockwell terminal area looks much nicer than it was in ASE, but it is a hard radiation area if you want to run Rockwell in Single Player or make a Tek Replicator at the terminal. The climbing pick bug is stupidly dangerous. The Drake areas don't have zip-line compatible surfaces making egg stealing treacherous without a Drake, Cosmo or Yi Ling. The pick bug has not just deleted my inventory but my actual character. In the Grotto on the way back from collecting an artifact of the shadow a blue pick 'landing' arc just sent my game to black with [You have Died]'. Then I got the make a new character screen. Not spawn at bed. I had to restore my entire Saved folder and lost hours of progress. This was after the last set of updates that was supposed to prevent that.
31:22 yeah the wall look more like there's a texture missing. Like in other games if a texture doesn't load a purple and black overlay is there instead.
Just so you know with the new trait system if you clone a dino it clones all the traits it has too, so that is one way to get more of the traits you want.
The climbing pick issue was supposedly fixed on 9/24 in the huge v53.1 patch which did a ton of other fixes and such. The notes claim that at least, but I myself cannot confirm or deny that. At least from the occasional climbing pick usage that I've done, there have been no issues. EDIT: Nevermind they're still broke; was climbing out of blue zone cave with the picks and got sent to the shadow realm. Good job WC.
Was climbing my walls with the picks to replace a structure on my base when my character got deleted. All my top tier items, my cryopod with my mutated and imprinted rock drake got deleted. 20 hours of work gone. All because i used an item in the game that helps me climb...
I remember my first time on aberration when it first came out. Had I known to follow the rings to a certain point I would find the path to the rock drake nests. However there weren't cryo pods back then so what I did was use 20 zip lines, 3 wing suits, 6 basic climbing picks. I died multiple times getting out with a level 40 egg which i accidentally ate, and yes later on I used the megalosaur on my 23rd attempt after doing research.
re: dinosaurs found in Ireland - the megaloceros, commonly misnamed a moose by north americans, was actually based on the ' irish elk' or 'giant deer' . According to wikipedia " Megaloceros giganteus was originally described in 1799 as Alce gigantea by Johann Friedrich Blumenbach based on specimens found in Ireland " This was confirmed verbally by the Wildcard model builder.

15:12 just started noticing everything was empty on the island map am playing on and now that im convinced im not the only one experiencing this means its becoming a big problem.
I would love to see how amazing their basses would look with the visual storage mod. It and dino depot are by far my favorite qol mods (and fav mods in general).
u dont need a climbing pick just a yi ling u cant get straight up n out with one and use it to jump nest to nest also i only have the same 3 nests on my single player they never move just get diff eggs
Trailing behind with progress but man as a first time player, that trip is a maze even watching the video prior. I got in so many fights and was so lost, man forget about it, lol. That’s definitely a one and done walking path; never again!

I know it’s a remaster of an older version, I even remember tinkering with it in my younger years, but at this stage at 40 I’m playing in my free time and my son loves dinosaurs so he’s getting exposed as well so keep talking to the new comers please!!
Climbing picks deleting your character happened in Evolved too...😢 I would not count on Wildcard to fix them. Also the Rockdrake dive bomb kills instantly. Something with the hitbox. Also the Gigantoraptor can hatch the Rockdrake egg without a 1000 ACs.
Speaking of getting pushed into the map, happened on ase when reapers trapped my drake into the mesh on official amd having to request a dev to help get it out or sometimes they just gave an egg instead.
Your megalo base stats are WAY better than mine i have had horrible luck in that regard, right click the folder to equip armor is awesome thank you for teaching me that. You CAN harvest the big blue trees but better is you can harvest the giant slimy looking red trees near the crystal lake, they are so awesome looking but so freaking huge. I put pictures in your Discord you could scroll back and see them and all the other plants that can be potted. The water plants and corals from the blue zone are so weird but so great. Especially the sea Anemones. The last saddle i made was 23,000 hide :P You get tons while arena leveling your pets, which good to know Basilisk babies are worth an obnoxious amount of XP.
Advice: if you really want to get eggs, abd guarantee yourselves good ones. Take a reaper king down there. Clears the trenches easily, and you don't need a particularly good reaper to do it. Its fast, has the hops, unbelievably durable with no saddles needed, and has plenty of power. Thanks to reapers, my first visit to the trench was a cakewalk. Then if you have cosmo, cryo the reaper and web your way out.
I just went down with my cosmo and haz suit to get my first eggs. Got 2 190 eggs. I’m raising 44hp 35stam 38 weight 40 Mel right now on official for boss fights
That drake you can't see is under the ground climbing on the floor, yeah the map mesh is REALY bad. You can't build anything down there near the nests. You went the wrong way because you absolutely CAN walk out of there i just watched Axe do it and i've done it on a ravager at least one time. Grats on the nice level starter and you got enough eggs you will get a male and female maybe twins or triplets which would be awesome. This opens up Extraordinary kibble and Basilisk taming for you and the Basi are worth it for no other reason than babies for leveling other pets.
2:38 you need to get a modded smithy. Kinda like the AA one where they have much larger storage Ik you like playing vanilla but I think at this stage in the series it’s not that broken tbf. Also you can always ban engrams you don’t want on the server can’t you??? So if there’s sum in there that you don’t want on the server for whatever reasons you could just ban the engrams I think
I`ve seen a video where the guy used an oviraptor to get the rockdrake eggs. You get into a nest and let the oviraptor steal the egg, then you take the egg from the oviraptor pick him up and go on to the next nest, rinse and repeat, without Rockdrakes agro to you for stealing the eggs. Ofc. they will agro when you get into agro range, but that is just normal. This way you can steal all the eggs you can carry without the Rockdrakes getting mad at you for stealing the eggs.
Just to share some personal experience, when i was down there i could use a zip line, at least at the spot i was in. And one time i was down there with my megalosaur and got swarmed by drakes, i got killed while mounted, but maybe thats normal? Idk.
I personally got my first rock drake egg on Asa on my 126 Karkinos and 162 megalosaurus I just jumped over all the rock drakes till I got to the eggs and grabbed one and ran
Just until they fix climbing picks, yall should consider adding the utilities plus mod. The reusable grapple on that mod works on Ab… just a thought. I know that’s not really your thing, as it’s pretty op and broken, but it’s a fair balance with Wild Card not being able to fix stuff… that’s no shade toward them too, I’m sure it’s a priority issue…
that's the name of the thing i was talking about last ep Tek replicater ( I barely believe I couldn't remember the name of it lol) to hold enough items to craft things that need massive amounts of mats . I was surprised that Dimorph's are on this map in the red zone and actually I don't remember ever seeing them on the map in the first place . I always get lost going down but mostly coming back up from the rockdrake trench a few time in ase died because of radiation and ran out of suits spent so much time lost lol finally updated my drivers was able to play this map yesterday with out issues of crashing just many issues with nameless popping up in placed they shouldn't be popping up in and the terminal thing sure makes life much easier in asa being able to upload download things from other maps in SP going to spend some time building things on previous maps and bring them over I doubt that I would do well starting from level one on this map I dont get the whole zip line thing because the dogs dont like radiation which would mean you would have to also use the motor to get up a zipline lol when I loaded into this map before usign the -dx11 in the properies I had my main character levcel 120 on the map, but it was erased when went to come back on the map after my driver update luckily I always alwasy save a backup of all my savegame files from all ARK . lol I tried to see if I could load my ASE character into ASA but nope I didnt think that it would work but I had to try, unfortunately the old save I used was before scorched earth and I had beaten that map so i have to go back and hope that my dinos are still there and redo the bossfight again. I did notice that ASA Aberration to me isnt as nice as in ASE
@@Syntac it’s not the drakes, I had to deal with 11 reaper queens and so many other nasties combined, and I only made it 20% of the way and had to bail.

Yi Ling is so damn hard to tame, I couldn’t even get 1 hit on it. Syntac made it look so easy.

26:53 that is the famous bugged nest that insta spawns eggs.
Theres a second one right above where his Megas are chilling as well. That ALWAYS has an egg.
Finally, this video showed me how to get to the red zone from the blue, after there were changes to the layouts of this map.
Watch out around rock drakes. They can get stuck on top of you while dive bombing and shred the HP of your creature
The wild drake dive bombing was greatly improved since SE, I've noticed.

Lore wise, all the purple by the rock drake nest makes sense because of all the element on this ark

Pretty sure Axe's trees are cosmetics, he mentioned it in his last vid but didn't know where he got them from, or if you could see them.

Just to share some personal experience, when i was down there i could use a zip line, at least at the spot i was in. And one time i was down there with my megalosaur and got swarmed by drakes, i got killed while mounted, but maybe thats normal? Idk.

I believe they made rock drakes able to breed so you will have more than enough eggs for a basilisks provided you get an male and female
You can't reliably use the zip lines either I had the same glitch happen to me with the climbing picks and zip line🙃

I personally got my first rock drake egg on Asa on my 126 Karkinos and 162 megalosaurus I just jumped over all the rock drakes till I got to the eggs and grabbed one and ran

Just until they fix climbing picks, yall should consider adding the utilities plus mod. The reusable grapple on that mod works on Ab… just a thought. I know that’s not really your thing, as it’s pretty op and broken, but it’s a fair balance with Wild Card not being able to fix stuff… that’s no shade toward them too, I’m sure it’s a priority issue…

My first ever Rock Drake egg on ASA was a level 190. Absolutely crazy luck.
I real wish wildcard would allow use to unpod Dino anywhere again like you do.

that's the name of the thing i was talking about last ep Tek replicater ( I barely believe I couldn't remember the name of it lol) to hold enough items to craft things that need massive amounts of mats .
I was surprised that Dimorph's are on this map in the red zone and actually I don't remember ever seeing them on the map in the first place . I always get lost going down but mostly coming back up from the rockdrake trench a few time in ase died because of radiation and ran out of suits spent so much time lost lol finally updated my drivers was able to play this map yesterday with out issues of crashing just many issues with nameless popping up in placed they shouldn't be popping up in and the terminal thing sure makes life much easier in asa being able to upload download things from other maps in SP going to spend some time building things on previous maps and bring them over I doubt that I would do well starting from level one on this map
I dont get the whole zip line thing because the dogs dont like radiation which would mean you would have to also use the motor to get up a zipline lol
when I loaded into this map before usign the -dx11 in the properies I had my main character levcel 120 on the map, but it was erased when went to come back on the map after my driver update luckily I always alwasy save a backup of all my savegame files from all ARK . lol I tried to see if I could load my ASE character into ASA but nope I didnt think that it would work but I had to try, unfortunately the old save I used was before scorched earth and I had beaten that map so i have to go back and hope that my dinos are still there and redo the bossfight again.
I did notice that ASA Aberration to me isnt as nice as in ASE
Yeah Cosmo makes the thefts so easy. And dont risk it with the Climbing Picks. Ive lost 4 characters cause of it in the Trench.

supposedly axe has been down there not long before so that could be why there was less drakes
@@Syntac it’s not the drakes, I had to deal with 11 reaper queens and so many other nasties combined, and I only made it 20% of the way and had to bail.

I've gotten over 100 eggs so far, only 3 triple digits: 110, 130, 140. Wife went down ONCE and came home with a 185.
I think they disabled spawn points to help with performance. It’s way less populated
I’m pretty sure they’ve fixed the climbing picks unless they just got broken again
