Dez, consider carefully before you buy tbe MakeUp by Mario Ethereal Eyes. It is very warm and the glitters are very glittery. The mattes are more powdery that creamy which is a negative for me. Given that you tend to wear pinkish lips and cheeks, the colors in the palette will clash. I tried mine twice and passed it on to a relative in her mid 20's. Finally. love the eye look you have on today. Perfect for your eye shape and looks great with the soft lip look you're wearing.
Thanks so much Andrea! And ok, will review my thinking on the Mario palette! I had been sitting on it, so to speak, as it is quite pricey, so I'll reconsider. Do you have any suggestions on a cool-ish matte palette? They seem very few and far between and I don't really want anything above a 10 pan, if poss. Have you tried Viseart, or Vieve?
I am not a big palette girl. I usually only wear one to three shades at the most, My favorite shadows for their texture are Surratt. I buy singles nd put them into the Surratt empty palettes. I have lots of their shades but my all time favorite is a shade called Ombré which looks like nothing but is my perfect transition shade. I pop one of the Surratt shimmers on the middle of my mobile lid over Ombré. Not a big Visesrt fan. I decluttered a mini Visesrt. The shades almost had too much pigment for me and I found them slightly dry but that might be good for you since your eyelids are oily.
Thank you so much - not bought from Surratt before - I know Michele Wang loves them. Also, I think you were kind enough to recommend watching TTSandra on UA-cam - she is my new makeup fave - so gorgeous and helpful too - and dark haired, which is a bonus!
When we used to be able to get smashbox in the uk I was obsessed with the primerizer I actually managed to use two whole bottles up! For lid primers try the too faced shadow insurance I have the worst oily eyelids and this one is incredible ❤
LE Muse is lovely. Always think it looks great on you. I have one but it snapped so I don’t go for it as much as I would like…might buy a new one. I read that you shouldn’t push them up too far out of the casing
Hi Dez re oily eyelids - I would recommend avoiding putting any moisturiser, eye cream, or serum on your eyelids during skincare application. Then just use your usual light face powder to set the lids and below the eyes before applying eyeshadow. Not sure but that might be what’s happening. PS your brows look great!
That is a very good idea, Fi! I will give that a go - I just need to remember as I tend to slap it my moisturiser on all over without giving it much thought! And honestly can't thank you enough re brows - I've actually ordered a new NYX brow pen in a lighter shade too so looking forward to trying that out. Have a lovely Sunday!
Hello, Dez - Thank you for this useful round-up of products. I used to use the IT cosmetics concealer - but not for under my eyes: I warmed it up on my hand and stippled all over as a high coverage foundation (I have used the Glossier Stretch Concealer this way, too). I don't use it now as there are plenty of other products that do the same thing and with better colour matches. Like you, I now use a glowy rather than a matte powder to set makeup. I must try the Hourglass one you recommend! Thanks again, Ruth
Thanks so much Ruth! And that's a great idea re the IT concealer - I am definitely going to try that! One of the powders I am interested in is the Prisme Libre by YSL but it is super spendy - it's in my cart but I haven't pressed buy yet 😉
Hi Dez! I so enjoy hearing about your faves and fails. You give such great explanations which is so helpful. Whenever I see you swatch that Merit blush, it looks so creamy and delicious! That’s on my list to try. I love how liquid lipstick looks on you. In fact, I probably never mentioned this before, but you have such perfect lips! I wish I could wear liquid lipstick but I always find it so drying and I feel like you can just see the lines on my lips🤷🏼♀️ Hope it’s a great start to your week my friend!❤️
Aww thanks so much Tina! Merit is a gorgeous brand. It's funny with liquid lipsticks - I love look and feel but sometimes just after I've applied them they leave a dark ring around my top lip - that happened today with the Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit (love that name!) so it's a bit hit and miss. Have a fabulous week yourself ❤️❤️❤️
NARS Smudge Proof Pro Eye Primer is great. The Lisa Eldridge Team suggested it to me, when I couldn’t get the Lisa Eldridge eyeliner to stay put. The eyeliner still doesn’t work, but it’s a very good primer for eyeshadow ❤
Ooh thank you! I will definitely give it a go - I'm going to gather a few and will plan in a dedicated video as oily lids do seem to be a bit of an issue for many of us ❤
I've heard Alter Ego's eye primer its a dupe for it. I haven't tried the Nars, but the Alterego makes my fade prone eyeshadows last really well. Worth grabbing along the Nars since its a fraction of the price and twice the product
Thank you! I would love to try Alter Ego but as I'm UK based the shipping costs are a bit high. I am considering buying one or two of their palettes which would help, so might add the eye primer to my basket 😉

The Urban Decay eyeshadow primer is excellent. I have the oiliest eyelids ever and this is the only one that really works. Hope this helps 😊
Yes so many products do come down to personal preferences , and what works for each of us .
Thanks for sharing Dez :xx
You are stunning. Love the hair, makeup and ear rings. Sophisticated and elegant. You are an inspiration.
I've been using the Smashbox Eye Primer for years. Great stuff. Greetings from Canada.
Thanks for sharing, Dez. Loved hearing your faves and fails. Hope your 2024 is off to a great start!
Thanks Tina, and the same to you ❤️
Kiko Milano Radiant Fusion Baked Powder is a nice talc-free alternative for Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder.
Ooh thanks, not come across that - will add it to my list to try ❤️
Great round up Dez! Happy New Year!
Thanks so much Tamara, and the same to you!
Hi Dee I find pro long wear paint pot by Mac or Milan eyeshadow primer are really good eye primers ❤
Coincidentally I've just fished out my Mac Paintpot to try it out again - thank you!

I like this primer from smash box. My Makeup does last a long time. I agree with you. Thank you for sharing.❤
Thanks Odette. Now on the hunt for the best eye primer - will report back!

Have you tired the Nars Eye Primer..... I think its the best.
I am going to look at the Hourglass foundation when next in the shops .... looks lovely.
Oooh thank you, I'll look it up! Let me know how you get on with the Hourglass 🤞
Sorry but i really feel everything you have shown are expensive and everyone cant do this these days great video video thanks 🎉
Ah yes I suppose they are - but I do have lots of affordable videos too. My latest lippy one has a mixture of high end and drugstore ❤️
