I have and friend who is an elderly widow and myself and my son and several of my friends help her take care of her house. It's so important for every community to look after it's elders.
this is so terrible how we treat seniors, veterans, homeless...the most vulnerable people in this country are just left out to rot and die. it's not right!
Focus is on all the illegals.
Too many people don't accept personal responsibility! The government can't be counted on to help or support us in any way.
Where is her family?
When we make it uncomfortable for the politicians things will change. Speak out, go to public meetings and voice your concerns

Condolences to her friend! Thank you everyone that did help the 90-year-old woman! If communities just put their energy toward these things, a lot could be done. Taxes go up every year, and if the seniors don't pay, they lose their houses that they worked all their lives for. It is good if people have families to help, but not everyone does, and cost often gets in the way.

When I lived in south Mississippi, a group of us, not all church members fixed a couple of houses for folks. We later started building houses for Habitat for Humanity, but when my family got involved it was a roof and plumbing repair for a widow and inside work and painting for an elderly man. It was summer and HOT, but so rewarding!
I'm 60 and solo, and I know I can't even think about the community helping me, it's my own self or contractors. But I have planned for this, mentally and financially, and I have been fortunate to hold a job that helps me do this. By and large in the US, without family, you are on your own.
This issue should not depend on the budget, but instead be a part of the budget.

Ms. Dean was 90 years old, if she has children they are likely elderly themselves. Not everyone has children or grandchildren. Some people's children have passed away or in a condition where they can't help. That IS what family is supposed to do, but it's also what comminity is supposed to do as well. Not being related to someone doesn't mean you shouldn't help when you see some on in need.

My house is being compromised by fracking in the Midland oil basin of Texas the result being earthquakes and land movements. The process of fracking pulls oil out from underground so it can be further refined and sold. Last year there were 5.1 and 5.3 strength earthquakes in our general area caused by this process.

Condolences to Ms. Bobbie's family and especially her friend Ms. Willie Mae. Such devastation so many elderly are facing in America. Trillions spent on those young able bodied people who are on generational Welfare BUT the Government cannot fund programs to assist elderly to repair their houses as they have no money. You can even hear her shortness of breath, due to the long mold and cold exposure, in her 2024 April interview. Many even losing their paid off homes, becoming homeless, due to HIGH Property Taxes!! Sadness indeed for the seniors and veterans.

I live in a mobile home that needs repair, my roof has a couple leaks and I can see mold its hard when on disability.
People only care when you are healthy to do for them when you need help they GHOST you!!! This just breaks my heart, this reminder to cut of anyone who not there for you when you are at your weakest points

Finding the right contractors? The city should already have contractors in place when these programs are approved and funded.

Awe God Bless both of them the one gone and the one still here. We need to take care of our elderly folks better. We need to take care of each other better as a whole. Sad but she no longer has to deal with the sadness of this world she is now with our Lord in heaven and may she find the love and peace she didn't find here.

An elderly citizen who has worked jobs and paid taxes that have benefited the government deserve help when they are in a position where they can not work and help themselves. The government is supposed to be for the betterment of the people. She was a person.
