Hey Steve, silly question but why would you bother setting up a 'multi cam clip' during recording ? Wouldnt it be easier to record individually and then make a multi cam clip in post ?
Because that is the process live Multicam on fcp for ipad requires- it automatically places the angels into a multicam clip upon completion of recording, so you have to set up the formatting pre-record.
Do these phones need to be on the same iCloud or something? When connecting devices for multicam it finds my phone and my wife’s device but we’re set up in the same family on iCloud. But my friends can’t seem to connect to my iPad multicam at all and I’ve tried 3 different friends iPhones am I missing something?
All phones have to be running the free Final Cut Camera app, with Bluetooth enabled and be on the same WiFi network. The phones in question do NOT need to have the same Apple ID, but they DO have to have one.
Does each phone then have to capture its own Video to an external drive or can this set up allow for all the cameras to be recored to the single drive hooked up to the ipad
Great video. I have a question regarding using the same iPad that I am monitoring to shoot the video. If I am monitoring off the iPad Pro and using two other cameras, does this set up work or will I have to monitor with the iPad Pro but only have two camera cameras
You can’t live switch live. I think this update was way over hyped. I see nothing new here and nothing I will use. I am a day one user of the Final Cut x for Mac and used ripple training at the start to get my head around it. So big fan of ripple training. I think let’s get real here, no live switching. Ideally at the end of a podcast you should be done without going back over it.
Meanwhile, Dave Lee plans to incorporate this into his process for making videos for 3.7 million subscribers, and I’m pretty impressed watching someone using it as I write this. Why should people care whether you use it?
@@roryonabike5863 you dont care and you move on with your day doing your own thing. the new app might work for a small music video but it will make doing a long podcast video recording the same length of time as it always did by filming, then editing. So for a lot of people hoping they could live edit on the fly and had their hopes built up for a big release they are disappointed. you dont need to care at all if many other editors are dissapinted you can always just do your own thing
@@HouseofRen Right. I’ll listen to Dave Lee before some self-appointed authority who has 859 subscribers and makes “Cinematic Wedding Videos” :) I don’t think that you even know how professional podcasts are made, let alone how people like Dave Lee make their UA-cam videos. Have you even watched what Lee said about this? He thinks that it’s going to simplify and speed up his workflow significantly.
Thanks, I tried using the new Multicam function without watching your tutorial. That didn't work too well. Will you be adding this function to your FCP iPad tutorial? Keep up the good work.
@@rippleguys Thank you. Is it possiable to use the iPad Files app to find the FCP for iPad Project file like we can use the Files app on a Mac to find a FCPX Project file?
It’s inside the app bundle. The only way to search for it is to move it outside the app bundle - I cover how to do this in our training - watch lesson 32 www.rippletraining.com/ripple-player/v3.9/?tid=282343&rt_uid=0&Product%20Page&Button&Product%20Trial&Final%20Cut%20Pro%20for%20iPad:%20Getting%20Started%20Trial
Can this be done on a macbook with FCP app instead? What if I prefer to record/edit using my macbook instead of an ipad. Will multicam recording/editing work with FCP for mac?
Great singing voice. Nice video.😊
Nice! Thanks!
Thanks Robin (that tutorial was so much work!)
@@rippleguys Er… YEAH, I'll bet it is when it's that well done. Tell me about it! 😉
Great tutorial! Excited to try live multicam in my next project. Thanks for sharing!
Can I get a link to the belkin. I ordered the iphone hub from Kondor like 3 months ago still no idea when it will be sent.
what belkin hub are you. using

@inteGreation I had the same thought... not sure I see the benefit for live Multicam vs simply post-production Multicam.
Very cool! Thanks! BTW I guess this and FCPX iPad 2 show Apple is committed to FCPX!" :0)
Does this only work if you have an iPad or can you only use two iPhones?
This seems like a good solution for podcasters wanting to record a video version.

Each phone must capture its own independent movie - and it stores it on the iOS device inside the app.
Hi this option for multi camera is available on MacBook also .?
No - just iPad

Yes you can both monitor and shoot from the same iPad
Super. Thanks for quick response.
This new app is awesome!! I hope they add log recording to cinematic mode at some point.
that would be a dream come true
Did you really saw the podcast ?
You ´ll find « Log ».
Thanks for the tutorial Steve. Your daughter has a lovely voice.😇
wow

Yes we added it - lesson 23 -
would this setup work with a macbook pro running final cut as A cam?
No, Final Cut Camera is an iOS app.
Can someone please tell me where FCP for iPad 2 stores video files on an iPad? Thank you.
By default stores them inside the app - but now you can choose to store them on a drive - either cloud or local SSD -

Unfortunately no - only iPad - but what is cool is you can move the project from your iPad to your Mac and edit it there if you prefer
Is the choppy playback when recoding normal or are my eyes playing tricks with me?
Yes it’s choppy -
