This show is gonna be wild!
It's SSOO unfair that you guys get to watch the show 1 month earlier than all of us in the U.S. Damn.
This going to be quite an adventure and education too, I suppose!
Thanks Alex and Josh
It’s Nicholas Galitzine’s world we’re just living in it
“If I looked like you, I’d rule the fucking planet!”
Nicholas Galitzine is on a mission.
And we love it
Fun fact: That homophobic stuff in the Kings James bible was added after 1900, my grandmothers version from 1890 did not have it. Food for thought. Also how short of span things went from being tolerated to horrific. FYI
Wait… was King James of the Bible version THIS James???
This is a bloody great film. As for Nicholas Galitzine, he's a star! He can demand millions for good movie rolls. His ship has came in. I'm happy for him!!
i love how this show has a modern script to it, and the somewhat contradictions add to the acid humor of it all
the transition from 'I like giraffes' to the 'I like turtles' clip cracked me tf up
Mary and George hasn’t released yet in the US…so…In the words of the terminator “I’ll be back” to watch this reaction 😂 after April 4!!
"Scottish semen guzzlers" has to be the greatest line I've ever heard uttered. I feel like I need to get this as a tattoo 😊
This is a hot show, they don't shy away from male frontal nudity and i'm here for it lol
Nicholas is such a voice and figure to be reckoned with! He is here to stay and absolutely deserve it! What an actor
Hey guys! For some insight as to how such relations were thought of back in the day, check out this passage from Marlowe’s play Edward II, published in 1594:
Leave now to oppose thyself against the king,
Thou seest by nature he is mild and calm,
And seeing his mind so dotes on Gaveston,
Let him without controlment have his will,
The mightiest kings have had their minions,
Great Alexander loved Ephestion,
The conquering Hector, for Hilas wept,
And for Patroclus stern Achilles drooped,
And not kings only, but the wisest men,
The Roman Tully loved Octavis,
Grave Socrates, wild Alcibiades:
Then let his grace, whose youth is flexible,
And promiseth as much as we can wish,
Freely enjoy that vain light-headed earl,
For riper years will wean him from such toys.
In other words, “It’s just a phase!”
binged the series in 2 nights. You are going to fucking love this. And excuse you, 'a body's a body' is the bi/pan creed, thank you.
I binged this the day it came out and honestly it's AMAZING! I'm very picky about period dramas but this is just stunning. The costumes, the settings, the dialogue, the ACTING. It's a wonderful show and I hope you enjoy it. I was wondering when you'd react to it! Have fun, and the rauchiness is on its way!!
Nicholas Galitzine world domination incoming! Seriously, M&G is such an excellent series. Currently rewatching ❤️🔥🤌🏻🫠
mary in this show has me absolutely GAGGED and i live for it
Back then many ppl didnt care about other's sexuality. That changed in Victorian times for their contemporary culture and also subverted their own history to try and portray it like "hating gays and gays in hiding" was always a thing when it actually wasnt at all
IV been waiting for this one can't wait to watch all your reaction to Mary and George
That was SO intense, holy F. Also Nick is AMAZING and I'm sure he will have so much fun in France if you know what I mean. Love your reaction, looking forwards to your reactions to the other episodes because here in Spain Sky are releasing an episode a week :(
I’m gonna need you to watch all the episodes cause it gets CRAZY
I would say the reason James felt so brazen to be openly queer in public was because he was an absolute monarch who had complete authority and was not only above the law, he WAS the law. Anyone else would have been much more discrete because homosexuality was illegal in England at the time, thanks to Henry VIII a century or so before. Also, I’m not sure this series accurately portrays James’ behaviour at his court. There were certainly rumours of his preferences with male favourites but I doubt he was openly kissing them. Historians debate to this day what his sexuality was. He was known to have at least one female lover in his youth and had several children with his Queen, as well as his likely affairs with Somerset, Buckingham and one man before them.
This series is so good, especially the later episodes
James could be so brazen because he was an absolute monarch. He wasn't just a figure head like today.
Nicholas Galitzine is so freaking talented and pretty ❤
In Canada and the USA new episodes drop on Starz and Prime on Fridays starting on April 5th. Finally seen the first episode and love it.
Such a fun, naughty show this is going to be! 🔥 Another series you might consider, based in the same time period, is TNT's Will. The HOT actor playing Somerset in Mary & George played Will Shakespeare, and the show also had Jamie Campbell Bower (Vecna from Stranger Things) playing Christopher Marlowe, who was a debaucherous gay character unable to commit fully to his lover (Thomas Walsingham, son of Lord Walsingham) because he is tormented by the loss of the older man whom he loved in his youth. It was a beautifully laid out show. (Though, being set in Elizabethan times, it had more than it's fair share of religious persecution and torture scenes.) Still worth a watch!
Gee thanks. Will watch.
Anything with Nicholas Galitzine, im down😍
I was drooling at him the whole time❤
I don’t see it, personally. I found the guy playing the courtier to his French tutor to be way more attractive, even before the nude scene. Lol. And the guy who played Alex in RWARB… holy crap, he’s gorgeous.
Oh I've been WAITING for this one
The show is so good and Nicholas galitzine’s acting is superlative.
My favorite part of watching here instead of patreon, is when you edit the reaction clips my brain did on patreon 😂
OK it seems fantastic and actually funny anecdote, the actor who plays Jean, is named Khalil and he plays in skam france !
I literally shouted "Bilal" when he came on screen! 😂😂
i can't wait to hear your thoughts on this series!! these characters can be so wicked lol
Loving Josh back in his Vests 💪💪💪
YES I WAS WAITING AND U GUYS DELIVERED
Happy you're doing this series!
it's great to see a more realistic representation of that time period before other sexual identities apart from heterosexuality were condemned. bodies were just bodies, and as mary said, it was also currency. it's best to watch this show without our modern morals and expectations on ppls behavior, just let go and enjoy how outrageous it can be lol
i was waiting for your guys' reaction so yaaaaay
I saw how incredibly fit the actor playing the Earl of Somerset was and wondered what else I'd seen him in...turns out he was Mr Mistoffelees in the Cats film! Man has range!
I can't wait to see this!!!
08:18 When I saw the episode for the first time I thought, yes they are going to be offended by this phrase hahaha
Arriving a month late now that this show has finally dropped in the U.S. Hooked based on this episode. Loving Julianne Moore!
I got so excited when I recognised the one french guy from a movie I've seen at a queer film festival last year 😄
The movie is called 'Le paradis' (I think the english title is 'the lost boys') if anyone is curious.
😂 not "mary had a little plan" 😂 but this was a delicious series 🤌🏾🥵 🍿🍷🎥
I binged this show it was soooo good omg
Guys Young Royals is coming, be ready for it
I can't wait to see your reactions to episode 3... I mean 😏😏
do you know when all the episodes will be available on patreon? i want to sign up but i can only afford one month and want to be able to watch all of them
learning English from u guys😂
Great Merch BTW!!
As the English at the time said, they had a King (Elizabeth) and now they have a Queen (James). James also promulgated very strict laws against sodomy.
This show was a MASTERPIECE. Also I really liked the show Will it is a period drama about William Shakespeare. There is some queer representation in it
Can't wait to watch it but it doesn't air in North America until April on Starz in both Canada and the USA.
Have 2 episodes left to watch.
What other gay period pieces were you referring to in the into?
@7:28 right after walking through that first room, briefly the door was opened to the second path and think that was the gay room since looked like there was a guy on all 4's. So that guy took George through the tamer of the two rooms.
HISTORY IS SEXY!!!
Thanks for the book recommendation
EMMY CAMPAIGN
Watched all seven episodes and boy oh boy is it deliciously, deviously, viciously GAY GAY GAY.
finallyyyyyyy ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I keep forgetting that there are some things tha the Brits get to see first; Here in the States we have to wait another month.
Have you thought about reviewing Gentleman Jack?
I watched them all finished yesterday. You’re right. I read that too he almost doubled down and was a hypocrite. He condemned “sodomites” as we were known then to death in most cases. It was only because he was king that he “got away with it”. It was a great show and an interesting story. I like you thought there were some hot men occasionally.. but back then men and most people weren’t that attractive…… not by today’s standards. Bodies are more toned and broader as we evolved. Diet ect and lifestyles are different. As most people only lived till average of 30-40 range and rare cases 50 maybe. And am I the only that is thinking……how the hell did they prepare for sex back then?!? lol as they used to wash in basins and not a full wash just their parts soo 🤢..
I’ve just binged this recently, and dare I say that it’s positively, erotically, intoxicating, romantically, and dramatic. And I loved every minute of it! One could say that Mary was the historical realistic version of Mother Gothel. After all, Mother knows best!!!
👩🏻🦰👨❤️👨👑❤️🖤🤍
I’m trying to decide they wait until I actually watch the series to watch the recaps. I don’t get it till April 5 because I live in Canada :( recaps now, so I know what to expect in the story….
I'm canadian and watched them all this week. Use a vpn. 😉
@@destyniiskywalker thank you I was thinking of trying that…
I wish I could hear more of Josh 😭😭😭😭😭
❤❤❤
Tony Curran is the goat of recent Scottish actors
Wonderful sodo ites😊😊
Just a little note - King James I/VI did not "write" the King James bible - he commissioned a group of scholars to translate. It is quite homophobic (which is probably poor translation and contiues to be the basis of poor translation) - but it might have been a way for the translation scholars to send a message to the king rather than a power play by the king. Nonetheless, while much of the legacy of this translation is quite wonderful, the homophobia is quite horrible.
GUYS GUYS PLEASE WATCH THE DANCE OF THE 41
OK good to know you are doing these...but we wont get this until next month here in the US
The US cannot watch it until April 5th :0(
Is not that this time was more free with queer people. Its about power. On the status of a king or really rich kids in a school of status, these are the kind of people that had the liberty to be queer. Would be a much different story for poor people who were queer back then.
Have you seen Savage Grace with Julianne Moore and Eddy Redmayne. It is scandalous.
I didn't like this show at all and I couldn't finish it I stopped after E3 😅, but I'm gonna watch your reaction to it
guys you need to watch good omens, hazbin hotel and helluva boss all very gay shows
The Victorians ruined it all for everyone.
nick is amazing in it, I wish the story was more his but not sure why the show kept emphasizing on making it Mary's story, tbh kinda got really annoying for me in the end,,,,, there was just so much potential with george and least to say NICK OWNS THE ROLE, just why not let it be his,,, like they kept trying to stir the ship in marys direction when it makes 0 sense. No matter cant wait to see yalls review of the show overall it was really enjoyable tho it just a lot of thing made me mad which could have been avoided lol
