Any Atlas with a RAC 2/5 is an amazing Atlas in my book. I used a build similar to this once, I think I remember somehow managing to squeeze 2x RAC/2s on, but I’m probably misremembering and just had a RAC5. Either way, that thing was a monster, you feel like more of a tank than ever before. The RAC weapon system is *meant* to be wielded by the Atlas.
@@zahgurim7838 Not really. As tanky as a Fafnir is, with how huge it's profile is, in RAC facetime unless you have like... 4 RAC 2s with Juggernaut, it's not the best because of just how hard it is to miss a Fafnir. Atlas is better due to having an overall smaller profile. More armor on an Atlas as well, which is better for facetime. That's why the Fafnir primarily uses the Gauss system, Pop-and-turn.
Hm, I disagree. The profile of an Atlas is not that much smaller, its features are more distinct, it is taller and less compact, way easier to be hit in specific parts, so the bonus armor is not that much of value. The profile only benefits you when twisting, that's why the Atlas comes with the AC20. Shoot, twist, repeat. Fafnir with 2 RAC5s and some supporting lasers tho, I prefer it over the Atlas. ...but in the end I prefer the Anni over the Fafnir in terms of stare-down@@allthenamesiwantedweretaken
my experience from piloting Atlas is, that whenever you appear 1 or both of below happens enemies: Oh heck! Its an Atlas! Quick, focus fire and get rid of it! Allies: Oh nice we have an Atlas in our area. He can handle it all alone, lets go somwhere else And then, You die.
Started running a very similar Zeus build lately. Rac5, 3 Large Xpulse, and 3 rocket 15s. Less armor (obviously), but is quicker. Rac and lasers are on the same side so you can peak.
Blood asp, 6 ER large, fill the rest with heat sinks and an ecm. It makes for a very high fire rate sniper. Been averaging 900 to 1000 damage when I can get positioned well.
You know something I notice a lot in this community is the hate for RACS and I don't understand why. I think they preform pretty well and are fun to use even if I don't use them much. I hear about complaints about you really can't torse twist, but when you are shooting a guy to the point where they can't see you like at all, twisting isn't as important. Unless you want to stare down like 4 mechs at once but then I would argue that you are just playing the game wrong anyways. But Baradul seems to enjoy using them so that's a plus.
Enjoy the videos. Not a player, but loved the board game and lore from when I was a kid. I'm curious about the firepower. Didnt the Rifleman have a similar load out minus the RAC5? I would have thought a much bigger mech would support a little more than that.
I like to think of my mech stats as 3 different categories, where I can only pick 2. The king crab has good armour and firepower, but is slow and has bad agility. The atlas has great armour and agility, at the cost of weaponry
Really? Looking at the vision the Atlas is going around 57KPH which is like crusing the neighbourhood in a modern car these days. And it takes him a while to get to the conflict in my opinion
In order for a Rifleman to fit a similar loadout but without the RAC5, it would need to be moderately armored with no additional cooling. The playstyle would need to be completely different than how you'd want to run the Atlas AS7-RS as shown in this video. Think sneak-and-peek with the Rifleman instead of lumbering toward the frontline as a mobile fortress in the Atlas. Similar to what the even slower Annihilator does but I'd say the Annihilator does mobile fortressing better.
This is similar to my Kraken build. LBX10, 2 LXPLs and 2MXPLs, with maxed Armour on the mech and in the tech tree. I posted nearly 1200 damage in my best game with it the other day.
It look similar to my DC with 2x RAC-5 and 3xSRM-6+artemis. A bit more damage and a bit less focus fire, less heat, but due to SRMs cooldown you can lead a target and land shots of every kind of weapons simultenioulsy. udp: and yes, STD engine, 325 power, + ECM + artemis
I use the same build in mw5 on the atlas boars head (also fantastic with 6xmxpl) it's op! and with the clan cooling lines the overheat is not a problem.
I did a similar build, but didn't put the RAC in and just used the 4LXP. Instead I had 22 double heat sinks and found I could fire the 4LXP pretty much indefinitely. This means I only had to withdraw for positioning reasons and not due to any overheating. Enemies would try to out DPS me and overheat themselves while I could keep shooting.
This even looks so overbuffed... I've made a similiar build for Black Widow (2 XPulses ofcourse, not 4) And the Stone Rhino could not handle a showdown. Its insane!
Thanks as always for the great content! I'm not a fan of lxpl nor RACs, so this may not be the build for me. :D I do now hope they make a Legendary Hellspawn that comes with 80% Overheat Damage Reduction, or something.
Seems toasty but looks like a viable build for the poor Atlas RS. Also, I noticed there're a lot of new players in MWO, so maybe you shouldn't assume the team is going to follow behind you in an Atlas as that's old-school thinking. At the very least you should check on the map to see if your team is actually following you around a corner. Good video otherwise Bara. 🙂
Please try out my newest build . Atlas d-dc. Standard 300. 2 rac 5s 3 mrm20s. Ecm lams endo max tank amd all the coolshots as it runs hot . Lots of fun for an old mech
Fun Fact... a Fafnir 5B can do 2xRAC5's with 4xLXPL... just saying. Or 2xRAC2's instead if you're sensible... or a coward. Fear not the heat my child... for it is the power of the sun.
Did Baradul noticed my ATLAS build? What a great honor. My build is different, instead of using endo structure, I used standard structure with lighter armor to free all space so I can add a couple more double heat sinks and using a XL engine. Risky to use the XL engine but worth the extra weight for more heat sinks.
The games a JIP don’t play the game its unbalanced. PGI goes in and adjusts your hit boxes and damage done when people complain your wining too much that’s why lots of people are leaving
this build sucks, lol over heat too easily its only good if you have lots of friends nearby... otherwise youll get anihilated due to lack of sustained dmg.. all i play atlas.. and i wouldnt use this with the ra5, id drop the ra5 and use straight heatsinks... its fun dont get me wrong... but yea... Ill stick to my kraken build with 1 rac5, 5 small lazers, mrm 30 and mrm20.. The dps is 150 nearly and its constant you never overheat with that and youre a total brick house with that build... to where this just overheats after 3 seconds
"Teamwork is essential - it gives the enemy other people to shoot at."

A 'Mech as powerful as possible, as impenetrable as possible, and as ugly and foreboding as conceivable, so that fear itself will be our ally.

@zahgurim7838 nah, Fafnir works best with dual Heavy Gauss Rifles in my experience
Nice build!! With those weapons I prefer range over cool down...it's give you more dos when you shoot outside optimal range..thanks for the video
Bara lives, that's good enough for me. So happy to see him back!
"No brakes on the pain train!" :D
I think you saw me with that Atlas. My build is with 2 Rotary 5 and 6 Small Lasers. It's fun and you can see indeed the panic in them :)

Amazing Atlas push
Sick fun build i wil try that for sure!
This was absolutely epic

managed to stuff this build onto a Battlemaster, it's funny.
Heh “follow the atlas” are usually famous last words or glorious rallying cry.
The depiction of X-pulse lasers in this game basically make them Energy RACs (energy machineguns for the smaller ones).
Somehow you've managed to make teeth out of coherent light. Nice video!
Ah, good ol' "Structure is just extra heat sinks".
If the RAC5 is mainly intimidation, then a RAC2 for more heat sinks might make sense.

i got a build like that on my hunchback 4H.
yeah it's only able to run 3 Med X pulses, but like you showed. bulky mech plus RAC5 be fun.
I do a Banshee La Menche with 3x lxpl and a ac10 quirked well. Also, Banshee 3S with rac5 and 6x mxpl.
i find it much better if you put in single heat sinks rather then double heat sinks you can (singles hold more heat/doubles disapates heat faster)
I did a similar build, but didn't put the RAC in and just used the 4LXP. Instead I had 22 double heat sinks and found I could fire the 4LXP pretty much indefinitely. What Mech did you use for your build?
RS Atlas, same as Baradul uses here, but without the RAC and instead more armor and heatsinks
Annihilator.
2 Rac2s, 3 LXpulses, 15 heat sinks.
Stares longer, stays longer, hits stronger :)
Protip, if you're in a drop with atlas Bara and he starts conducting the pain train, best crash in behind him! Lol
I always was looking to make an Atlas be a killer...never found the combo. This one looks good though :)
Okay that thing is brutal. And hot.
Kindly put a build link in the description
if you really want the hardcore version of this build, then take the warlord, 2x rac5 and rest med xpulses...insane
I do this on the boars head 3 med x pulse 3 large xpulse, and a rac2
Wait, laser duration affects pulses?! 😮 Wtf have I been doing with my life??
Yessir, all lasers. Pulse or otherwise.
You should get credit for three kills in the second match. The guy overheated and killed himself immediately after killing you.
This even looks so overbuffed... I've made a similiar build for Black Widow (2 XPulses ofcourse, not 4)

NGNG: MAX DPS TANK! ... Baradul: MASSIVE DPS TANK !! ... some sort of title agreement going on in the backdoor? 🧐
Ooops! Did I? Wasn't my intention. Shoutout to Phil then :P
Were the builds similar? Or, just the titles?
@@Artificer1911 just the title really xD
phil uses a dual rac 5 + dual lbx 5 annihilator
That is a hot hot hot build
kann dir auch den D-DC mit 2 rac 5s und 2 med-x-pulses empfehlen ;-)

In that first game, a hunchback iic did almost 1200 damage. What the hell was he doing? Lol
oh, that's me lol
My kind of build.
Love it!
Those Ravens helping you just pop around a corner was mean. No one wants to have an Atlas appear out of nowhere firing it's alpha.
So, who got the bounty?
LRG X-pulses sound is off - sound like some micro lasers not meaty woob-woob
