    Hello. I am from Portugal. I am new in this world of cakes...thank you so much to teach wonderful things. Please tell me. This kind of scraper you are using,.is the best? I have seen other ones, in plastic, acrilic...you use te metal one. Do you recomend to someone is in the begin...is very difficult to me to cover the cake with buttercream and look like this one...perfect ❤❤

      Hi Paula, I'm so happy you found the channel. In terms of the scraper I've always liked using a metal one. I have a smaller version and this long one by PME. I have always tended to use metal scrapers and I love that if you are struggling with smoothing your buttercream you can warm a metal scraper in a little hot water, wiping off the excess water first, and this really helps.     Hi lynz. I love watching your videos. I'm going to make a birthday cake for my daughter next week. I've made some star topper to putt them on the cake. (I'm little afraid to work with fondant). So i might frost my cake with chocolate ganache. In that case Can i putt directly my fondant toppers to the ganash frosting.

      Thank you so much, I'm so pleased you like the videos. Yes you can definitely add the stars onto the ganache. I would wait until it is firm and then attach with some edible glue. If the ganache is still soft it could cause the stars to go a little soft if they soak up any of the oil from the ganache. Happy Birthday to your Daughter for next week x

    Thank you for sharing this great cake design. I'm still new when it comes to decorating cakes. I am curious if I could used an unused embossing folder? Only asking as I have one with pure little kiss lips

      I'm so glad you like it. I have used embossing folders before for my cakes, I especially love using them for fondant. I haven't actually tried them with buttercream, but I don't see any reason they wouldn't work, the pattern just may not be as deep. Definitely worth trying if you have one you haven't used before.

    Hi lynz hope your OK. A lovely cake for valentines. Could you answer a question for me please. How do you manage to pick up your cakes with a palete knife and metal spatula without damaging your cake ? I've tried this and I always get a dent. Thanks x

      Hi Jo, I am very well, thank you. I hope you are too. I'm so glad you like the cake. In regards to moving the cake with the spatulas I always try and move the cake just after it's been chilled, this way it's a little firmer, so the spatula doesn't pull into the cake or buttercream too much. I also make sure the thinner spatula is at the back of the cake as I sometimes do get little dents but I have a tiny spatula that I can use to repair the edge if I need to.

      Hi, Yes definitely. The only difference is the piping gel might stay a little tacky or take a little longer to dry, whereas the confectioners glaze dries completely, really quicky.

      Hi Jaya, I'm so glad you liked it. It was a 5 inch cake which I baked in 3 separate tins. I then divided each cake into 2 layers, so it was 6 layers high. The cake ended up 5 inches x 5.5 inches

      I'm not sure I could get them as neat as the stamp, but you could definitely freehand the text too.
