Hi, I have a window handle that just turns but doesn’t move the mechanism. The mechanism doesn’t move on its own either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The window is on the 1st floor as well so makes it more awkward
@@samgraham5287 sounds like mechanism has seized or could be the spindle home on the lock or handle has rounded off. Please supply images of the lock & handle if possible and send to sales@dgpsuk.com
My top bathroom window handle was just flopping about with the window locked, the handle not doing anything. Took it off with the two screws. The spindle had almost disappeared into the mechanism. Had to fish it out with some tweezers. Tapped it back in to the handle as it appears to be a friction fit. Refitted it with a bit of difficulty. With the window open fitted the handle in the open position and all is good. Makes you wonder if a longer spindle should have been fittted in the first place. Is it a common thing these spindles working loose?
Hi, yes it's fairly common for the spindles to get stuck in the locks, we see it a lot in our coastal area due to the salt air. The spindle should be long enough to just pop out the other side of the lock when installed.
Hi Installed a new window handle replacing an old rusty one. Old one worked fine just replaced to freshen up. 1 went on well and worked fine but when I got to the others the new handle fit ok but the handle wouldn’t open once installed. Spindle length appeared to be ok but could this be the cause of the handle not opening? Cheers
@@CabOnTarget yes they are a pain, but just need to use a 6mm drill bit and drill the heads of to remove the handle then you can either rerivet or screw a new handle on. 👍
Hi. The problem is that the spindle is stuck in the window. So I can remove the handle but the spindle is still inside and I cannot take it off. It just doesn’t move. What can I do?
Hi, try soaking it overnight with WD40 or a good penetrating oil. It's seized onto the main lock case. Do you live near the coast? You may need to use excessive force if it doesn't release unfortunately.
Hi there, over the last few years a few of my Windows won’t open. The handle turns but the window won’t push open. One by one this has been happening and now I have 3 Windows that won’t open! Is this likely to be that the spindles have worn over time? Can I buy replacement spindles from you, or is it easier just to buy a new handle? I’m thinking of replacing all the handles on my Windows as it’s probably a matter of time before they all ending up going!
Hi, it could be the spindles have worn or the actual locking mechanism is broken, try a good handle in a window that doesn't work to see which is the issue. Send some images over to sales@dgpsuk.com for lock identification if you find it's the lock, but yes easier to replace the whole handle rather than the spindles themselves. Regards Steven

Hi, sounds like the main window lock, if you can take some pictures and email over too sales@dgpsuk.com we should be able to help with a replacement lock.
Hi, my handle has snapped completely and I can push the window open as usual, But the handle won’t lock the window which is the most important part, do I just unscrew the broken ans and screw the new one in ? Just easy like that

Hi, my bathroom window handle has snapped off completely, the window is unlocked. When trying to get it off the screws won't budge, one of them is rusted on the head of the screw. I've tried using wd40 to loosen them and tried a rubber ban to get a better grip on the head of the screw but neither of those worked. Do you have any ideas apart from having to drill them out?
