@@a_guy_who_exists original story? In the comics the mask is passed around like a hot potato cause its owner(s) usually end up dying or something. Maybe an adaptation as violent as the comics could divide the comic plot into arcs, or have it so that a new person has the mask in each episode.
I read the two volume omnibus years ago and as dark and violent as the comic is, its also balls to the wall hilarious. It definitely should be adapted into an adult cartoon at some point

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the Mask cartoon is something that could only really work as a handdrawn animation. If you'd tried to do this with 3D animation now, it wouldn't have been nearly as creative or visually fluid. You need the good old fashioned squash and stretch of a hand drawn character to do the Mask it's full justice.
Bruh, can we drop this 2d superiority snootiness. 3d can be just as creative when there's literally so many classic dreamworks & pixar movies to showcase how amazing the medium is, let alone Into the Spiderverse and the Lego movies. Infact Hotel Transylvania for how mediocre its tone is, the animation is top tier. And the Love Death & Robots series is just a 3d Heavy Metal which is perfect for a more comic accurate Mask adaption
@@lewa3910 Into the Spiderverse is a cross between the two techniques. It’s a simple statement of fact that one medium has advantages over another, it’s not “snootiness” at all.
Why haven't they made more comics yet...or a reboot to the animate series or a remake of the Disney move!?!!?!!! Or make a move that's actually based on the comics!!!
Due the popularity and production hell of the sequel, the series would be only notice by a niche comic cult or Nostalgic critic fans(that is how I discovered them). But with the rise of more comic based series they could make a more close to adaptation of the original. An animated anthology series would fit the tone well, each being a different user and how they incorporate it for their own desire. While also having to deal with the large cast of superheroes, crime lords, and WALTER. Even a quote for the trailer "Sometimes a mask is all we need to show who we really are."
