if the commission is from an individual rather than a company, does that influence the price at all?
Yes, it definitely does. With "individuals" the price is much cheaper, as they often can't pay as much. The problem here ist that you still put in the same amount of time as if you were working for "a big client". So this is a thing you have to decide for yourself. I had to put down a lot of private projects due to the low budget people had. But if you are starting out and don't have many or none big clients it is totally fine to work for a smaller fee. It can be a good training too. I hope I could help a little here. :)
Oh, and something I would never do: I would never ever take on a project that takes me an hour (or even longer) for only 20,- or something in that range. That is just not enough for all the time and effort we put into things...
