Dave...I was in the US Army and when I went on leave to go home it was mandatory for me to wear my uniform while leaving the base on my flight, at least till I got to my home. Any body that has served in the military will tell you that it is with great pride that we wore our uniforms and by no means disrespectful. It was actually recommended. I don't know if the majority of civilians know this but while you are in the military (any country not just the USA) you are "owned" by the military. You are subject to their laws and their discipline. On the topic of V's scratch marks on his back they look like the same marks we all got after carrying our duffle bags and our oversized backpacks during training, They are loaded with the supplies that you need while on a specific training ... So in my opinion they were caused while completing a specific training exercise that required to carry a heavy load for an extended period of time.

I was in the Air Force ... I did not have to wear the uniform in such cases... I thought, outside of basic and tech school, if you were "off duty" then no uniform. I did find it curious when Hobi wore his uniform to the pop-up... but I really didn't put too much thought into it. I am one who is proud of the boys for serving... I can't wait to be reintroduced to the men whom come out on the other side. 💜
Tae's bruises/marks look like rope or strap burns, which would make sense with the kind of intensive Special Forces training he's going through. Could be from a simple rope climbing exercise or something of that nature. Coming from a long line of military members in my family, I can tell you, it's nothing to worry about and Tae is probably pretty proud of his "battle scars" so far.

I enjoyed seeing Taehyung's new pics, and all his fans were amazed how manly, buffed and healthy he looks. Those marks are his "wounds of glory" as he himself called them, earned during hard training in full gear. The scratches will heal, he is among very competetive young men and will try even harder in all assignments. The Korean military service is not immune to any kind of PR, even if all eligable men are prepared for service since their young age, it is a difficult period of life, many have said so. So a little boost occasionaly is welcome, seeing a famous idol in uniform watching a soccer game, being smily and in good spirits does show a nicer picture. Just like interest for applying into SDT unit has increased since Kim Taehyung enlisted.

To the people in the comments trying to downplay the injury to Tae's back as a rash, a massage technique, or what have you can you just stop it. Some will do anything and come up with any asinine theory just to downplay the hard work and dedication that Tae is doing in his SDT service. He called it wounds of honor/glory, he wouldn't refer to a "rash" in that manner. I get it you don't like that he gets attention for his hard work and probably see red every time it's mentioned he is in SDT but get over it. Other military men have also said they got similar marks so just cut the BS. The extent to which some go just to discount him and his words while claiming to be a concerned fan is truly nauseating.
Sorry but I think you are over reacting and that most people are making a genuine comment that relates to what they see which is rash and marks in the shape of the straps because Tae is known for having a skin condition that flares up when he overheated, which he would have been doing exercising in full military gear. The areas that would have been affected would be where the most pressure was placed on the skin, so the strap area. The rubbing of the straps and the heat would have caused the injury. All the soldiers probably have the same injury especially after a 20 odd kilometre march but Tae’s Urticaria would have also made it worse. We all knew this would happen to him in the military as he did. It also will happen every time he gets overheated such is the nature of his condition. Yes creams and massage will help, even the scratches. So how is that downplaying Tae’s hard work, which by the way as you mentioned every other soldier in his group went through? They are in the military now and not K Pop idols, each and every one of them will continue to work hard and may have injuries. I am not sure what his point was in posting the picture, we all know that all seven would have had ‘wounds of glory’ not just Tae and none as yet have posted pictures of their wounds! Now don’t try and tell me they have not had any or that Tae is different because he is in the SDT, all soldiers have ongoing training! Jin and Hobi even do the March every 5 weeks, and it is known that Jin carried two packs once for part of it to ensure his trainees passed, they are all working hard. Just because some of his fans have not overacted over his wounds does not mean they are discounting them. It means they are treating him like the adult he is serving in the military.

Tae has Cholinergic Urticaria and I zoomed into the picture and realised that much of it was that, caused by the pressure of the straps during his training. I'm sorry I don't agree wearing their uniforms is not propaganda, it is a way for them to show how proud they are of their country. When retired military personnel in the US appear in news broadcasts or any type of program that is aired to the public and they are wearing their uniforms no one ever says that they are participating in propaganda for the military. So don't assume that is what the members or other Korean men are doing when they post pics of themselves in uniform let them show their pride in their country without judgement.

Hello ! I saw this picture and thought that I might recognize this issue. My husband works out in the elements while building massive structures. He covers up against the sun, etc. he also wears gear. When he sweats in the areas covered by his safety gear often times it looks exactly like this… like a rash from the heat and sweating. I usually have to rub some type of gold bond product in those areas because it’s so itchy and red. To him, letting it air out like V is doing here, feels really good to him. This is just my opinion on what this looks like. The pattern on V’s back looks really familiar and itchy. Either way, I hope he gets proper treatment and finds relief soon!! Poor thing….but he’s doing a great job! They all are!!!

The marks on V's back are a sort of pressure rash. It is probably some sort of burn or chafing from scooting across a surface (similar to a rug burn). My guess he was doing training exercises and was forced to scoot under surfaces as part of evacuation training (like under barbed wire fences or other tight spaces), or similar practices. Plus, he also has a health condition that when he sweats or exerts himself, he gets a rash or hives. With the uniform, as I read from a Korean soldier they have no private clothes in the division and as long as they are not on vacation they wear it. And they have times where they are allowed to do their private stuff for example in the evening after „work“ is done. I think those bruising marks might be part of his allergy. He has a condition called cholinergic allergy. It causes itchy hives created by a raise in body temperature.

Dave...I was in the US Army and when I went on leave to go home it was mandatory for me to wear my uniform while leaving the base on my flight, at least till I got to my home. Any body that has served in the military will tell you that it is with great pride that we wore our uniforms and by no means disrespectful. It was actually recommended. I don't know if the majority of civilians know this but while you are in the military (any country not just the USA) you are "owned" by the military. You are subject to their laws and their discipline. On the topic of V's scratch marks on his back they look like the same marks we all got after carrying our duffle bags and our oversized backpacks during training, They are loaded with the supplies that you need while on a specific training ... So in my opinion they were caused while completing a specific training exercise that required to carry a heavy load for an extended period of time.

I was in the Air Force ... I did not have to wear the uniform in such cases... I thought, outside of basic and tech school, if you were "off duty" then no uniform.
I did find it curious when Hobi wore his uniform to the pop-up... but I really didn't put too much thought into it.
I am one who is proud of the boys for serving... I can't wait to be reintroduced to the men whom come out on the other side.

Tae's bruises/marks look like rope or strap burns, which would make sense with the kind of intensive Special Forces training he's going through. Could be from a simple rope climbing exercise or something of that nature. Coming from a long line of military members in my family, I can tell you, it's nothing to worry about and Tae is probably pretty proud of his "battle scars" so far.
In fact he commented on his own photograph with the writing "the wounds of glory".

The scratches will heal, he is among very competetive young men and will try even harder in all assignments. The Korean military service is not immune to any kind of PR, even if all eligable men are prepared for service since their young age, it is a difficult period of life, many have said so. So a little boost occasionaly is welcome, seeing a famous idol in uniform watching a soccer game, being smily and in good spirits does show a nicer picture. Just like interest for applying into SDT unit has increased since Kim Taehyung enlisted.

To the people in the comments trying to downplay the injury to Tae's back as a rash, a massage technique, or what have you can you just stop it. Some will do anything and come up with any asinine theory just to downplay the hard work and dedication that Tae is doing in his SDT service. He called it wounds of honor/glory, he wouldn't refer to a "rash" in that manner. I get it you don't like that he gets attention for his hard work and probably see red every time it's mentioned he is in SDT but get over it. Other military men have also said they got similar marks so just cut the BS. The extent to which some go just to discount him and his words while claiming to be a concerned fan is truly nauseating.
Sorry but I think you are over reacting and that most people are making a genuine comment that relates to what they see which is rash and marks in the shape of the straps because Tae is known for having a skin condition that flares up when he overheated, which he would have been doing exercising in full military gear. The areas that would have been affected would be where the most pressure was placed on the skin, so the strap area. The rubbing of the straps and the heat would have caused the injury. All the soldiers probably have the same injury especially after a 20 odd kilometre march but Tae’s Urticaria would have also made it worse. We all knew this would happen to him in the military as he did. It also will happen every time he gets overheated such is the nature of his condition. Yes creams and massage will help, even the scratches. So how is that downplaying Tae’s hard work, which by the way as you mentioned every other soldier in his group went through?
They are in the military now and not K Pop idols, each and every one of them will continue to work hard and may have injuries. I am not sure what his point was in posting the picture, we all know that all seven would have had ‘wounds of glory’ not just Tae and none as yet have posted pictures of their wounds! Now don’t try and tell me they have not had any or that Tae is different because he is in the SDT, all soldiers have ongoing training! Jin and Hobi even do the March every 5 weeks, and it is known that Jin carried two packs once for part of it to ensure his trainees passed, they are all working hard. Just because some of his fans have not overacted over his wounds does not mean they are discounting them. It means they are treating him like the adult he is serving in the military.

I'm sorry I don't agree wearing their uniforms is not propaganda, it is a way for them to show how proud they are of their country. When retired military personnel in the US appear in news broadcasts or any type of program that is aired to the public and they are wearing their uniforms no one ever says that they are participating in propaganda for the military. So don't assume that is what the members or other Korean men are doing when they post pics of themselves in uniform let them show their pride in their country without judgement.

Hello ! I saw this picture and thought that I might recognize this issue. My husband works out in the elements while building massive structures. He covers up against the sun, etc. he also wears gear. When he sweats in the areas covered by his safety gear often times it looks exactly like this… like a rash from the heat and sweating. I usually have to rub some type of gold bond product in those areas because it’s so itchy and red. To him, letting it air out like V is doing here, feels really good to him. This is just my opinion on what this looks like. The pattern on V’s back looks really familiar and itchy. Either way, I hope he gets proper treatment and finds relief soon!! Poor thing….but he’s doing a great job! They all are!!!

It is quite a large abrasion, which makes me wonder if he was dragged against the ground, wearing some gear, maybe? The marks on V's back are a sort of pressure rash. It is probably some sort of burn or chafing from scooting across a surface (similar to a rug burn). My guess he was doing training exercises and was forced to scoot under surfaces as part of evacuation training (like under barbed wire fences or other tight spaces), or similar practices. Plus, he also has a health condition that when he sweats or exerts himself, he gets a rash or hives.
