It just makes me sick that Ole Miss found a way to be the only SEC win for Kentucky and then lost to an LSU and Florida that they never should have lost to. We had the natty in sight and WE screwed it up. This season was the best window. Next year will be tougher, especially playing Georgia on the road. I want Ole Miss to break through at least once before I die! I thought this would be the year.
I have degrees from Ole Miss (MS) and MSU (BS). However, I grew up an MSU fan as Dad and family were from Starkville. The most fun for us was the years with Mullen and with Leach. Speaking of a fall, what a fall for MSU in the last few years. My only way to enjoy a game was watching Ole Miss. My son graduated from UM and I paid UM enough money that I started watching all the Ole Miss games. Yes, I still root for MSU when they are playing Ole Miss, but other than that, I root for Ole Miss in the other games. I am hoping that Lebby learns from Kiffin on how to use the portal and build a program. Lord knows, we need it.
In my opinion, Oregon is far from a “ blue blood”. Phil Knights infusion of billions of dollars into Oregon’s athletic program is fairly recent. I remember several years ago when the PAC 12 was the PAC 8 and the talk was conference officials were wanting to get rid of Washington St., Oregon St., and Oregon because these schools weren’t pulling their own weight. I agree with you Steven 100%!
The good thing about nil and transfer, is the elite teams become really good but not consistently elite, the really good teams have a chance to be elite sometimes, the good teams may be really good sometimes. Thats what i expected from the loss of depth because all those great backups at the old elite teams became starters at other teams. What i dont understand is the crazy inconsistency this year. Ole Miss was amazing in 3 or 4 games, and amazingly bad in 3 or 4..bamma was great in a few games and awful in a few, same but different levels for florida, lsu, a&m, arkansas, vandy, tennessee, missouri, south carolina, ..an off day for a great team or a breakout day for a mediocre team can happen but in the sec we were 4/4..not w/l but 4 times we played like best in the country, and 4 times we played like we were bottom 3rd of the power 4..bama beat georgia pretty good and lost to vandy and oklohoma..lost hard to oklohoma..georgia beat texas twice but got blowed up by us, kinda by bama and by ohio.. and played a binch of ots to beat georgia tech.. ark beat a preety good tenn..but were trash when we played them. Inconsistency across the board, way more than more parity can account for, this was not just less gap between great and nots..it was greats and "pretty goods" playing like div 2 some days..
No such thing as a rise or fall in conferences. It's simply NIL and the transfer portal leveling the ground for most teams. Those days of blue bloods stuffing their rosters with 3rd/4th string 4 star players are over...
Media glossed over all the starters UGA lost to the nfl. Their offense wasn’t dangerous. They out played ND. The turnover and poor special teams led to a 14 point swing. Bama wasn’t bad Milroe was inconsistent. And idk how SC is considered better than bama when they lost head to head lol. Tennessee was also wildly overrated. Their offense could explode from time to time, but it was clear Nico is still green. SEC still dominates recruiting and has the most talent top to bottom. Rebs were the best of the bunch, but poor coaching decisions on offense cost them
You are exactly right if we had took the field goal points we would at least won 1 more game or if Kevin Smith would have played Bentley in every game we would definitely one more game‼️
Georgia didn't lose the game because of the QB, they lost because their WRs can't catch, they lost because their o-line got torched, they got bullied on the line of scrimmage. Georgia and SEC teams don't want to admit that they got beat up and bullied in the trenches.
Yesterday I saw the worm Paul Finebaum lamenting the short side of SEC before ESPN main and even eye jabbed Ole Miss great win by adding Duke became undermanned even though as Steve mentioned the best defense in ACC. Stand tall Rebels.
@ Finebaum never really acknowledges Ole Miss he only wants to see 3 or 4 SEC programs to succeed. Alabama, Texas, Florida (he wants Kiffin to go there) and maybe Tennessee from what I’ve watched of him, but I haven’t watched much
Something I’ve noticed outside of the national media, are the chatter of the fan bases in the B10. I’m currently in Ohio and Pennsylvania. These guys up here are saying and I quote. Hey have you noticed now that it’s legal to pay for players everybody has passed the SEC now that they can pay for players like the SEC has always done.
Great take on the SEC’s shift and Ole Miss’s rise! It’s refreshing to hear a perspective that lets Ole Miss fans celebrate their success without the usual negativity. How do you think this season will impact Ole Miss’s future in the SEC?
@@LockedOnOleMiss Absolutely! Ole Miss has been so close it’s only a matter of time before they break through. This team has the talent and determination to make it happen. Let’s keep the faith! Hotty Toddy!
I've never heard of Finebaum until the beginning of Season 2014 with panel discussions. When will Ole Miss stop being Ole Miss that same season Ole Miss upset Bama with Sabin Kiffen and Smart he certainly had the disdain for UofM then but swells with Lane being there like the institution doesn't deserve it. His entire production needs to go and dry on the vine with Bama.
Why doesn't the National Media get what really changed in College Football?
Agree with you. That's why Ole Miss will have a struggle to get high in the national media, not a blue blood. But I am enjoying the fall of Bama.

Next year we play 8 home games and 9 games in the state of Mississippi tho. That Georgia game is by far the toughest game we have.
Kiffins play calling is terrible at times. And Dart had a meltdown toward the of the Florida game.
@@lukeshaw4287 That's really good if we don't pull another Kentucky-like home game melt down.
@ chances are slim

Facts, thats the last thing they ever wanna admit. XD
They also had a tougher season not to mention a very tough SEC championship gauntlet before going into that game

Yes, Clemson has been my model as well. Why not us?
Overall i think its fantastic for college football. Many more engaged fanbases makes the best sport in the world even better.
