I posted about doddie;s reaction to this the day after he sadly passed,it always stuck in my mind the way he smiled through the bad news that his tour was over when i first watched this many years ago,it hits even harder now that the great human has gone, but he wont be forgotten not by me i assure you nore many others i expect

Doddies face as he realises the damage is heartbreaking and the way he tries to put a smile on is admirable. Such a shame for him really as he was near enough nailed on to start with Martin Johnson in the tests. Such a likeable bloke too

The player who did that to Doddie Weir should never have been allowed on a rugby pitch again.
    RIP Doddie.

The shameful Bokks almost finished Doddy's career in that game. Appalling behavior..!
If you have to cheat to win, then you're only cheating yourself.
    Pathetic really! 😕

What happened that almost finished his career? The way we played as school children seemed far more radical than the footage I watched..

    RIP Doddie.
If anyone is wondering why this generation of players are coming down with so many neurological conditions, have a look at what we used to think was a great idea, training that intense 72 hours before a match. Ludicrous. Rugby took an age to realise that when going proffesional we didn't need the same intensity put in over two nights a week across 5 full days.

I remember watching that happen live. An oaf of a man with zero skills takes out Doddie in clinical fashion and ends his tour. Heinous. Sickened me.
    RIP mr Weir

I’m sure there’s a special place in Hell waiting for Marius Bosman, what he did to Doddie was an act of pure evil. RIP Doddie.

Does anyone know what happened to that bastard. Pity Wade Dooley wasn't playing as that bastard would have been carried off on a stretcher within 15 minutes. As an English man I always liked old Doddie and my regard for him has gone up with his cruel MND diagnosis.

This shows the difference between a legend like Diddie and the bandit that thought he was hard by kicking him in the knee and ending his tour. That worthless want to be Bokke probably had a few beers on taking Doddie out and how good that was for South Africa. Well, the joke is on that looser as Doddie has proven beyond doubt who the better and harder man is. He took MND in his stride and when told he had two years to live, he lived for six. He has raised £millions through his foundation to combat the disease that finally took him and his legacy will live on for decades to come. As for the thug that ended his lions tour it is as it should be nobody know or cares who he is and what became of him.

The ball was there to be won. You could see he wasn't raking or booting anyone. Almost tentatively going for the ball
