I remember doing something like that for 5 days. It was a nightmare, you can't sleep, because you are starving. I could literally feel my organs shrinking and it's not a fun experience. No energy, thinking about food non stop, depressing. By the way I have low body fat, it's totally different for people with high body fat.
This is a great video. Leading a healthy life doesn't have to be that complicated. Regular sleep, regular exercising, and healthy food, and you'll probably live your best life
Friendly reminder, this test is the fast mimicking diet done wrong. This diet was mentioned in the last video they did on biological aging where it was said that you should be only doing this 15 days PER YEAR, not 15 days in less than 3 months. Obviously this is still a new "fad" diet so more research is definitely needed, but if one was going to test it, it's a good idea to follow the actual recommendations of the people who developed it.
was it still some days in a row or just 15 days sprinkled throughout the year? I've not purposely done this, but I know there are days every now and then where I just naturally don't feel like eating and I stick with low cal and soups but these days are pretty spread out and sometimes are correlated with getting sick (but sometimes not). Now I'm just curious.
I did the FMD last year, ate all my favourite foods, just much less to hit the macros, and dropped almost 2% body fat....that wasnt replaced when I was back at my normal (healthy) habits. I continued with me workout routine during the 5 FMD days. And I only did it for one week! 😊
Oh man. Yeah, I sorta glad it turned out like that. Now I don’t have the desire to even try this! Thanks for saving me time and even more for keeping me from starving myself.

It was actually developed and tested with the assistance of Dr. Morgan Levine who wrote the book they mentioned in their last video on aging, however the actual recommendation (as they mentioned in that video) was 15 total "fasting" days PER YEAR, not 15 in a quarter of that time. So far, when done correctly, it's shown little to no adverse health affects in healthy individuals. That being said, intermittent fasting, alternate day fasting, or any other type of fasting regimen that's safe can have similar benefits.
After watching the video of the 50 day dieting challenge you did and watching this video, I can see a big difference in how your body and face looks, keep going bro💪🏾.. you’re showing results and being a role model
I’m on 42 seconds and it just sounds like “Feel like a woman does for 5 days every month and become 2.5 years younger.” In all seriousness I love you guys. I get stoked every time I see you’ve posted.
I was happy that he started with a healthy DIY version of FMD, only to come to the wrong conclusion in between that he was losing too much weight. That’s the goal of it - for most people. He should have kept his meal plan, perhaps lower on tofu and peas, but not switch to the overpriced and overprocessed Prolon kit. I have done multiple stints of DIY FMD and it’s the best 5 day diet to reset your food cravings and I lost 8-10lbs of weight each time, almost all of it of it as fat and a good chunk of the loss stays with you for a while.
I've done this - lost alot of weight - all the meds came off - all the vitals/blood reports etc became healthy (and moreover became at the optimal range for someone in their 20's....when I was in my 40's)....so sure everyone check w/ your doctor for sure...but for me...losing the weight was the key to health...I DIDN"T do it only 5 days though...I did it everyday until my goal was hit....doing it fast was actually easier (after the first couple days your body is a little in emotional shock) because light nutritional ketosis kicks in and your cravings disappear...and if you do it fast, you actually do it fully...as opposed to watching calories for 2-3 years - that is too mentally exhausting. Also pro tip is to do it keto if you can - its less food to eat (less big filling bowls of brocoli) but you kick into ketosis quicker and deeper, and you lose quicker. I also did it vegetarian BTW. nutritional labels and apps like myfitnesspal are key. I found keeping carbs below 40g on a 800-900 calorie total (counting Total carbs, NOT Net carbs btw), and keeping Fat above 40%, eating at least 55g protein. This sounds intense, and it can be an adjustment at first, but once you figure out your foods, and ketosis sets in after at most a week...it is smooth sailing frankly. basically - read the late great Michael Mosely's "The Fast Keto diet" - its legit. BUT Use at your own discretion - I'm not your doctor. But more power to you however you choose to proceed - wish you all a long happy and healthy life. Also learned that managing carbs is (sadly) the key - I just don't feel good if I donut-it-up too much... alas... also - sorry to break this news but the autophagy thing is not proven..basically it works on rats but even if it worked on humans, in order to replicate it based on the size/metabolism etc, I think you'd have to fast for like 15 days or something (I forget) to actually break into autophagy...that being said, from experience something good is happening to you by not constantly eating..it makes sense to me that we as humans have not (again, very sadly since I love eating) evolved to be constantly eating...and definitely the whole 3 square meals (or 6 mini meals) etc...is all a load of horse___
No wonder it didn't work. You do the research before you diet, not during the diet. You should limit your fasting (like 24hrs once or twice a month) eat healthy options, stay away from sugar and you'll be fine. No wonder you aged...no brainer!
I think the nutritionist put it right, it's tested in obese and overweight individuals and not on twined and healthy ones. It won't make sense for you. For them just losing a few pounds is good enough to make them healthier
Dang, that was funny, well for me. All that struggling for nothing. For people like me, I’m 40% fat currently, hacks to loose weight fast are appealing. But this just shows how you are not helping your body if you don’t give your body enough energy source and the best rest. Thank you for putting this video out. 🙌👏👏
You know, I fully expected a video which tells us how great this new "science based" ("!") trend is. What I got is a realistic documentation, some critical insight from a real expert and your realisation that moving a lot and eating healthy is not only enough, it WORKS (and it also works while working (!). And all of this in 11 30 minutes?Thank you so much for that. In the end, you should not fit into a diet. Nutrition should be aedaquate and helpful for your lifestyle!
Yeah, I'd rather actually fast than eat that diet. Fully abstaining from calories is healthier anyway as it doesn't cause your metabolism to reduce the way calorie restriction does.
Wouldn’t it have been a no brainer that the rapid weight loss in the first week/month would’ve come from the excessive restriction of calories and protein intake and resulting in loss of water weight and muscle mass?? Idk I just found the “surprised” comment at 7lbs weight loss kinda…. idk this is common knowledge no??? 😂😂 Also, what’s not mentioned here is that regular EXERCISE also induces autophagy - which negates the need for persistent fasting.
AFAIK your biological age depends more on your fat and muscle percentage. If you are lean, your biological age will be closer to your real age. But if you are fat, you can be 25 years of age, but your biological age can be 40!
You should have just done time restricted eating and have a prolonged fast overnight so you get the autophagy. Cut food off at 3pm or earlier like Bryan Johnson.
If you look at all the before/after images for big necks, even the ones photoshopped, made the men appear not just more masculine, but younger and seemingly more brimming with vitality. That's the anti-aging you should be doing.
