@@7thson726 i think bases like this on the table make the difference between "Toy Soldiers" and Men´s Toy, it also brings a kind of "realistic" look on the table,...hope you understandwhat i mean. ;D
Great looking army. Printing a map of Waterloo for the command base takes attention to detail to the next level. Thanks for sharing and happy hobbying!
Brilliant Martin - nice to see it all laid out like that having seen "snippets" of it all on your batreps. Was just thinking "Ooo...I'll comment and say how nice the wood looks on the ambulance" when you mentioned it in the video. Great job!
Thank you amte - sorry for some reason UA-cam marked your comment as spam so i didn't see it straight away. Thanks for the comments on the ambulance, i was quite harsh on myself trying to make it look right 👍😀 as its such a nice model i didn't want to just do it flat brown
Very impressive looking army there dude, just started building up a Napoleonic Force myself after a number of years procrastinating about it. Your videos have helped make it look a lot less daunting!
Loving the showcases. Perhaps a take of stock before the winter painting months come in! The two armies so far look like they could be a fair fight, but maybe I'm a teensy bit biased
That is a very impressive french army! When I see this, I just want to start painting Napolionics. But I have one huge project that I need to complete before I even think of antother project. Well done , great video!
I would say sorry but i want more napoleonic players 😀👍 thanks very much mate, im trying to resist 28mm 30 years war at the minute, its getting harder not to haha
Lovely French army Martin. My sole interest is in Napoleonic figures but for some reason I enjoy all your videos regardless of subject. You have plenty of infantry mate so I would suggest speed painting the horses especially when you don't feel like concentrating. I save detailed stuff for when I feel primed for it. Dragoons, chasseurs and hussars are calling you and no real French army could be without them (unless early 1813 counts). I hope you can overcome your distaste for horses, they really can be a joy to paint but most people don't look at them but instead at the rider so no pressure to paint horses to high standards. Have you seen the PDF of the Waterloo Remodelled project? I'd be happy to send it if you like, it is 196 pages. Cheers from the US.
Hi there, thanks so much for taking the time to comment 👍 to be honest i seem to be getting over my hatred for horse painting... Slowly. A few every now and then seems to be the key. I haven't seen that work no, i would be interested but only if its no bother 👍
Thanks mate 👍😀 glad you like them The ambulance has worked well, forgot to add we dont allow it to attempt a rally in the turn it moves otherwise it seemed a bit overpowered
Thanks mate 👍 have a box here ready to go 😕 ive got my painting sorted for the rest of the month and i have a plan for October. Maybe some time away from cavalry will mean come November i wont have an excuse not to... But I'll keep looking for one 😉
Wow, I'd be very proud if I could put all this on the table. You know what? I'm just the opposite regarding Cavalry verses Infantry. I find infantry very tedious with all their assorted gear and the French are even worse because of all the types and the personal variation of gear ( which I love the variation) between the different manufacturers, but painting in large batches, I always find scabbards or plumes, or water/wine bottles , or whatever that I've failed to paint or failed to paint completely when I think I'm all finished and am involved with the basing process. With cavalry, it seems less likely to happen as often and I have a huge range of variation I can apply to the horses. I can use the contra color to the uniforms facing colors to really make all the colors pop. I love using slightly blue-ish gray or black with slightly blue-ish highlights with lancer or dragoon regiments that have PINK facings. Conversely, I can use variations of sorrels when I'm putting together lancers or whatever units with blue facings. I admit, the heads of cavalry horses are a pain in the ass with all the straps and buckles & reins all over the place but they look so good when you get them right. Thanks for all your work, and thanks too your wife for being such a good sport and giving you all the time to put so much on the table. I'm painting Peninsula war British at the moment so I'll be looking forward to your nest video.
Thanks very much, im really glad you like them and the content on the channel 👍 i know exactly what broke me with napoleonic cavalry, Hanoverian Hussar's, it may be that i did them all in a single session. My wife is a good sport, but then she also likes to play and use them to beat me 😀
@@7thson726 Hussar's in a single session, you must've been wacked! I think you are selling your Old Guard a bit short. I remember one battalion in #4 Breakthrough holding up King's Own, Cornwall & those green deviled unmentionables with rifles plus command pretty much single handed.
This is fantastic. Some lovely figures and vignettes to go with the regiments too. The map is a great touch, as is the ambulance! I look forward to the British army as well. Are you using a phone or tablet to record, by the way? Macro and autofocus?

Thanks very much, really appreciate that 👍 For these bases i use a mix of ground covers and then various static grass. For the napoleonic period as i was basing it around the 100 days i wanted some wet mud in there so i use a mud paste from vallejo. I then finish with a few tufts. I have actually changed my basing quite a bit since i did these but you can see the process i currently use in this video from around the 6.05 mark, hope that helps 👍🙂 ua-cam.com/video/Bge0YQjQanE/v-deo.html

I've started building/painting up some of my French. Maybe a dumb question, but does it matter what company the officer/standard bearer are in? Were they always in 1st company? Also, did late-war line infantry always have flank companies? I've seen some people model without grenadiers/voltigeurs and didn't know if that war right.
Awesome, hope you're enjoying painting them up. As far as I'm aware they were a seperate entity however i always model them with the 1st company for ease. I tend to model what i feel looks good. Laye french units did have Grenadiers and Voltigeurs 👍 i think some people just prefer to do them seperate
