I know you were just out here in Utah, but any chance you could get back out this way? We are getting ready to begin the Saratoga Springs Temple Open House and that may be a unique experience for yourself and your viewers. I don't know if you've had opportunity to participate in a Temple Open House before, as I've watched a great many of your videos, but haven't yet seen all of them.
@@jasondraper2829 Thanks for the suggestion and watching some of the videos! I've heard about Saratoga Springs from a few requests. I'm HOPING to get out to Columbus, Ohio to see an open house temple there (though the open house is only for two weeks). Fingers crossed.
@@52churchesin52weeks Cool, I hope things work out for you. Columbus is one of the "pocket Temples", as they came to be colloquially known, that were built under President Hinckley's ministry. I'm glad that it is something on your radar and that you reminded me about it. It isn't always easy to keep up with all the temporal work going on with the Temples especially with the renovations and construction going on just here in Utah. Be safe in your travels!
I'm LDS, but I taught a couple of years at a Catholic private school. They had monthly mass in the gym of the school and I participated. As a result, i gained a greater understanding and respect for their faith.
Oh David, I wanted to tell you. I just started reading C. S. Lewis' Mere Christianity. I am upset with myself for waiting til I am 46 to read this. I highly recommend it. I think you will enjoy and appreciate it. Much love Bro.
Thanks for the recommendation. I started Mere Christianity and Screwtape Letters, but never finished them. The one I enjoyed was The Great Divorce. Found that tale to quite thought-provoking.
There is a beauty to how we all worship God differently. For me I’m interested by the similarity and differences in hymns and music. I liked hearing the music in this video. I was raised Catholic from age 8 and continued in my Catholic faith until age 23, when I converted to the LDS faith. Anyway, I still find myself singing a few favorite Catholic hymns (what I think of as Catholic, could be for other Christian faiths too). My favorites are ‘Sing a New Song’, ‘Here I am Lord’ (this one can make me cry), ‘Though the Mountains May Fall’, and ‘Peace is Flowing Like a River’. I’m sure there are more but this is all I could think of. I guess I’ll add my favorite LDS hymns (I realize there is some crossover with other faiths, just what I think of as LDS these last 20+ years.)😁 ‘How Great Thou Art’ (not just LDS and always makes me cry), ‘Be Still My Soul’, ‘I Know that My Redeemer Lives’, ‘Lord, I Would Follow Thee’, and ‘For the Beauty of the Earth’ (also not just LDS). I sang in a production of women at the well in my college days, so those songs have a special place in my heart too. 🥰 I sang the solo ‘Miracle from Heaven’. There really are too many to name. ‘Amazing Grace’ also moves me. I would love to see how many songs we all share as Christians. I’d love to see other’s favorite hymns or music.
The mother of Louis was a holy Spanish noblewoman named Blanche. She raised her son with this solemn understanding: "Although i love you dearly, i would rather see you dead on the floor than EVER commit a mortal (i.e. serious) sin." Louis never committed a grave sin in his entire life - a life filled with heroism and charity. He himself wanted the be a priest, not a King. Even though he admirably fulfilled the requirements of dispensing administrative Justice, he prayed 5 times daily with the monks, was present at TWO holy Masses each day, and at night made a point of personally teaching his many children (12) about the nobility of the Christian way of life. Louis' preferred title for himself was that of Christian; and because he was baptised in a chapel in Poissy, France, he liked to be called "Louis of Poissy". Our Blessed Lord Jesus chose this holy man, who deeply loved and well served Him, to bring His authentic Crown of Thorns to Paris France (where it yet is today).
Please include 1 visit to an Eastern Catholic Church. The Catholic Church that you’ve been visiting is part of the western church. Try one of the 23 eastern Catholic Church. Their traditions is as grand as the western church.
Interesting. I just looked into this online. So if I'm understanding correctly, the Catholic Church actually consists of 24 churches (of which, the vast 98% majority is the Roman Catholic). Was looking to see if there's one nearby. Was looking for Chicago, but not seeing anything too close. Will need to look into more.
@@52churchesin52weeksyes , the Catholic church consists of 24 other churches that are all in communion with Rome and the Pope. They are all Catholic and believe the same thing. They are not denominations per se but more like different expressions , traditions , customs , etc. United in belief , but divided in expression. The biggest church in the Catholic church is the Roman Catholic church which consists of 1 billion members , and eastern Catholics make up just about 20 million members so many people don't even know they exist. Many Catholics don't even know about them let alone any non Catholics bc they just know the Roman Catholic church. If you're in Chicago , I'm 100% sure that theirs is a nearby eastern Catholic church. Just look up eastern Catholic church online or be more specific like Byzantine Catholic church, maronite Catholic church , etc until you find one I had to drive 1 hour and 30 minutes to the Byzantine Catholic church one time They exist , but you may have to drive out. Email them a few days in advance bc they are usually a smaller church and don't have much room or space but they are very welcoming people
Great intro. Your videos are getting better and better. I can't believe I have been right there and didn't visit that lovely cathedral. Thanks for another great video David. Love your channel.
Thanks Christina! Same. Looking around the Arch the first time, I saw the cross and steeple - but NEVER would have thought about the significance the Old Cathedral had on the formation of St. Louis. Some of the rich backstories to these churches are something else.
Well, in a strange sort of way, you did get to see the cardinals🤨. I've been going back and watching this experience from the beginning and am so amazed at how much you have changed. I was thinking that, because of your spirit now, how many people you show how to open up and humble themselves to showing God's glory thru your actions and words. Thanks for reminding me to be better.
Hey CJ! Ha, I thought you'd mention that about the cardinals. Not quite the same. For sure, the personal transformation throughout the course of this has been something else. I appreciate you joining throughout this journey from the early beginning.
The catholic and orthodox churches come from the line of apostolic succession. What restorationists claim what is lost is still alive and well kept in our One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
Time flies for sure! For one, a staycation for sure haha - will be odd to NOT be on the road each weekend. Have a few other types of visits planned, so stay tuned!
Maybe you are aware, but in case not, there are Novus Ordo (N.O. meaning New Order) Catholics and Traditional Catholics. The differences are many but among them: N.O. Mass is said in English whereas the Traditional is in Latin; many N.O. no longer have a communion rail (the small "fence" separating the people from the altar) and have modernized their church by removing many statues and some even have moved the most holy of all, the Tabernacle where the Holy Eucharist is placed (and was always at the center of the altar), to a side altar! The N.O. receive the Holy Eucharist standing and many times they receive it in their hands (Traditional Catholics always receive kneeling and on their tongue. Of course there are exceptions when for example, an elderly person cannot kneel they will receive standing up) In many N.O. churches, they replaced the stone altar with a "table". Throughout church history the altar was always made of stone with some saint relics in them. There's a whole lot more but this is just a small sampling of the many differences. Hope this is helpful to you! P.S. Yes, the Mass is the Sacrifice of the Mass not a meal. God bless!
Would respectfully recommend that you look up 'Miracles of the Eucharist' compiled by Blessed Carlo which will convince you of the true presence of Jesus in the blessed Eucharist, body, blood, soul and divinity. Would also recommend Scott Hahn's book entitled 'Rome Sweet Home'. 🙏🙏
Sorry, I didn't know how else to reach out to you. I'm not a computer guy and all I've got is this phone. I missed your report this week (April 30) so I hope your ok and all's well. If you just happened to be on vacation I hope you had fun👍. I know it's getting near the end of the 52 in 52, but I was surprised how much I missed this week's report. Not looking forward to it ending. You've been more of an inspiration these last 7 months than I was aware. So with all my heart, thank you.😊
Hey CJ, appreciate the message. It means a lot the series has interested so many as it's continued. Life happens, number of things popped up delaying the Week 50 video. Hoping to get it up sooner rather than later.
Thank you very much for this video and the backstory! Almost done with this next series! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints videos are popular on your channel-they are having a temple open house in Columbus, Ohio from April 29 - May 13 (but not Sundays or Mondays), all are invited. After that, the temple is dedicated and only members attend. So, that might make a good “near the end” event that is relatively unique and that you and viewers might enjoy hearing and seeing more about. Just remember it is not on Sundays (during those days members are in church services), and not Mondays (which are days set for family time by the church). You can reserve a free ticket if you search for Columbus, Ohio temple open house so you have a guaranteed slot. Thanks for this incredible series!
How are the cardinals coming? Perhaps God is waiting for you to commit to him that you will do his will at ANY cost. Will you do an update video about the cardinals?
Three churches to go! Hope you enjoyed this week's visit. Let me know what you thought below.

My favorite analogy is the math problem and have used it many times to get people to focus on their goal.

There is only one valid Mass: The Tridentine Traditional Roman Catholic Latin Mass.
