    Note that PPU features are not replicated in Fabric unless you get F64+
    Also Pro licences required regardless of SKU for publishing and sharing - even F64+. Consumers ( viewers ) will only need Fabric free with F64+

      Yes, PRO license is anyways needed at least for developers who want to publish report, same as older premium or embeded capacities.

    HI, this does seem very complex, and I think its mainly for people who already use and pay for PowerBI, so they sort of know how much power they need to process their data
    But for anyone who never paid for PowerBI, before this is very obscure
    But now lets say, I have 1 datawarehouse (1 SSAS Tabular DB)
    And dozens of potential users (~100 or so users)
    What should one even buy? How many SKUs or Fs do I need etc...
    I think MS need to give more example per usage scenario
    DB Dize , Number of views per day, Level of interaction with the reports

    • @LearnMicrosoftFabric
      @LearnMicrosoftFabric  Рік тому +1

      Hi Ali M - thanks for the comment! Yes you’re right, I was talking more from the perspective of those that already have some Power BI licenses.
      In general, the amount of report users you have is important for choosing which Power BI licenses you need.
      And the amount of computation you will be doing determines the F-SKU level you will require - so the amount of data you are putting through data pipelines, data flows, any notebook operations for data engineering, machine learning training etc. So if you don’t plan to do much of this, or your datasets are small, you can probably get away with F2, the lowest SKU. Another option to consider if you only have one SSAS db is to not use Fabric at all :)

    Hi - many thanks for this useful video.
    Are paginated reports in Power BI available under the Pro licence, or only under Premium per User? I'm wondering if this is a similar scenario the "48 refreshes per day" example in your video.

    what is the feature difference between microsoft fabric free trial and f2?

    • @LearnMicrosoftFabric
      @LearnMicrosoftFabric  3 місяці тому

      The features are the same, but the free trial, you get access to an F64 capacity, which is more powerful/ more compute resource for you to use.
      In general, the F64 capacity opens up new features like ability to integrate Azure Open AI, Copilot, and security features. But these are not included on a free trial.

      @@LearnMicrosoftFabric I have a free trial fabric account and the trial is getting expired next week, I am looking for a solution where I can move the trial account to fabric capacity. with a CSP (NCE) subscription can I achieve this? And this switch will be seamless without any data loss?

    Hi Will, at the end of your video you mentioned F SKU's are charged per hour but the documentation says per second. Can you help provide some clarity there? Also, if billing is per second how does that work If I purchase a F64 and only use a few hours every month. Will I not be billed the $8,400 for the month?

    • @LearnMicrosoftFabric
      @LearnMicrosoftFabric  5 місяців тому +1

      Sure:
      - the F capacities are pay-as-you-go, meaning you can turn them on and off again and you will stop getting billed.
      - The $8400 price for an F64 is if you had it running 24/7 for the whole month.
      - The hourly price of an F64 is $11.52/hour, but you can use it for less than one hour (minimum time is one minute) and you will be charged a fraction of that $11.52

    Why do you need to buy PPU and an F SKU?

    • @LearnMicrosoftFabric
      @LearnMicrosoftFabric  Рік тому +1

      With PPU you can only create Power BI items in Fabric. You cannot create things like data warehouse, lake house, notebooks etc. So if you want any of these things, you’ll need to buy F Sku or upgrade to a premium capacity.
      From the docs:
      Premium Per user (PPU) - Premium Per User, or PPU, is the entry level organization license. PPU uses a shared capacity across the organization, which provides the computing power for the Power BI operations that take place in the organization. PPU licenses provide partial access to Microsoft Fabric. If you're using a PPU license, you'll only be able to access Power BI items in Microsoft Fabric.

    I am having PBI premium capacity (P2) and have not enabled preview features .So currently i am not availing fabric to users(even trial).But in next month on wards does it make automatically Fabric enabled if admin does not change any setting in the portal?
    Second thing is that you mentioned that in premium you can leverage fabric with no extra costs. Is that mean with the amount that i am paying for premium capacity, i can work with all fabric personas? If so, this new pricing mechanism(pay as you go) not applicable for premium capacities?

    • @LearnMicrosoftFabric
      @LearnMicrosoftFabric  Рік тому

      On your first point, yes. From the docs: ‘Unless an admin makes changes to the Microsoft Fabric admin switch settings, Microsoft Fabric will be turned on for all Power BI users on 1 July 2023.’ Reference: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/admin/fabric-switch
      Yes if you already have premium capacity, you are free to create any fabric items. You won’t need pay-as-you-go.
      Hope that helps. ☺️

      @@LearnMicrosoftFabric Thanks.But i am skeptical on the second answer ,as microsoft announces even in PBI premium,we have to pay for the fabric items.Correct if am wrong.
