The first solution worked for my iPhone 12 Pro. Thank you very much! I had intentionally washed my phone and then that happened, I reset it but the "Setup Face ID" button greyed out...Apple support says if that fails then you should take it to a technician. I decided to heat it up just a little bit and blowed it using my fan, after about 20 minutes I came to this video, did the first trick, my phone restarted and VUALA, Face ID is back to life.

Same thing with me nothing worked I had to send it to the Maintenace and replaced the truedeapth camera they said water got in so be careful all it’s not IPX68 at all damn iPhone

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but most Face ID problems are always a hardware issue not a software bug, don’t reset ur iPhone because I guarantee u 99.99% of the times it won’t even fix anything. U just have to get a new phone or look for an expert technician that can repair Face ID ❤
Keyword here is 'most', not all, and some hardware problems can be fixed using different tricks, maybe the hardware contacted moisture, if that's the case then it should just be left alone to dry. I left mine for sometime and then hard reset it and it worked!!!
