This is considered glam rock. Sweet were a really big British band in the 1970's. Their biggest hit was "The Ballroom Blitz". Other songs are "Little Willy", "Love Is Like Oxygen", "Funny Funny", "Block Buster!", "Hell Raiser", Teenage Rampage", "Turn It Down", "Fox On The Run" etc.

100%. I'm a man is also a really great song off of desolation Boulevard which also had some of those other hits including this one.

In the uk their biggest hit was Blockbuster which was their only No.1
Sweet and Slade were the two main ones in the glam era of the early 70’s imo
It’s the law when you play a Sweet one then a Slade one must follow…..Cum on feel the Noize or Far Far Away being two gooduns

The Ballroom Blitz" was inspired by an incident on 27 January 1973 when the band were performing at the Grand Hall in Kilmarnock, Scotland, and were driven offstage by the audience throwing bottles at them. Andy Scott lead guitarist is the only original member remaining. RIP Brian Connolly Lead singer, Mick Tucker Drummer and Steve Priest Bass guitarist.

I love people's reactions when they hear a great classic like this. I find it hard to believe a lot of people have never heard these classics. A lot better than the music nowadays. Remember when I first heard it in 1975 Well, I am 60.

Excellent example of the 70's Glam Rock. Sweet had some of the best vocals mix going. Never tire of listening to it. Love it when people discover them.

This is 70's Glam Rock. David Bowie and New York Dolls were Glam Rock as well. The 70's experimented with music, looks and stage productions like Alice Cooper - Welcome to My Nightmare. Alice Cooper has a stage show that is Vaudeville meets Rock Music meets Horror.

I was born in 1974 but I loved the Sweet. I used to have their cassette album and loved all their songs. I first heard this song in a late 1980's famous beer commercial that got so much airplay that it made everyone want to know them. Plus it was played on the radio a lot. So I know lots of people around my age know of them.

There are many sub genres to rock, & they fell definitely in the *Glam(Glamorous) Rock* category......They were very popular, although, I don't think were appreciated as much as they should have been! I love this band, & they have many great songs in their catalog 😊

The hight of glam rock. I guess one can´t get further away from hip hop. :D I grew up with this, and when they play it in the bars now, even this 53 year old get up and "shake his tush". Btw, all of them where incredible musicians. Really good! If I remember correctly, The Ramones wanted to play like them, but couldn´t - and instead created some truly iconic punk rock. "1,2,3,4". I guess that is a lot like life.

I gots a man haven't been on here in a while but I'm just coming across this reaction as well and what a great reaction man it's hard to say enough about these guys, when I heard them I was so young I had no idea what glam-rock was man I knew that David Bowie was cool but I didn't know anything other than I just heard this shit on the radio and then I bought a record album and I love that man they rocked really hard. Just loved it. It's kind of funny to see it now in the context of there was this huge kind of fat in the early seventies with David Bowie leading the way of doing glam-rock😮 that in my mind lead in the early 1980s into the over-the-top metal hair bands. It's just an evolution of if you're on stage being a rockstar back then you better stand out. It's not really much about the other politics of it. But anyway, your reactions are always great cuz you just look at it and see what's cool about it and call that out. Lovett.
If you haven't reacted to it, you absolutely must react to their other huge smash hit from the Same album and it is so fun and there are multiple music videos of it online I know, but it is called, Fox on the Run. You heard this on the radio day in and day out and day in and day out. And I say this as a musician, it really is a fantastic song, it's got that early 70s wall-of-sound density to it and it's got synthesizers to reinforce their hard-rocking and yeah they're still trying to Glam it out to some degree but man it is just one of those pop hits that will get inside your head and never leave. Fox on the Run.
Everybody can relate to this song too, including all the stone cold foxes!
